chapter 28 - A Pretty Daiyu, A Beautiful Keqing! (4/4)
Alright gentlemens, let's be real here.
The fact was, heroes summoned by a Lord were inherently programmed with a certain degree of loyalty and favorability. In some ways, they were more reliable than a Lord's own family; relatives could betray you, but a hero would willingly die for you. As for Lin Daiyu and Qin Keqing… Wu Chi was no saint. It was impossible not to be moved. He was a man with a strong possessive streak, and, to be frank, a certified horndog.
"That… does make a certain amount of sense," Wu Chi finally managed, a slow, predatory grin spreading across his face.
Lin Daiyu's eyes sparkled with mischief, a perfect picture of refined, elegant schadenfreude.
"In that case, Young Master, perhaps you shouldn't let Sister Keqing change out of her wedding dress at all. You could just proceed directly to the bridal chamber with her. It would be terribly inefficient to waste such a perfect opportunity, wouldn't it?" With that, Sister Lin let out a soft giggle, her stunningly beautiful face alight with pure, unadulterated teasing.
Wu Chi’s face darkened, a muscle twitching in his jaw. He reached out and pinched her smooth, cool cheek.
"If there's any consummating to be done, it'll be with you first! Don't think I don't know you're just trying to stir up trouble."
"Hmph! You're utterly shameless!," Lin Daiyu retorted, though the blush that rose on her cheeks betrayed her amusement. She turned as if to leave, a classic strategic retreat.
"Don't go," Wu Chi said, quickly grabbing her hand, his grip surprisingly firm.
"We still have {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} to open the loot boxes!"
He dumped the pile of junk at her feet, a silent order.
"Come on, let's put that new luck bonus to the test!" Wu Chi announced, pulling out a few dozen of the [Hoarfrost Rotting Corpse Kill Chests].
With Lin Daiyu doing the honors with an air of elegant duty, notifications began to pop up one after another.
Obtained: Void Crystal x7, Void Essence Stone x3.
Obtained: Void Crystal x3, Equipment [Rotten Armor].
Obtained: Void Crystal x5.
Obtained: Void Crystal x1.
…
A single point of Luck might not seem like much, but when applied to over six hundred boxes, the difference was palpable. The final tally from all 618 chests was a hefty sum of Void Crystals and Void Essence Stones, 17 pieces of absolutely worthless equipment, and three new territory building blueprints: [Barracks], [Mausoleum], and another [Arrow Tower].
Wu Chi gathered the currency and then sifted through the equipment with a growing sense of disappointment. All of it was between level 5 and 10. Twelve gray-quality pieces and five white-quality ones. The stats were an absolute joke.
Without any ceremony, she accepted the one decent item he’d pulled from the gacha, the [Heavenly Silk Gloves], directly absorbing them into her "equipment slots." She chose to display them. The white, scale-patterned silk clung to her long, slender hands, looking less like cloth and more like the shed skin of a white serpent. It gave her an alluring, almost dangerous aura, a hint of the monster slayer beneath the poetess.
Next were the rewards from the battle itself: the skill book and a class change certificate. The class change required level 10, so that had to wait. The skill book, Frost Breath, however, was usable by either of them. He showed it to Sister Lin.
Her beautiful eyes scanned the description, and she shook her head.
"This is not suited for my path, Young Master. Qin Keqing, however, is exceptionally gifted. She will surely excel in the magical arts."
"You're right," Wu Chi agreed, recalling Qin Keqing's stat sheet.
Just as he was about to examine the new building blueprints, the soft sound of footsteps reached his ears. He looked up, and his train of thought completely derailed. A breathtaking figure emerged from the [Red Chamber].
She moved with an ethereal grace, her hair elegantly pinned by a single jade hairpin, a few stray strands framing a face that was a perfect, heart-stopping blend of demure frailty and stunning beauty. She paused, her lips pressed together, looking timidly at Wu Chi and Lin Daiyu. Her phoenix-like eyes shimmered with unshed tears, as if she might start crying at any moment. She was wearing a light green gauze dress, cinched at her slender waist with a red, jade-inlaid belt, making her look both noble and vibrant. Beneath the hem of the dress, her long legs were pressed together, her skin as white and smooth as polished jade. Wu Chi found his gaze locked onto them, completely unable to look away. A heavy, rhythmic pounding started in his chest.
"She truly is a great beauty," Lin Daiyu said, her voice filled with genuine surprise. She walked over and gently took Qin Keqing's hand.
"Sister Keqing, welcome. Do not be afraid of this oaf, he is mostly harmless."
"Thank you…" Qin Keqing's voice was as lovely as a songbird's, full of a charming timidity.
"Sister Keqing. I also come from… a place far from here, so please be more at ease!" Lin Daiyu continued in a hushed, comforting tone.
The two women began to speak in quiet voices. Lin Daiyu had clearly sensed Qin Keqing's fear and unease and was now comforting her. Wu Chi didn't want to intrude. He simply stood back, drinking in the sight of the two of them together, his heart filled with a dizzying mix of excitement and pure, unadulterated joy.
"This Legendary territory trait is the best thing that has ever happened to anyone in the history of the universe!" he thought, a stupid, happy tear of drool almost escaping the corner of his mouth.
"A 100% chance for beauties!"
What about Peppa the pig?
Well, among pigs, Peppa was definitely a looker, okay? Don't judge. (TL note: agreed!!!)
