==============
A few hours later,
Norin and the others returned to Gotham.
After explanations along the way, Kara learned from Norin what was going to happen in the future.
When Kara heard that Kryptonian General Zod would destroy Earth and transform it into a planet suitable for Kryptonians, she didn't show much reaction.
To her, Earth was just a strange planet.
Moreover, as soon as she'd arrived, she'd been imprisoned by mercenaries.
So, she didn't have a good impression of Earth's people.
There was no point in staying on Earth and fighting for humanity.
Instead, she hoped to find her lost cousin, Kal-El.
He was Krypton's last hope.
And her duty was to protect Kal. On Krypton, where hierarchy was strict, disobeying orders was almost unthinkable.
_______________
Wayne Manor,
Kara looked out at the sun hanging high in the sky. After a moment of silence, she said, "This has nothing to do with me."
Bruce glanced at Norin, his eyes seeming to say, "Is this the helper you were talking about? Are you sure she'll be useful?"
"What if I told you Zod killed Kal?"
Norin's words hit like a bombshell.
Kara spun around, her face filled with disbelief. "How is that possible? How could Zod kill Kal?"
"It's true. Zod needs the Codex of Life inside you. You know what that is. Only with it can Zod recreate all Kryptonians and revive Krypton on Earth."
"How could a baby produce the Codex of Life?"
"Or do you think Zod, given his personality, would patiently raise Kal and then ask him to hand over the Codex?"
Thinking of Zod's character, Kara fell silent.
Zod was a Kryptonian general, commanding the most powerful military force outside the Council. He had the temperament of a hawk—ruthless and relentless.
If someone stood in the way of his plans, especially the revival of Krypton, he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate them, even if they were fellow Kryptonians.
This was inevitable.
It was a trait etched deep into Zod's genes from birth.
"Codex of Life? What's that?"
Bruce, standing nearby, couldn't help but ask when he heard what had drawn Zod's attention.
"The Codex of Life is Krypton's genetic database. With it, Kryptonian technology can recreate our people."
"By the way, Kryptonians abandoned natural reproduction. All life is cultivated through genes—except for Kal."
"He's a naturally born Kryptonian, with limitless potential!"
Norin explained succinctly.
"So, if we remove the Codex of Life, we can stop Zod from invading Earth."
Bruce was already thinking of the simplest way to solve the problem.
"Technically, yes, but it's too late now."
Norin shook his head. "When Jor-El sent Kara and Kal to Earth, Earth's fate was sealed."
"Zod will have tracked the signals from Kara and her pod. They're probably already on their way here."
"Even if Kara leaves Earth now, it won't help."
"Why? The universe is vast. There must be other planets like Earth. They don't need to transform Earth into a new Krypton."
Bruce looked confused.
"Because of that."
Norin pointed to the sun. "Krypton's star was a red sun, but Earth's sun is yellow."
"Under a yellow sun, Kryptonians gain a tenfold—or even hundredfold—increase in strength. And this boost is practically limitless."
"Kryptonians already have physiques that can crush most of Earth's technology. With the yellow sun's enhancement, over time, each of them could become godlike."
"Is that temptation enough?"
Bruce glanced at Kara. No wonder she'd been so weak while imprisoned. But once outside, she was like a different person—energetic, powerful, and even capable of flight.
Was this really a hundredfold increase?
And this was just the beginning. What if they stayed under the sun for a hundred years? A thousand? Who could rival the Kryptonians then?
Conquering the universe might not be just a fantasy.
Putting himself in Zod's shoes,
If Bruce knew the yellow sun could grant such immense power, and Earth was the only habitable planet with weak native inhabitants,
He wouldn't let Earth go either.
"The Kryptonian race must not be allowed to grow!"
Bruce muttered to himself.
This overpowered race should have perished with the destruction of their home planet.
If they were allowed to thrive, even if they didn't take over Earth but settled on other planets, they would eventually become a terrifying force threatening Earth—and possibly the entire universe.
"Is what you just said true?" Kara, who had been deep in thought, asked again.
"How do you know all this? Are you predicting the future? Or is the future you're describing just a lie?"
"Whether it's real or not, we'll know soon enough if two people named Barry Allen come looking for us."
"According to the timeline, Zod will arrive this year. We don't have much time."
Norin spoke seriously.
"Alright. I'll join you to fight Zod. I want to question him personally about what happened to Kal."
Looking into Norin's sincere, unclouded eyes, Kara chose to believe him—for now.
Such a handsome guy wouldn't lie to her, right?
This was the effect of Norin's unique physique.
Even Supergirl wasn't immune to its influence during their first meeting.
Her favorability toward him was instantly maxed out, making trust come easily.
If it had been Barry, he'd have almost died just to earn Kara's trust.
Words alone wouldn't have been enough to win her over.
That was the difference.
Compared to Bruce... Norin was sure Bruce was already analyzing his abilities and figuring out ways to counter him.
"So, back to the main question. Do you have any ideas for fighting Zod?" Bruce looked at Norin.
According to Norin, their original universe had already been destroyed.
Clearly, their chances of defeating Zod alone were zero. Their only hope was Norin.
Norin's arrival was this universe's last chance.
