Chapter 227: Don’t Learn Common Sense from Doujinshi
"Oh... so this is your home? It's quite big. Although it's smaller than some castles I've seen, it should be considered a nice house for humans, right?"
Following behind Shin, Tohru quickly arrived at the large estate prepared for him by the Shinomiya family and shared her thoughts on her new home.
After realizing she was homeless, Shin took the opportunity to invite Tohru, and she immediately accepted.
Perhaps because she considered Shin her saviour, Tohru trusted him immensely and followed him without hesitation.
Just as naive as in the original story, despite her formidable strength as a dragon, she harbored no suspicion toward her benefactor.
"It's decent enough. You'll be living here from now on—but you can't freeload. You'll have to work."
Shin opened the gate and walked into the estate. Since it was still dark, the mansion was pitch black, and the maids hadn't gotten up to start their work yet.
"I get it, I get it. You mean the head maid, right? Don't worry, I'll do a great job."
Tohru followed Shin into the estate, nodding eagerly with a confident smile on her face—even though she had no idea what a maid actually did.
However, she believed that as a higher species than humans, human work would be a piece of cake for her, which is why she dared to make such bold claims.
Shin didn't object. He knew Tohru might cause some trouble at first, but given time, she could indeed perform better than most humans.
Before that, though, he had to teach her the duties of a maid.
...
"What's this...?"
In the master bedroom, Tohru was seated by Shin at the computer desk, staring at the screen with curiosity.
Of course, such a large estate wouldn't be without a computer. In the master bedroom, there was a fairly well-configured computer ready for use.
To be honest, when Shin saw the computer yesterday, he almost wanted to move in right away—playing games on this computer would definitely feel smoother.
But for now, Shin had to teach Tohru how to use the computer.
After all, Tohru came from another world and knew nothing about many common aspects of this society, so someone had to teach her.
However, Shin couldn't spend all day teaching Tohru human common sense, so the simplest solution was to let her learn how to use the computer and search for information online.
"This is a computer. I'll teach you how to use it. Afterward, you can use it to search and learn about the common knowledge of this world."
Shin stood behind Tohru, reaching over her shoulder as she sat in the chair, operating the computer and explaining its functions to her.
"I see, so it's some kind of alchemical creation of humans?"
Tohru suddenly understood, then leaned back slightly, pressing against Shin's chest, seemingly pleased to be closer to him.
Shin didn't mind and continued explaining how to use the computer to search for information. Tohru didn't disappoint him and quickly learned how to find the information she wanted. It seemed she would soon grasp the common knowledge of this society.
...
After teaching Tohru how to use the computer to search for information, Shin sat down on the bed, leaving the computer for Tohru to use on her own.
Meanwhile, he decided to try the meditation training method that Merus had taught him during the time Tohru was searching for information.
He closed his eyes slightly, circulating the "ki" in his body, as if preparing for battle while maintaining a cross-legged sitting posture.
Soon, Shin felt as if an imaginary enemy had appeared before him—Merus.
The training sessions with Merus had given Shin a rough understanding of Merus's strength. Although it was likely not Merus's full power, it was enough for training purposes.
In the next moment, Shin felt the "Merus" he had conjured charging at him, swinging a long staff and striking down fiercely.
Shin controlled his consciousness, dodging the attacks of "Merus." Even though it was just an imaginary battle, Shin could still feel his mind highly focused.
"So this is meditation training... Even in an imaginary battle, it helps me adapt to the rhythm of combat."
Shin thought to himself. After meditating for a while, he felt more adept at controlling his "ki."
No wonder characters like Goku and Vegeta in the original story had undergone meditation training, and even Frieza had improved his strength through imaginary training in hell.
Meditation training doesn't directly increase combat power, but it allows one to maximize their full potential.
However, after only a short while, Shin was forced out of this state and woke up.
"Although meditation is indeed useful, it requires a calm mind. If you're restless, the duration of meditation will be short... It seems I need more practice."
Shin realized that the duration of meditation training was related to one's state of mind.
In the original story, when Goku first underwent meditation training under Mr. Popo at Kami's Lookout, the young Goku often broke out of meditation due to his restless mind.
Later, when Vegeta started meditation training, it was only after he had become much calmer.
If it were the old Vegeta, he probably wouldn't have been able to enter a meditative state at all.
After breaking out of the meditative state, Shin tried again but found that he needed to wait a bit longer before he could re-enter meditation, so he gave up.
He opened his eyes and saw Tohru's face right in front of his, staring at him closely.
"...What are you doing?"
Shin looked at Tohru's face, now so close, with some confusion—wasn't she supposed to be using the computer to search and learn about modern society's common knowledge?
"Shin, I've already used the computer to learn about the duties of a maid!"
Tohru, on the other hand, had a subtle look of excitement on her face. She clenched her fists, eager to try something.
"So, I'm going to give it a shot now!"
"That's good... Wait, what are you doing?"
It was a good thing that Tohru had searched for the duties of a maid first. This way, when Shin introduced her as the head maid to the other maids later, she wouldn't be clueless about the job.
But soon, Shin noticed something was off. Tohru suddenly pulled off her cloak, unabashedly revealing her body to him.
Realizing something was wrong, Shin glanced at the computer screen in the corner of the room.
Sure enough, what was displayed wasn't any proper information but rather a doujinshi about maids.
And it was drawn by Kashiwaga Eri, no less.
