===============
Siberia,
Snow and wind had dominated this land for as long as anyone could remember. Even sitting inside the Batwing, the knife-like cold seemed to seep through.
"Hover mode activated... ejection seat deployed."
To be honest, this rapid landing wasn't pleasant.
Norin had no prior landing training.
Bruce had only briefly gone over the key points during the flight.
So, naturally, Norin was a bit nervous.
However, thanks to the molecular mimicry ability he'd gained from Kitty Pryde, he didn't have to worry about being turned into a pancake due to a botched landing.
Fortunately, after a landing more thrilling than bungee jumping, he deployed the parachute and touched down safely—though his landing posture wasn't exactly graceful.
After walking a short distance, the two arrived at the outskirts of the mercenaries' secret base.
"What's the plan? Do we just charge in and rescue this Supergirl you mentioned?"
Bruce scanned the base, then turned to Norin.
"Even with your built-in infrared thermal imaging and vibration sensing, which let you bypass patrols, this base doesn't have an easy entry point."
"You might also need some bulletproof gear. What they're carrying isn't just for show."
"No need. Just follow me, don't resist, and hold your breath."
Norin moved closer to Bruce. As the older man's muscles tensed, Norin grabbed his wrist and pulled him toward the wall.
"Are you crazy? This is—"
Bruce started to protest, but then he saw Norin's body phase through the wall like it was water.
Realizing what was happening, Bruce quickly shut his mouth and held his breath.
A strange sensation spread through his body.
As he passed through the wall, it felt like he and the material within it had merged, becoming one and the same.
It was a more surreal feeling than swimming.
After what felt like an eternity,
The two emerged on the other side of the wall and continued forward.
"This is molecular mimicry. It lets me pass through almost any object," Norin explained, as if sensing Bruce's confusion.
"So, the molecules in your body can instantly transform to match the structure of whatever you're passing through? And you can extend that to others? Incredible. What if the material is entirely atomic? Or non-material? Could you still phase through it?"
Bruce's eyes gleamed, though it was hard to tell what he was thinking behind his mask.
Next,
Guided by the blueprints Bruce had obtained after hacking into the base, the two easily bypassed all the guards.
Bruce also got to witness the full extent of molecular mimicry.
It could phase through walls, sink into the ground—it could do almost anything.
It completely shattered Bruce's understanding of physics.
Still, with his mental fortitude, he managed to stay composed.
Even if his mask hid his expression entirely.
When they reached the cell where Supergirl Kara was being held,
Bruce instinctively pulled out his code-breaking device.
The cell was clearly made of some unknown metal.
It might even have been Kryptonian technology.
Bruce was skeptical about whether Norin's ability could penetrate the cell's unknown material.
But Norin didn't hesitate. He went straight to work.
Despite not knowing the structure of the substance in front of him, Kitty Pryde's molecular mimicry didn't require understanding the composition of the material being phased through.
Talking about physics in front of mutants? That was a joke.
As expected, Norin successfully brought Bruce through the wall.
What greeted them was a short-haired girl wearing thin clothes, looking frail and weak.
"Is this the Supergirl you mentioned? Can her eyes really shoot lasers?"
Bruce doubted whether such a fragile-looking girl could help them.
She looked like she could barely handle ten people on her own!
"You'll see once we get her out."
Then, to Bruce's shock, Norin took advantage of Kara's weakened state, picked her up, and kissed her—a full-on French kiss!
"…"
Bruce was silent. He wondered if he'd trusted Norin too much. He'd gone through all this trouble, crossed an ocean, just to help Norin act like a creep?
But Kara was too weak to wake up.
She had no idea her first kiss had been stolen while she slept.
After pulling away, Norin even smacked his lips, as if savoring the taste.
Bruce remained silent.
"Alright, we should get out now. I'll explain later."
Norin didn't bother explaining his actions. He was too eager to get outside and bask in the sun.
Time was running out. He didn't have the energy to win Kara over, nor the time to explain much.
The most urgent task was to boost his strength to Henry Cavill's Man of Steel level before Zod arrived.
Otherwise, even with the Flash's help, defeating Zod and destroying the World Engines would be nearly impossible.
After all, even Henry Cavill's Superman, who'd been soaking up the sun for decades, struggled to destroy the World Engine.
Seeing Norin's urgency, Bruce knew the situation was dire. By now, he mostly believed Norin's doomsday prophecy.
It was time to head back and make a solid battle plan.
The return trip was uneventful.
Molecular mimicry was the ultimate stealth ability.
Without prior preparation, who could stop someone who could phase through walls and sink into the ground?
Even if someone saw them, they'd probably think it was a hallucination.
Norin carried Kara and led Bruce safely outside.
The moment they stepped into the open air,
Kara's eyes snapped open.
At the same time, Norin felt the sun's energy pouring into his body from the atmosphere.
His body, like a woman starved for decades, hungrily absorbed the energy.
Every cell in his body competed to grow stronger.
Double! Triple! Quadruple!...Ten times!
The rate of enhancement was beyond human comprehension.
In just a few breaths,
His strength surged like an ocean. Every movement felt like it could shatter the ground.
"This is the superhuman power I've always dreamed of!"
Before Norin could revel in his newfound strength,
Kara, still on his shoulder, regained consciousness as her body absorbed the solar energy. When her eyes met Norin's, she froze.
So handsome.
There were people this good-looking in the world?
Kara's heart skipped a beat. With just one glance, she was captivated.
But she was Supergirl, after all.
She forced herself to look away and tried to break free from Norin's grip, jumping down.
But she realized Norin's hands were impossibly strong.
Noticing Kara's movement, Norin snapped out of his daze and gently set her down.
"Who are you?"
"You can call me Norin, Kara Zor-El. It's nice to meet you."
Norin's smile was like the rising sun, melting away all the cold. Kara was absolutely enchanted.
