Aevintyr Elds

Chapter 21: The Guild

Inside a dimly lit room, numerous people are around a rectangular table…

Remarkably, these people are not of one race only, but of multiple races… There were elves, as well as normal humans. Beastmen are also uncommon within these ranks..

At the furthest side of the table, in its head, is an elf… This elf is no ordinary elf…

Normally, elves are seen to be beautiful… to be exact, pretty and slim according to human standards. It is also common knowledge in Orario… well in Genkai itself actually… However… this particular elf is neither pretty nor slim…

This elf… is a fat Elf with white hair, green eyes, and short legs. His fat also makes his height seem small. Yes, it is the fat bastard known as Royman Mardeel.

Royman is a haughty Elf who holds others in contempt, except for deities. His obsession with wealth has earned him the nickname "Guild's Pig" among other Elves. He harbors a strong disdain for Half Elves, considering them inferior. Despite his unpleasant demeanor, Royman is diligent in his work. Eina speculated that his sour attitude might stem from stress.

No matter how greedy he is, his dedication to his work… and to his patron God, Ouranos, is of utmost quality.

Going back, Royman is the one leading the meeting right now.

"Alright, let's now start the daily meeting for today. Any extraordinary things happening today?"

One guild member, a normal human, raised his hand. Royman saw him and pointed towards him.

"You, what news do you have?"

The Human stood, clearing his throat nervously.

"There's been an incident involving one of the smaller Familia factions. The Volmir Familia got into a scuffle near the market district. No fatalities, but there were injuries, and the damages have been reported by the merchants. They're demanding compensation and stricter control over adventurers."

Royman sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Adventurers. Always making more work for us. Assign someone to mediate and resolve the damages. Make sure the merchants don't think they can extort us for more than what's fair. Next."

The Human hesitated, then added,

"Also, we've received a report about Bell Cranel, the Little Rookie. It seems he's planning to venture into the Middle Floors today."

Royman's brow furrowed.

"The Middle Floors? Hmph. That boy's too eager for his own good. He's still green, and the Middle Floors are no playground. Just because he became the fastest level 2 in history, he can just waltz his way into the middle floors? What is he? A stupid rabbit? Who advised him on this?"

Eina Tulle, seated near the end of the table, raised her hand and responded.

"That would be me."

Royman's glare shifted to her.

"And you thought it wise to let him go? Explain yourself, Tulle."

Eina met his gaze firmly, unflinching.

"Bell Cranel has shown considerable improvement in his abilities. His growth is far beyond what we expected at his level. Still, I did caution him about the dangers and emphasized proper preparation. He's not reckless, and I've made sure he knows the risks."

Royman leaned back in his chair, muttering to himself.

"Hmph. Let's see if the so-called Little Rookie lives up to the expectations everyone's so keen to place on him. Make sure you keep me updated, Tulle. If he gets himself killed, it'll be your responsibility to report it to the gods."

Eina nodded, her expression calm but determined.

"I understand."

The meeting continued, but the mention of Bell Cranel left an air of tension. The Middle Floors were a treacherous step for any adventurer, and all present understood the gamble Bell was taking. Meanwhile, the scuffle with the Volmir Familia hinted at growing unrest within the city, setting the stage for what could be a challenging day for the Guild… but that would be a story for another time.

After a while in the meeting… News between the guild members bounced between each other…

"Any more news more noteworthy than the rest?"

Rose Fennet, Bjorn's advisor, nonchalantly raised her hand.

"Guild Head, I have another piece of news."

Royman raised his chubby hand and pointed it towards Rose.

"Tell me what you have."

Rose skillfully manipulated the tablet in front of her, and in an instant, the middle of the table was lit up, a screen hologram was shown, pointed towards each of the four sides of the room.. Previously, this was also being used by other advisors in presenting their noteworthy updates.

Rose continually manipulated her tablet until a well familiar video was playing in the hologram...…

After a while, the video stopped playing.

The room was in silence… They were shocked… in awe… and some are jealous of Rose… The room was in a clusterfuck of emotions. Despite all this, Rose just nonchalantly continued her presentation.

"As you can see, there is a new species of killer ant. It is quite large. It also secretes a chemical mist which can potentially melt a person. Its strength is expected to be at least close to a new level 2."

Rose looked at her surroundings. She looked at the dumbfounded faces of the people around her.

"Hmm?"

One guild member, still in shock, put his hand onto his face.

"... how the hell…"

Another guild member stood and looked at the blackness of the stopped video.

"This… this guy… the way he fights… the way he dodges…"

Another also stood, this time, in amazement.

"He's amazing right?! I saw him earlier in the building and he's so fucking handsome!"

A Beastman clasped his hands together, his tail wagging with excitement.

"Who is this adventurer? His movements are like poetry! So fluid, so precise!"

