Chapter 43 : Bella’s Show of Interest
(Novice Village #21, Apex Online)
The trouble was finally over and all of the Vain Scarlet guild members had disappeared from the scene, leaving Nash and LadyFlame smiling at each other.
They finally had a breathing space to run their business as players started returning to purchase things from them.
The numbers increased and because the instant recovery potion was a splendid product at this stage of the game, it was a guaranteed sale.
In a short while, they sold everything that Nash had made.
Nash stepped away from the scene to observe, surprising at how quickly he and LadyFlame just made $5000 just within a few hours.
He was thinking about it while also observing how LadyFlame did her advertising.
"Sorry," she apologised with a cutely sorry expression on her face. "We've run out of potions."
"Tch! It was almost my turn," one of the random players cried bitterly, disappointed that he couldn't lay his hands on the treasured item.
"That's disappointing."
"When are you restocking? Pleaseeee!"
"Anytime you do, please let us know."
LadyFlame nodded her head. "Of course. If you didn't buy and will still like to, you can send me a friend request. Feel free to send me a message anytime. I honestly do not mind."
One after the other, the player clients of theirs abandoned the scene until it was just the two of them left.
"And that's your 30%," Nash said as he transferred LadyFlame's share of the sales to her just as agreed.
"I will be going to the trading centre now," LadyFlame said.
Nash was surprised. "So fast?"
"Yeah. I kinda need to sort out something in real life with real cash. I'm glad this came at the right time."
Nash chuckled and massaged his neck. "That's okay."
"Catch you later then."
"Sure."
With that, even LadyFlame left.
Nash was still in trance.
It was his first time making such an amount of money, much less in one day.
The feeling was unreal to him.
However, he was relieved.
Little by little, his problems were about to have a permanent solution.
He had the advantage of rebirth and Null, and with those he would be able to make even more money in the future.
Nash exhaled and stood from where he sat. "I guess I will just go and farm kills."
While making money was important, it was also equally important to raise one's level as a player so one is not left behind.
Hours passed in real life, and Nash did not realise it.
He had once again missed class, even longer than was usual for him and Bella couldn't help but notice.
******
Bella Codrin observed Nash's seat, wondering what could possibly be going on with him that made him miss classes a lot these days.
She felt uneasy about the whole thing but she wouldn't know for sure unless she hears something about him or from Nash herself.
While she was lost in thought, the sudden stroking of her hair by someone startled her and pulled her back to reality.
Bella shook and turned immediately, her face suddenly frowning as soon as she saw this person.
"Hey, babe," Zebadiah said to her as he walked back to his seat.
Bella did not reply.
Zebadiah was also one of the reasons she was uneasy, especially now that it seemed like her father approves of Zebadiah's interest in her after finding out.
This made her sick to the stomach and angry but it was her father, and there was basically nothing she could do about it.
She knew Zebadiah would become even bolder with his advances now that her father supported him.
Because of this, she couldn't help but think about Nash. He was the one person who had attempted to save her from Zebadiah Gates.
Even though he took a beating for it, Bella still very much appreciated the gesture and cherished Nash for that since that day.
'I'm sure Zeb would want to hang out with me after school today, and if I say no, he would force me like the last time,' she cried in her heart, heaving a loud frustrated sigh as if saying "fuck my life".
She was worried now and a part of her blamed her father for it.
Her only glimmer of hope, or so she believed, was Nash.
Bella stood from her chair and went over to where Nash usually sat in class.
"Hey, Toby."
"Huh?" Toby blurted out, startled.
He turned and saw Bella standing next to where he and Nash shared a space, almost dazzled to see her here.
Tobias swallowed reflexively in disbelief.
"H-Hello, Bella."
"Please, do you have any idea where Nash is?" Bella did not have any other choice but to ask his seat mate. "I really would want to talk to him."
Tobias was surprised.
He knew that Nash liked Bella, but from his point of view, Bella never responded in a way to make him think the feeling was mutual.
'Is she jealous that Senior Eileen had come to find Nash? Now, she is finally showing interest in him,' Tobias thought, giggling mischievously in his heart.
'Nash, you player!'
Tobias cleared his throat and shrugged. "I have no idea."
Bella narrowed her eyes into slits as she stared at him with laser focus, making Tobias feel uncomfortable.
"You are lying, Toby."
"What do you care about him?"
"Come on, it's important," Bella persisted and so it continued for several minutes before Tobias finally gave in.
"Nash has been acting strange of late though. It feels as if he is no longer interested in school work and is always playing games. I can bet that he's in the dorm playing a game right now."
Bella was saddened by this information.
Nash was not a lousy student nor did he have terrible grades that would make a student give up hope.
So what was the problem?
'You should visit him, Bella,' she considered, her face immediately flushing red with that thought.
"I will right back, Toby," Bella said and left the class.
"O… Okay?" Tobias muttered slowly with a shrug, wondering why she was telling him that as if she needed his permission or something.
Little did Tobias know that Bella was actually going to the dormitory to find out what was going on with Nash.
