Assassin God: Rise of the Strongest Player

Chapter 44 : Nash and Bella

Nash was busy farming wolf kills in the [Lycan Hills] when he got a notification that someone was looking for him in real life.

Disappointed that his flow in the game had been interrupted, Nash frowned and proceeded to log out.

"I will see you guys later," he said. "Got something to do in real life."

Nash logged off and sighed with frustration.

Removing the head gear and opening his eyes, the image of Bella became clearer with passing seconds.

"What the fuck?!" Nash shouted and pushed back from where he was on the bed.

"How did you get in here?"

Bella was standing close to the door with her hands firmly placed on her waist.

Her face was bland and threatening, almost scaring the shit out of Nash who had not expected her to be in his room of all places.

Was he dreaming? Because everything he was seeing now felt unreal.

Nash blinked several times but the figure of Bella Codrin did not disappear from his sight.

"Nash Elias O'Neil! What are you doing!" Bella scolded him like a mother would reprimand a stubborn child.

Hearing Bella's harsh voice, Nash was sure that it was indeed not a dream.

What was going on?

Bella had been giving him cold responses since his last fight with Zebadiah that left him in the hospital.

So, what made her come here today?

Nash was gaping at Bella, confused by her sudden presence.

"What are you staring at, you pervert?" Bella snapped at him, underlying a light tone in her voice.

Before Nash could even comprehend what she was saying, Bella had closed the distance and raised her hand in an attempt to strike him.

"What the hell?" Nash responded quickly, "Relax!"

Bella stopped her hand mid air and glared daggers at him.

"Why do you even want to hit me? Is this "thank you" for saving you?" Nash pointed out. "Tch! Repaying kindness with evil is crazy."

Nash playfully teased her, trying to play it cool since this was the first since he returned from the hospital that he was this close to Bella.

Somewhere at the back of his mind, he was worried that the distance between them will keep getting longer and longer until they became strangers, but it looks like that would not be the case.

Bella then withdrew her hand to her back and looked away with her face burning red with embarrassment.

"Sorry," she apologised and Nash, who had emotionally blackmailed her and saved himself from being slapped, couldn't help but laugh.

The atmosphere soon went silent and they looked at each other at intervals before Nash finally broke the growing awkward silence.

"You have yet to tell me why you are here, you know."

Bella looked at him and with all seriousness, she replied, "I'm in danger."

Nash looked past Bella, searching to see if there was anyone following her that looked dangerous.

"Nash, Zebadiah has my father's approval, and we both know how he's going to be acting now."

"Help me, please," Bella pleaded with him pitifully.

Nash stared blankly at her.

Just some days ago, he had gotten into a fight with the same Zebadiah and here she was, narrating another story that sounded like it would end in yet another fight between the two of them.

"With my father backing him, I really can't say what he will do next."

Nash was not happy with what he was hearing.

"Wait, wait…" Nash finally processed what Bella mentioned to him earlier. "Your father… like your real dad gave his blessings that you two came together."

Nash was stunned.

He tried his best to keep his feelings in cheek but the tone of his voice exposed all the sourness in his heart.

"How am I supposed to help you out here?"

Bella felt terrible for having to drag Nash into what was looking like a family issue but she was coming off as desperate and that was how Nash was seeing it at the moment.

"I can not be with someone like Zebadiah, Nash. Even if it's my father's decision, I am still me and can't let him decide my destiny for me."

Nash understood her.

Perhaps, him standing up for her against Zebadiah's abuse some days ago helped in opening her eyes.

Bella might have gone silent on him but they were good friends prior to that fight and even there, she still cared about him especially when he had issues with Zebadiah and then Greg after that.

Nash sympathized with her but even if he wanted to help, there was only so much he could do considering that her father had approved of Zebadiah Gates.

"So what do you want to do now?" Nash asked with clear intent. "You want to run away from home?"

Bella sat down and lowered her head.

"Yes," she answered decisively, "I've been thinking about it for a while and that is the only way."

Nash raised his eyebrows in shock.

"Hahaha!" Nash laughed. "How will you cope in the city? Even with finding a place and getting by."

Bella frowned, but regardless of that, she understood where Nash was coming from.

The Codrin family were wealthy and Bella didn't need to do so much or even bother about her welfare, since that was her family's problem.

Now that she wanted to run away, there was no plan of how to live after that.

"That's why I came to you," she said, her eyes bubbling and twinkling as she stared at Nash. "Will you help me find a place to stay?"

Nash swallowed a lump in his throat that wanted to stop him from making use of this opportunity to progress his relationship with Bella.

"You can stay with me," Nash suggested. "If you want to, that is."

Bella blinked several times.

She did not expect Nash to ask her such a thing.

She looked around the dormitory room, wondering how he wanted her to move into this space.

There were already three other people living here with him.

Nash noticed how Bella was observing their room and smiled.

"I'm not talking about this place, silly," he teased, playfully poking her forehead with his finger.

"I'm moving out too."
