Assassin God: Rise of the Strongest Player

Chapter 28 : Seeing is Believing

Eileen had not exactly figured out what Nash meant by "us" and for some other unknown reason, she found herself rushing to get to the [Fiery Marsh].

Getting there, he noticed that Nash was already waiting and seated behind him was another person whom she did not recognise.

That person was LadyFlame.

Eileen stopped to catch her breath while Nash walked up to her.

"You are here," he said.

Eileen nodded her head. "I-I came as fast as I could."

Nash then extended his hand to her as if demanding for something.

For a moment, Eileen was confused and after a few seconds, she realised that Nash was asking for the wolf liver she bought.

Nash already made low life potions with the ones he got and until he made potions with the ones that Eileen will give her soon, they were not going anyway.

"Oh, the wolf liver?" Eileen asked.

Nash exhaled. "There's that but I want your hand. I want to introduce you to someone."

He grabbed her hand and walked over to where LadyFlame was sitting.

Eileen saw her, checked her out and witnessed the bazoongas on her chest while reflexively swallowing as she wondered who this person could possibly be.

"Who's she?" Eileen finally spoke.

"Our new team member," Nash answered, attracted stares from both ladies.

"Her name is LadyFlame," Nash said as she turned to LadyFlame. "LadyFlame. This is Eileen."

The two ladies exchanged pleasantries, added each other to their respective friends list and without wasting any more time, Nash got into the business of making the potions after collecting the rest of the wolf liver which Eileen bought.

A couple of minutes later, Nash, Eileen and LadyFlame were standing at the entrance of the fire dungeon, ready to clear.

However, LadyFlame was still not satisfied as she kept looking around like she was searching for something or waiting for someone.

"What's the problem?" Eileen asked her.

"Nothing!" she blurted out, not knowing that she's been made. "Just that… I was thinking we will wait for the rest of the group before entering."

Nash and Eileen looked at each other.

"Rest of the group?" they chorused.

Noticing the confusion in their eyes, LadyFlame's eyes twitched a bit.

'It can't just be the two of them alone as a team,' she thought.

"Where are the rest then?" she asked, voicing her thoughts out. "No way, it's only the two of you in a team."

"It's just the two of us," Nash replied.

LadyFlame did not know how to react but she was disappointed.

"Are you serious right now?"

Nash and Eileen nodded, making no attempt whatsoever to even cover up.

LadyFlame sighed and massaged her forehead.

It was usually common to have a few people in a team, somewhere between 8 to 10 people for starters, especially since they were still starting. However, large groups can have up to twenty or thirty people as members.

"We can just go in like that," LadyFlame started to argue. "I'm not about to lose my experience points just to show off. You realise that we can die in there… the three of us, right?"

LadyFlame felt like Nash had deceived her when in actuality, he never told her anything that was false.

"Are you more concerned with the number of people in the team or the quality of the team?" Nash asked her, his face straight as an arrow since he was no longer having it with LadyFlame's whining.

He tilted his head to one side and continued to speak. "Even though we are just two, we've completed this dungeon but have you? No, you haven't. Do you have a team that meets your criteria who are willing to take you in? No, you don't."

Nash gestured for Eileen to come with him as he walked past LadyFlame with one final statement.

"If you are interested, then you can come along. Otherwise, you can stay here for all I care."

LadyFlame watched them walk away as she considered her option which was not a lot of options.

"Fine!" she mouthed reluctantly while joining them into the dungeon.

******

'What!' LadyFlame exclaimed in her mind, her jaws nearly hitting the fiery ground of the dungeon.

Immediately they entered the dungeon, Nash swiftly killed the fireflies with ease.

He didn't wait for them to attack and simply went into action, using his high attack power.

LadyFlame's mouth trembled as she couldn't find the words to describe what she was watching.

The power of Nash's attack shocked her and now she regretted underestimating him.

LadyFlame swallowed and simply watched, unable to do anything.

Eileen gave her a sidelong glance and felt for her.

She completely understood how it felt to be useless in a situation that directly concerns you. That's how Nash makes her feel all the time they go for one quest or the other.

Nash turned back and extended his hand to LadyFlame.

"Can I have it now or are you still doubtful?"

LadyFlame snapped out of her daze, her mind lacking words to reply.

"H-Huh?"

"The skill book," Nash answered, guiding her thoughts.

Without any hesitation, LadyFlame brought out the [Dash] skill book and handed it to Nash.

After what she just saw, her confidence in Nash's ability skyrocketed.

Nash accepted the book and learned the skill just like he had done with [Stealth].

"Keep your fire resistance tonic handy," he advised, "Good that you have a lot because you will need to be consuming them more often than not."

LadyFlame, who was still dazed, nodded in obedience.

She was a different person now from how she was before they entered the dungeon.

Seeing is believing they say.

*Snap* *Snap*

Nash snapped his fingers a few times. "I mean right now, you know."

LadyFlame startled. "Oh! Yeah, right! Now."

Eileen chuckled, covering her mouth with her palm, as she watched the two of them.

LadyFlame quickly took a vial of her fire resistance potions, quickly restoring her HP.

"Let's go!" Nash fired them up as they charged into the next level of the dungeon to fight the flame pumpkins.

All the time they were charging forward, LadyFlame's expression failed her as her lips curled into a smile.

She couldn't help but blush as she watched Nash ahead of her.

'This guy…'
