Chapter 226: Shin's Dragon Maid?
"Human... how did you get here?"
The massive green dragon stared at Shin, its deep voice giving no indication of gender.
If an ordinary person had stumbled into this place, they would likely be too terrified to speak under the dragon's imposing presence—assuming, of course, that they were still in their right mind.
However, upon seeing the green dragon, Shin immediately understood its identity.
Like the few other unique individuals Shin had encountered before, this dragon was also from a work Shin had seen before his transmigration.
If he wasn't mistaken, this dragon's name was Tohru, a female dragon from another world.
Shin glanced at the dragon's back—sure enough, there was an ornate, massive sword embedded in it, sealing her powers.
"What are you looking at, human?"
Tohru stared straight at Shin, her tone filled with wariness. Her attitude toward humans wasn't particularly friendly.
A faint heat emanated from her mouth, suggesting she could breathe fire—though, with her powers sealed, she could probably only muster a bit of warmth now.
Noticing Shin's gaze, Tohru glanced at the massive sword on her back and let out a cold laugh.
"What? Do you desire me now that you see I'm sealed by this divine sword? Give up. Even with my powers sealed, you can't kill me."
This was Tohru's confidence in her draconic body. Although in her world, there were humans powerful enough to split mountains and shatter rocks, they were still far inferior to dragons.
As a dragon, her body possessed terrifying strength. Even though the divine sword sealed her powers, her formidable physique hadn't weakened.
Based on her understanding of humans from her world, anyone who saw a dragon rendered powerless would surely feel greed—after all, many parts of a dragon's body were rare treasures.
"..."
Shin was speechless as he watched Tohru ramble on. This behavior was somewhat similar to the Tohru he knew.
However, Tohru had clearly misjudged Shin's strength. If Shin really wanted to attack her, her body wouldn't be able to withstand a single punch from him.
Of course, Shin had no intention of attacking Tohru—after seeing her, an idea had formed in his mind.
Yesterday, Hayasaka had taken him to see a new house, and it just so happened to be missing a head maid.
Originally, Hayasaka was supposed to take that position, but since she couldn't let go of Kaguya Shinomiya, the matter had been put on hold.
As a result, the position of head maid in that house was temporarily vacant. Shin certainly couldn't just pick any random, clueless maid to fill the role.
But if it were this dragon—Tohru—perhaps she could take on the position?
Although in the original work, Tohru initially knew nothing about being a maid, after a few days, she quickly got the hang of it and even excelled at the job.
Moreover, Tohru's personality was quite naive. Shin wasn't worried that she would harbor any sinister intentions after becoming the head maid.
"Is this sword what's sealing your powers?"
Ignoring Tohru's strange look, Shin leaped lightly onto her back and examined the massive sword embedded there.
The sword appeared to be an ordinary longsword, but there was a faint, peculiar aura emanating from it, suppressing the energy within Tohru's body.
Shin felt like Tang Sanzang climbing Mount Wuzhi, about to remove the six-character mantra suppressing Sun Wukong.
"Human, you're not thinking of pulling this sword out, are you?"
Tohru seemed to sense Shin's intention and couldn't help but speak up.
"I advise you not to entertain such unrealistic fantasies. That's a divine sword. Even the strongest dragon couldn't pull it out..."
Before she could finish, Shin reached out, grabbed the blade of the massive divine sword, and gave it a gentle tug.
*Squelch!*
The divine sword, firmly embedded in Tohru's back, was pulled out by Shin with ease—he hadn't even used much force.
In the original work, even an ordinary human like Kobayashi could pull it out, which showed that the sword only had an effect on beings from other worlds. For someone from modern society, it was completely ineffective.
In theory, anyone could have pulled the divine sword out of Tohru. She just didn't know that.
"You... how did you do that!?"
Tohru felt a sudden lightness on her back as the power that had been sealed within her body was released.
Without turning around, she guessed that Shin had pulled the divine sword from her back and exclaimed in shock.
"I just pulled it out."
Shin held the divine sword, which was almost as tall as he was, and walked over to Tohru, looking into her massive dragon eyes.
"It's a bit tiring talking to you like this. Can you turn into a human form?"
"Ah... sure..."
Tohru was momentarily stunned, then instinctively complied with Shin's request. Her massive dragon body quickly shrank in a flash of light, transforming into a golden-haired girl.
The girl wore a tattered cloak that barely covered her body. A pair of cartoonish dragon horns were visible on her head, and her expression was somewhat nervous.
Shin observed her. Tohru's appearance wasn't much different from what he remembered, including the impressive size of her chest.
After transforming into human form, Tohru sat upright and asked Shin, who was holding the divine sword, seriously:
"Who are you? How were you able to pull out the divine sword?"
"Just an ordinary student, though I do have a bit of strength."
Shin extended his hand, using his thumb and index finger to make a gesture that would enrage Koreans, indicating that he was only slightly stronger than the average person.
However, judging by Tohru's expression, she clearly didn't believe him.
"More importantly, it seems like you're from another world, right? Do you have a place to stay?"
Shin didn't plan to dwell on the topic of strength. In a mundane world, things should remain mundane. Discussing combat power made him feel like he was still in a mission world.
So, Shin directly addressed the biggest issue Tohru was facing now—shelter.
Driven out by the gods and forced to flee to this world, Tohru couldn't return to her original world. She had no choice but to stay here.
But... she really didn't have a place to live.
Tohru's expression turned awkward.
