Coin’s Edge: Reincarnated as a Extra

Chapter 72: What’s happening to you, Hector?

Tap!

Tap!

Tap!

"Why don't you say anything, little rat?" the muscular jailer snarled, lashing Hector's body with steady, violent strokes.

Of course, he wasn't using his full strength—if he did, there was no way Hector could have endured it.

After all, the muscular jailer was truly an Adept-Rank Awakened.

By now, Hector was in a miserable state, the result of all the previous beatings. He was hanging from the wall by chains, which dug deep into the bruises on his wrists.

His face had long since lost its color—not just from the agony tearing through him, but from the return of the symptoms.

And this time, he wouldn't be taking any capsules to dull the mental pain.

The jailer observed Hector for a moment. The boy was completely covered in blood, with only scraps of clothes still clinging to him. His breath grew jagged and weighty at this point as though he barely breathed at all.

It was all the jailer's doing. A seasoned tormentor like him made it clear—Hector had no chance of escaping this cursed fate.

He was sinking into a state where death would feel like mercy.

"Tsk! Fucking rat!" The muscular jailer spat in disgust, then slowly walked to a chair and sat, resting before continuing his cruel work.

A few minutes later, just as he was about to stand up and resume the torture, the creak of the prison door echoed through the room.

He turned toward the entrance and bowed slightly in greeting, his back straightening in a show of respect.

"My young master, what brings you here?"

Silence.

Haley just stared at Hector for a long moment—then finally spoke, his voice cold as ice.

"Nothing much... I just came to watch your work. Don't mind me. Just pretend I'm not even here."

"Yes, sir! As you wish," the muscular jailer nodded politely, then resumed torturing Hector.

And so, everything continued like that for hours—until Haley finally gave the jailer a command.

"Stop... I need to speak with him."

The muscular jailer looked at Haley, slightly surprised. But the look didn't last long—he didn't want to risk angering his young master. He let out a shallow sigh, set the whip down, and quietly exited the prison.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Haley's footsteps slowly approached Hector, until he stood right before him.

"I told you... I made sure you'd live. Not quite enough to die."

...

"Urgh..." Hector's head throbbed at the sound of those words, and it was difficult for him to process anything in his current state.

Blood still streamed from his wounds, showing no signs of healing—not even slightly.

Clearly, he didn't have a trace of mana left to trigger any regeneration.

He slowly lifted his head, struggling to focus on the figure who had just spoken. He forced his blurry eyes to stay open.

But before he could fully register what was happening, he was overwhelmed by a rising tide of sound in his ears.

It was like the constant, maddening buzz of mosquitoes.

"That's you!"

A few seconds later, Hector finally recognized the figure—not just as Haley, but as something deeper clicked within his fading consciousness.

His jaw tightened. He glared at Haley with pure killing intent.

He tried to lunge at him, but the chains held him back, binding him in place.

However, he didn't give up. He kept trying, even though it was clearly pointless.

He let his rage overwhelm whatever calm and control he had left.

Truly, anyone in his place would have done the same—especially after the cruel treatment Haley had inflicted on him.

"FUCK YOU! I'LL BUTCHER YOU!" Hector roared with wild fury, even though he barely had any strength left in him.

A flurry of curses echoed through the prison.

And then—silence, as Hector pushed all of his remaining strength into that one final outburst.

"I like that... So, you already understand your fate when you stand against me."

Haley exhaled softly, ignoring Hector's fury.

"Thank you for the effort, even if it didn't go the way I hoped. I'll give you a reward for that. You'll live—though not completely."

He turned to leave, but paused when Hector suddenly spoke again.

This time, Hector wasn't shouting. He simply stared at Haley, eyes wide and voice low.

"You'll regret this… If you let me live, I swear it."

...

Haley looked back at Hector.

An emotionless gaze.

Then he sighed once more.

"Well, you should know—I really hate foul mouths. But I suppose I must praise you... Not many rats dare insult me to my face."

"So, I'll just take one thing from you. Let's say… your power."

Shing!

A flash of light sliced through the air—and vanished.

Instantly, a deafening shout in agony echoed through the prison.

"MY EYES!"

It was raw, painful, and miserable.

"Good sound," Haley murmured, watching Hector writhe in agony after he slashed his eyes.

"Don't worry. My mana is quite... unique. No one and nothing will be able to help you. You'll stay blind—forever."

He walked lightly toward the prison door, speaking his final words without looking back.

"Watch your filthy mouth."

***

On a broad balcony, rounded with lush potted plants, a peaceful silence blanketed the air.

The gentle sounds of birds chirping echoed softly in all directions.

It was a place of rest.

No poison.

No gossip.

No violence.

Only tranquility.

And in the garden beside the balcony stood a young man, his eyes closed as he observed the world around him.

But if one looked closely, faint scars marred his eyelids.

He was blind—yet somehow, he saw the garden as if his vision remained.

Several minutes later, He began to exhale deeply and weighty in boredom.

"Sigh... I'm starting to regret trading my eyes for power. This world feels so dull through these eyes."

Ring!

"Huh?" he muttered.

Something strange had startled him, left him frozen for a brief moment.

Without hesitation, he pulled a coin from his storage system.

He stared at the coin, which was now glowing with a soft golden light, and grimaced in confusion, because the tracking coin that he had given for Hector had activated back after a few months, and lost the signal.

"What's happening to you, Hector?"
