Blade of the Goddess

Chapter 288 - The Divine Barrier is broken

"Lilith, I really, really, really want to kill you!" Karyndra cursed. "You helped kill my Azmorath!"

"Actually, it was all Zion who did the killing. I just sat back and watched." She admitted

"You were fucking knocked out bitch!" Zion shouted

"Shut up! She doesn't have to know that!" Lilith shouted back

Karyndra shook her head. "I already knew you were injured. Luminera showed me the entire battle!"

"Ha!" Zion laughed.

"You know, Kary, we used to be friends, but your superiority complex has gotten the better of you. If you had stayed loyal, you would have been in the same position as I am." Lilith argued

"Do you think I can see the fucking future? Besides, with the gods always present, I wouldn't be able to do whatever I wanted anyway. Why do you think all the other archangels arent around? I don't like being challenged. I don't like sharing power. And I don't like being ruled."

"So you kill them? They were your family."

"Yet you killed all the achdemons? Talk about being a hypocrite."

Lilith looked down, thinking about her actions. Then she looked back up at Karyndra. "The moment they betrayed my husband is the moment they stopped being my family."

"I wont go down without a fight," Karyndra smirked, and a whole army of angels descended from the sky.

"Good. I was hoping this wouldn't be too easy." Lilith's army got into battle positions.

Karyndra smirked, knowing that she would win this encounter. "To me, my sentinels."

No one came.

"What? Where are they?!" She yelled

"Oh, them? Ha, about that." Zion pointed to Tessa. "She took over their matrix and merged with their bodies."

"I-Impossible! You shouldn't be able to control their matrix! ONLY I CAN!"

"Is she deaf?"

"Maybe?"

"I could have sworn I said that you took over the matrix, not controlled it."

Tessa nodded. "No, no, you did say that, you're not tripping."

"Phew, okay, that's good. Ahem. Learn how to fucking listen, you dumbass overgrown chicken!"

The overgrown chicken remark really pissed Karyndra off so much that she stopped talking and just started attacking anything in sight until Lilith engaged her and they started their epic battle.

"Ohohohoh! This is great! Tessa, record this!" Zion smiled.

"On it."

Just as Zion was enjoying the battle, an arm stretched out and pulled him inside his fracture.

"AHHHH! What the fuck?"

"Hello."

"Oh, Luminera. What's up? You could have called, you know."

"How did everything go? Did Willow give you her power?" She asked.

"Straight to business, I respect it. Yup, she did. That's the good news, though."

She tilted her head. "There's bad news?"

"Well, did you know that as a demigod, absorbing her power would turn me into a god?"

She chuckled. "Duh, every god knows this."

"Fucking hell, why didn't anyone tell me. Whatever. So the bad news is that the process will take 200 years."

"Oh." She frowned. "That's not good."

"That's what I said. But Willow was being a bitch and said she did her part."

"Technically, she did."

"Shut up. This ruins everything. I mean, yeah, sure, I feel stronger, but I'm not a god. Fighting the gods will be tough. But there is some great news that came out of all of this."

Luminera's interests were piqued. "Please, tell me the great news that came out of this."

"Yeah! Tell us, Zion!" Erebosa said, appearing out of nowhere.

"Tessa successfully absorbed the sentinels and merged them into her new body. She has their power." Zion grinned.

The goddesses were left stunned. They knew that Zion had some way to stop the sentinels, but didn't think they would use them for their own purposes. That changed a lot of things.

"This is great! She has the power to kill a god! This is better than we expected!" Erebosa said, jumping up and down with delight.

"Yeah, sis, but it will take Zion 200 years to become a god," Luminera informed her.

"Oh." She frowned.

"So you knew I would become a god too?!" Zion asked

"Duh. Only a dumbass wouldn't know that absorbing the nexus energy would make a demigod a god."

Zion had to hold back everything in order not to punch her in the face.

"Things are in our favor, though." Luminera pointed out.

"How so?"

"First, Zion completed his task in the middle world and in the underworld. Our strength has fully returned, and the other gods have been weakened. Our forces are currently taking over the upperworld as we speak, and that would only leave the heavily realm as our last target."

"You're right." Erebosa grinned. "We also have the sentinels on our side, thanks to Tessa, and Zion is stronger than ever... kind of."

"Fuck you."

"There is one problem, though."

"What?"

Luminera pointed up to the sky. "The divine barrier is broken."

"Ohhh, shit!" Erebosa rubbed her head in frustration.

Zion looked at the sky, then back at the twins. "What? What's wrong with that? It doesn't matter since the demon world is ours and the angelic world will be ours soon."

"No, Zion. The divine barrier was also to prevent the gods from entering the world."

"What?! That's not what you told me!" He remembered a while ago when he learned about demons and the Great War.

"That barrier was different. This new one, which my sister and I created, was to keep the gods out. If Lilith is fighting the angels, then who's battling the gods?"

Now Zion was understanding the situation. "Ohhhh. Fuck."

"Luckily, the gods wont do anything stupid now that we are in control. If they try to descend, then they will be at a disadvantage."

Zion thought the exact opposite of what Luminera was thinking.

"I disagree. Because the gods were pushed back to this point, they would probably want to be proactive this time. They lost their followers. Their army has probably lost the war with Karyndra, and you two have regained your power. Not to mention, I became a demigod and am on track to become a god. I doubt that they would just wait around for me to become a bigger threat while also allowing us to strengthen our forces."

"Shit, Lumi, he has a point."
