Calculating My Way To Immortality

Chapter 76: Dog Ancestor [PART 1]

The members of the Snow Heaven Sect looked up at the cultivator floating above, his overwhelming aura pressing down on them.

Liu Meihua observed the scene and sighed. This sect had new problems almost every day. It would have been better if she had just run away and become a rogue cultivator instead of submitting.

Alas, it was too late for regrets now.

Studying the person above, she felt certain he was stronger than all their sect elders combined. She guessed his power to be at the Golden Core Realm, though she didn't know where exactly in that realm he ranked.

She wondered how Xueling would deal with this. Would it finally be time for that mysterious guy to show his true abilities?

As she wondered this, Yu Tian and Xueling appeared before the cultivator.

Yu Tian glanced at Xueling, and she instantly understood, moving forward with a smile. She cupped her fists and bowed. "This dog Xueling greets the dog ancestor," she said.

She deliberately spoke loud enough so that even those below could hear, causing them to break out in laughter.

"You..." The Dark Moon Hall Grand Elder was furious.

He was about to lash out, but in the end, he chose to calm down. Being able to do this in front of someone like him showed impressive guts. They would definitely be useful in his plan of amassing power to take over the Dark Moon Hall and unite all the sects in the region.

He felt that although their sect had enough power to contest with the three righteous sects, the Sect Master had always been hesitant. For them to improve, they needed even more resources, so sharing resources with the three righteous sects was impossible.

He shook his head. He needed to focus on this first.

"Kid, you have some guts to say that in front of me," the dog ancestor said. "Since it's your first offense, I am willing to let it slide." He tried to appear reserved.

"Thank you... dog ancestor," Xueling said.

This time, the people below didn't laugh. Instead, they looked at the scene nervously. Even Liu Meihua was surprised. This kid... even after the dog ancestor gave her a way out, she was still pushing it.

On the other hand, Xueling maintained a sweet smile. She thought to herself that the man was trying to get them to have a proper conversation, but she couldn't let that happen. At this moment, the letters were probably already reaching the sect masters of the three righteous sects.

She needed to create an irreconcilable conflict so the sect masters would find them engaged in a life and death battle when they arrived.

There was no need to worry. Yu Tian had already confirmed that either of them could easily take on this dog ancestor. Well, Yu Tian could do it easily. As for her, she could at least match him in power, though winning definitively would be hard without relying on the suppression rune. This was because this dog ancestor was actually in the mid stages of the Golden Core Realm.

The dog ancestor stared at Xueling before him and Yu Tian behind her, who also maintained a similarly sweet smile. He wondered what was wrong with these two. He had clearly given them a way out, yet they kept insisting on this.

He calmed himself. He was at fault for instigating them in the first place. Maybe their pride wasn't allowing them to back down when their entire sect was watching. Well, he understood that as someone who tried his best to look good in front of his subordinates. He decided to be the bigger person and give in.

They wouldn't push him even after he clearly gave in, right?

"Sect Master Xueling, it was my fault for offending you. I apologize," the dog ancestor said, cupping his fists. He knew about Xueling from the little information he had gathered from his intelligence network. He hadn't expected her to be so stubborn though.

Anyway, with this, she should be able to let it go and see the bigger picture.

Below, people started chatting, wondering if the powerful cultivator was actually giving in.

Xueling observed the dog ancestor's smug look. He was quite patient, letting himself be treated like that by someone he considered inferior. But for her, she preferred he wasn't this patient. She decided to push him even further.

"Dog ancestor need not be so polite," Xueling responded politely.

This was the final nail in the coffin. The dog ancestor had just about had it with her. Even someone as patient as him had their limits.

"I've given you so many chances, yet you dare not give me face? Today, I shall bury your Snow Heaven Sect!" he roared as he charged toward Xueling.

Yu Tian stood in perfect sword form, and a sword appeared in his hands.

"How good is your acting?" Yu Tian asked.

Xueling smiled. "Much better than yours," she replied.

"Well, we'll see about that..." Yu Tian said with a smile as he disappeared from his position.

A few moments earlier.

At the Misty Peak Sect, Sect Master Yun Shuiruo's eyes widened as she read through a letter that had just arrived. At the same time, a similar scene was playing out in the Eastern Valley Sect with Sect Master Lin Changfeng, and in the Righteous Sword Sect with Sect Master Duan Jianming.

After finishing reading the contents of the letter, Yun Shuiruo didn't waste a second and charged toward the Snow Heaven Sect. As she flew, she wondered how she had missed this kind of information. A seventh grade alchemist was actually hiding in the Snow Heaven Sect?

As she thought of this, she suddenly felt other powerful presences behind her. She stopped and turned around. She was surprised as she recognized the incoming figures, who also slowed down upon seeing her.

"Sword Saint Duan, Daoist Changfeng," she greeted politely.

"Greetings, Mist Fairy," the two spoke in unison.

"Did you also receive the letter?" she asked.

They all showed a look of surprise before admitting it.

"Then let's go together," she proposed, and the two agreed.

As they flew, Yun Shuiruo wondered why the Snow Heaven Sect had taken so long to send the letter. With this kind of ability, they wouldn't have dared to put on airs and would have instantly recruited them.

Her eyes suddenly widened as she realized something.

"I have a bad feeling about this... let's speed up," she said, and the others agreed, moving even faster.

Author's Corner

Mist Fairy/Sword Saint are daoist titles. They are sometimes used to refer to others in certain situations. Like in private between them sect masters, they'll use this. In public: sect master + surname

Also, the imperial surname will be Yun. yun as in the character for cloud. since it's the thousand mountains empire, and at the peak of the mountains are clouds…
