Blade of the Goddess

Chapter 298 - Destruction

"Haaa!" Zion opened his eyes, finally awakening from his coma. His body was sore, weak, and he was very hungry. To him, it felt like his body was destroyed and rebuilt over and over again, which it actually was.

Because of his mind being elsewhere, it took a minute for him to adjust to being back in his body, his mind a bit fuzzy and his vision blurry, but after a bit, everything went back to normal.

"Zion! You're awake!" Lidia yelled, pouncing on top of him.

"Oof! Haha, hey, babe. How's everything going?" He asked, but instead of answering, Lidia just cried.

"W-What's wrong?" He cuffed her face, kissing her lips, then hugged her to make Lidia feel safe with him.

"It's Bahamut," Alice responded, hugging Zion as she entered his room.

"What about him? Did he attack Luminera and beat her up? Hahaha!" Although Zion was joking, the faces of everyone told him that what he said was not too far from the truth.

"Wait, what the fuck happened?!" He looked around once more, seeing all of his girls, but what stood out to him was the room that he was in.

"My space bunker?" He asked

Lacey nodded. "Bahamut, he...he took his anger out on the middle world, causing tons of death and destruction. We managed to get all of our friends and family to the many safe bunkers you crafted, even the civilians were taken there, but about thirty percent of the total population, between all races, were killed."

Zion couldn't believe what he was hearing. One moment, he was fighting Arion, and the next, he was in his space bunker because Bahamut destroyed the surface of the world. It was a lot to take in.

Lidia had hugged him tighter, her cries getting slightly louder. "M-My father!" She sniffed, "He didn't make it."

Victor Brightburn, Zion's father-in-law. He was the only father figure Zion had growing up, and he really respected the man. Hearing that he passed really made Zion angry.

"Melina? Varina? Syrune? Crystal? How are they?" He wondered.

"They're all okay. No one close to us died thanks to being prepared. But Sir Victor risked his life saving everyone from his territory, even going up against Bahamut himself when he descended." Lacey informed him.

Zion's anger rose even further. "Where's Erebosa and Luminera in all of this? Surely they wouldn't just sit around and do nothing."

"They left for the heavenly realm, including Tessa. After that, we had no contact with them." Luna spoke softly.

"But Tessa should still be able to talk to us." He pointed out. "We should always be able to speak with her. She's literally in almost all of our technology. She's in our heads for crying out loud."

"There's some sort of interference blocking her signals, stopping us from communicating," Rebecca said, coming into the room with a data pad in her hands.

"I'm leaving." Zion got out of bed.

"No! You just woke up, you're weak right now. We're safe here! If you go back down to the planet, you can be killed! The angels are currently there destroying things and enslaving the people who survived. Please stay!" Lidia begged.

"Angels? Why are they helping Bahamut? What happened to Lilith?" Now things were getting out of hand. Lilith's army was supposed to subjugate the angels, but now the angels are working with Bahamut? Things were going completely wrong.

Lacey's face darkened. "Lilith was close to completing her mission, but Bahamut interrupted her, killed half her forces, and she had to retreat back to the demon world. She got injured protecting them and is currently recovering."

Zion clenched his fists hard. Nothing was going correctly, and he had to do something about it. "I'm leaving."

"No! Zion, please-"

"I'm. Leaving!" He released his energy, overwhelming everyone in the room, forcing them to their knees. He hated the fact that he had to do this, but he wasn't going to wait around for more bad things to happen.

"I love you all, and I'm sorry." He teleported into space and rocketed down toward the planet.

---

The moment Zion broke through the atmosphere and saw the surface of the world, rage filled his body more than it ever did. The entire continent, every kingdom, even the smallest and most obscure villages, were decimated.

Fire, death, and destruction replaced the vibrant atmosphere the continent once had. Instead of people cheering with happiness, they were crying from fear and sorrow.

Angels were killing or enslaving the population, or what remained of it, the ones who didn't make it to a bunker.

This sight, this horrible, horrible sight, reminded Zion of his old world, of Earth, of the way he lived before, the pain, the hardship, the death, all the bad things he had to suffer through in the past.

It's funny how he would be content with destroying the world for his goal, yet seeing the world in this state made him very upset. It was hypocritical of him; however, he didn't care.

"No! Never again. NEVER AGAIN!" His energy exploded from his body, drawing the attention of all the angels on the planet. With rage fueling his actions, he stepped onto the sky, space cracking beneath his feet, and rocketed toward the surface to completely slaughter every angel in sight.

"It's Zion!"

"He's here!"

"Alert Lord Bahamut!"

"Kill him!"

Zion blitzed past dozens of angels, taking their heads off or ripping out their hearts. He spared none of them and brutally slaughtered them all.

"Stop him-ARGHHH!"

"He's too fast! No! No please! I have a fam-argrhrhhh!"

Thousands of angels ganged up on him, but they couldn't do a thing to the godly being they were facing off against. He killed them left and right, using their limbs as weapons, their bodies as shields, and beat them so badly that they were unrecognizable.

"All of you will die today!" Zion clasped his hands together, focusing on the nexus pool energy in the three realms. Then, with all of his rage, anger, and power, he blew it up.