An Elf muttered under her breath, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"That level of skill… It's as if he's dancing through danger. Truly incredible. Plus his supporter is kind of amazing too… Knowing what to do to support her person is something else too, you know? Rare for true supports to have that quality."

A Dwarf banged his fist on the table, laughing heartily.

"Ha! I'd wager my finest ale that this guy could take on a Minotaur barehanded!"

The people around the dwarf looked at him. They stared at him like someone saying bad things about the supreme leader in N.K itself.

"Really? That's pretty far-fetched already, right? What is he? Another Bell?"

Amongst all this, Royman, the fat elf, wore a serious expression. He then asked.

"Rose, help me remember… what familia does he belong to?"

"He is from the Loki familia, sir."

"Ah… the Loki familia.... Wait... I remember… The Loki familia had only gained a new member 10 days ago… Don't tell me… he's Loki's newbie?"

Rose straightforwardly said.

"He is the newbie, sir."

Another round of silence surrounded the table…

"Damn…. 2 weeks… and he's that strong already?"

"Yeah… 2 weeks…. That's absurd right? They might be cheating… do we need to… you know, investigate?"

Royman, the leader, said.

"No need to investigate… lest we incur Loki's wrath…. For now, let's report this to our God… Also, grab a picture of this new species, and post it on the announcement board. Meeting dismissed."

The people quietly leave the room, but once outside the room, a fervent discussion surrounded the people of the guild… Bjorn's name would be known and it would not take a long time for Orario to know his name.

5 days after.

Here, we see 2 people eating and talking on the stairs of the dungeon. These 2 people are currently on the 10th floor stairs going to the 11th floor.

One of the people have notable cat ears on their head, and the other have normal ears, indicating that this person is a human,

Yes, these 2 people are Cathy and Bjorn.

The two had just finished eating their food and were packing their stuff.

"I've already finished packing the things, Ser Bjorn!"

Bjorn looked her dead in the eyes.

"Really? 'Ser Bjorn'... Really?"

"Well, people now call you 'Ser Bjorn' hehe."

She then mimicked something annoying, like a medieval person admiring someone.

"Lo, thy swordplay is most wondrous and awe-inspiring! Thee moves and flicks with such grace, and thy footwork is naught but a marvel to behold!"

"Oh shut up."

Bjorn, fed up from Cathy's jokes, started to walk downwards of the stairs.

"Hihihihi! Come on, give me more of your reactions!"

Cathy ran and went ahead of Bjorn.

Meanwhile, Bjorn was thinking about something.

Hmm… it's been a long time since someone came up from the stairs… We rested for 30 minutes and since then… no one went up…

After a while, they had already reached the door that introduces adventurers to the 11th floor… However… what they saw was a bone chilling sight….

Tons of corpses were strung about in the ground… These corpses… were not from dungeon monsters though…. But rather, it was a combination of human, elves, dwarves, beastmen, corpses that were strung….

Their heads, hands, feet, torso, were scattered about….

Cathy immediately went on to kneel and throw up… Her previously eaten food was now laying on the ground… just like the corpses that were laid out…

It is quite amazing but bizarre to think that the contents of Cathy's stomach were the same visual as the corpses of the people...…..

In the middle of this clusterfuck, a 2 meter high unknown monster was seen…. It was eating the head of an elven adventurer...….

"Oh…. what…. have…. here….?"

It can speak?

The monster immediately reached out its hand towards Cathy, who was down on the ground still reeling from the sight, and sent out a bizarre ball of energy.

It can use magic too?!

Before the ball of energy reached Cathy, Bjorn pushed her aside, at the same time, dodging the ball of energy…

However, the ball of energy chased Cathy….

Bjorn knew it would not end until Cathy was hit, so Bjorn put himself between the two. He then unsheathed his sword and slashed the ball but… it went past Bjorn's sword.

The ball of energy hit Bjorn, but Bjorn didn't feel anything.

Instead… a wide circle of energy at least 50 meters in diameter was created around the Bjorn, with the monster inside it. This circular energy also pushed Cathy towards the stairs….

Seeing that Bjorn was trapped inside the circle, Cathy immediately rushed to him… but… she slammed on the surface of the circular energy…

Cathy slammed her small fists on the energy, stabbed it with her knife, but no matter what she did, the energy would not budge.

She shouted and shouted towards Bjorn, but all of this fell into deaf ears.

Inside, Bjorn can hear nothing from the outside… Here, almost all of his senses are congested only within the circle.

His sense of hearing is honed in, his sense of smell, touch, even taste, is all honed in onto the single monster in front of him.

On the other hand, his sense of sight, while still focused on the monster in front of him, can still see the outside of the energy…

"Hmm…. you… sacrifice….?"

Bjorn didn't answer and just stared at the monster in front of him. He knew it was strong… stronger than any monster he had faced… Hell, it also seems to be stronger than the tons of waves of monsters he had faced…

He needs his head in the game.....
