Chapter 2: 2
The receptionist that was in front of Kenshin wasn't the same person he usually meets at the hospital. She was wearing a nurse uniform but she looked like she was about same age as Kenshin. Her hair was black but her eyeballs were yellow...ish.
"I'm here to see my sister" kenshin informed.
The nurse stared blankly at him.
"Umm?, Hello?" He called out, bringing her back to reality.
"Ohh, right. Yeah" The lady blushed. "What's the name of the patient?"
"Where is the nurse that used to be here?" He asked.
"Ohh, you mean Samantha?" Usagi said.
"Yes" kenshin answered.
Actually, he honestly didn't know her name, he has never been good with remembering names and faces of people he has meant before, except for the ones that lived with him, this was one of the many reasons why he wasn't able to make friends.
"Yeah, miss Samantha" he repeated again, trying to memorize the name.
"She got posted to another hospital, so I'll be replacing her"
"You work here!. But you look like you're about my age." He expressed his surprise. "That by the way, my sister's name is Yuri Akatsuki"
"Okay" Usagi replied. She typed on the computer in front of her for a while before informing him. "Room 208"
"Thank you" kenshin replied and made his way to the elevator when the young nurse called him back.
He stopped and turned around only to see her behind him, with her head bowed, she handed him a piece of paper.
"Please, take me my number. You can call me later, if you are free that is" she said shyly.
Kenshin took the paper from her.
"I will-" he looked at the paper. "Usagi"
But she was already gone.
_what was that about_
He took the elevator and headed to the fifth floor, as he walked down the hallway, he looked at the paper again before tearing it into pieces.
_i don't need your pity_
He thought as he threw the pieces of paper into a trash can that was in the hallway. He has always it when people sympathize with him, he felt like he didn't need anyone who was not his family member to see his weak side. Because of that, he never made any friends, always staying on his own made him looked tough and gain him some respect when he was still in highschool, he had to drop out so he could focus more on Yuri since their parents were dead. She was his only family, and he was also her only family.
Kenshin stood in front of the room and prayed in his heart for his sister before knocking on the door and walking in.
The room was painted white, with a window opposite the door, there was a white drawer that was made with wood that was beside the bed, just underneath the window with a vase and a bouquet of flowers in it, kenshin always changed the flowers once in a week.
It was Yuri's favorite, since she couldn't pick a particular type of flower as her favorite, kenshin always brought all the types he could find.
Yuri was in bed, asleep. Kenshin sat on bed and rested his legs on the chair that was beside the bed.
Looking at his sister who was dried up, tears started streaming down his eyes. Yuri who was once the most beautiful girl in whole world was now a dried up old woman, most of her hair had fallen off, her body was now thin, and her eyes were bloodshot.
He allowed his mind to wonder as he flashed back to when she was first admitted to the hospital.
It was a year ago, when Yuri first got into highschool.
"Big brother, check out my new uniform" Yuri yelled and spined twice, almost revealing her panties. She shyly covered her skirt. "Did you see anything?"
"I didn't see anything!" Kenshin blushed as he quickly paused the game he was playing on his computer.
"I don't mind, you can look if you want" Yuri said and pretended to raise up her skirt.
"I said no!. Why would I look at my little sister?"
"To me, you're more than a brother to me. You're my father, you're my boyfriend and you're also my husband too"
"You shouldn't say stuff like that" I stood up. "Come on, I'll walk you to school"
"Don't worry, I can take care of myself. Besides, I'm a highschool student now" Yuri smiled. "You should go to to work quick, so you can come back and make some bacon for lunch"
"Okay, if you say so"
...
Kenshin came back from work in the afternoon so he could prepare some food for Yuri before she comes back from school. As he walked to the kitchen, the telephone began to ring.
"Hello" Kenshin said as he pressed the phone against his ear.
"Is this the Akatsuki's residents?"
"Yes, what's the problem?"
"Well... Hmmm, miss Yuri Akatsuki just fainted and has been taken to the hospital"
"What!?" Kenshin paused. The phone fell off his hand, without wasting any time he quickly ran to the hospital. There was only one hospital in the area, so it was hard to get there.
"Where is my sister!?" Kenshin yelled as soon as he got in the hospital.
As Kenshin looked around, he saw the principal and some bunch of female students and one male. Kenshin quickly walked to the principal, avoiding the students who shifted back visibly scared.
"Where is Yuri?" Kenshin grabbed the elderly man by his collar, choking him in the process. "What did you do to her?"
The man was stunned by Kenshin's actions and with Kenshin still choking him, he couldn't speak properly.
Kenshin swung a punch that landed on the man's cheek, sending him flying and crashing into the chairs which were arranged for visitors.
"Tell me, what did you do to her?"
Kenshin was about to swing another punched at the man when someone caught him from behind.
