Chapter 151: The Hero’s Tomb.
The light it was radiant and blinding, like staring straight into a prism under a thousand suns. He stumbled back, shielding his eyes.
"What the—!?"
Sid shouted, squinting through the brilliance.
But as his eyes adjusted, he noticed something strange. Evelise and Oshan weren't reacting. They weren't covering their eyes or even flinching. Instead, they were just staring at him— Sid. Who was standing there, holding one hand high toward the invisible light, looking completely insane.
"Sid… what the hell?"
Evelise asked, her tone cautious. Oshan added,
"There's… nothing there, Sir."
Sid blinked, lowering his hand slowly. The glow was still there for him… beautiful and impossible, dancing like liquid color in the air but to them, it didn't exist.
"You don't see that?"
He asked, pointing at the light.
"It's right there! The rainbow glow— like, ultra tier loot vibes!"
Evelise frowned.
"All I see is you waving your hand like a fool over the grave of a legend."
Sid's heart pounded. The light began to fade, settling back into the tomb like mist sinking into water. And when it finally cleared, Sid's jaw dropped. Inside was a skeleton, its armor gleaming faintly under his lantern's light. But it wasn't ordinary steel— its surface shimmered with faint, shifting colors, like oil over water. A spectrum of blues, reds, and gold danced across every plate.
It was beautiful. Unbelievably beautiful.
"Oh my god…"
Sid whispered.
"That's— that's not normal loot. That's UR tier. That's rainbow rarity!"
Sid's eyes went wide as he knelt closer, the shimmering reflection of the armor lighting up his face.
"It's real… it's actually real. You two have no idea what that CHING! sound and those blinding colors mean to players who spent their whole lives hunting UR gear! Well… I bought some, but still—"
Evelise rolled her eyes, still clearly irritated that Sid had just opened the national hero's tomb.
"Whatever."
Oshan stepped forward, her expression caught between awe and disbelief.
"That armor… it's made of Celeststeel— the legendary metal forged only for the National Hero, the very first Haribon Guardian."
She paused, her voice softer now.
"I never thought it would still be here after a thousand years. It looks untouched… as new as the day it was forged. The time never faded its beauty."
Sid barely heard her. He was too lost in the sight, the elegant engravings, the perfect sheen, the faint rainbow glow outlining its edges. Every part of it screamed divine tier gear. Oshan's eyes, wide with admiration, met Sid's. They were two perfect mirrors, shining with the same exact desire for the powerful gear.
Evelise looked back and forth between the two of them— Sid, ecstatic over his invisible rainbow loot, and Oshan, captivated by the historical artifact. She sighed deeply and shook her head.
"You two are unbelievable…"
Evelise muttered, her practical mind immediately overriding the historical and digital significance.
"Two big children, gawking at a dead man's clothes. Can we please get to the escape route before this skeleton decides to stand up because you won't stop staring at him?"
Sid grinned faintly, not even offended. His hands trembled slightly as he stared at the armor, his gamer instincts flaring stronger than ever.
"Evelise."
He said, eyes locked on the prize.
"You have no idea what kind of drop this is."
Oshan nodded beside him, her expression serious, clearly impressed and caught up in Sid's excitement as well.
Oshan's eyes narrowed as she studied the tomb more closely. Her lantern light glinted over the carved stone crest of the man and the great bird—Haribon, the Guardian of the Nexus Tree. But something about the carving didn't sit right with her. She leaned closer, her expression thoughtful.
"…Something's missing."
She murmured. Sid blinked.
"Missing? What do you mean?"
Oshan raised her hand, pointing at the carving. The man depicted in the crest was supposed to be holding something near his heart, but there was only an empty slot, faintly shaped like a blade, and said.
"There should be a dagger here. It was part of the legend. The same Celesteel used for his armor was also forged into a blade— a dagger said to cut deeper than anything else. The stories said it even wounded the Nexus Tree itself. No weapon ever could, except his."
"A dagger?"
Sid's eyes, still alight with the rainbow aura of the armor, widened further. His overreaction was immediate and theatrical.
"A dagger?! Are you serious?! A UR Tier Dagger?!"
Sid practically vibrated with excitement, running his hands through his already messy hair.
"Yes! Yes! That's my main weapon! I'm a dagger user! It's my freaking core playstyle! Every wave run, every high score stream, I run a dagger build! This is destiny!"
He was practically hyperventilating over the prospect of finding a blade that perfectly aligned with his core playstyle. Evelise stepped over to the tomb, her expression calm but firm, determined to kill Sid's excitement, and said dryly.
"Don't get too excited, That dagger's been missing for generations. The mayor's family— the descendants of this city's founders, claimed he was still buried with it. But that's just a cover story. Some people say they spread that lie so no one would go looking for it."
Sid grinned wider, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Oh, I definitely want to look for it now."
Evelise gave him a warning glare.
"You have that face again, Sid. The greedy one."
He didn't even deny it.
"Hey, don't call it greedy. Call it… motivated! Imagine the sound— the rare chime. UR Loot unlocked! That dagger's calling me, I swear."
Before either of them could stop him, Sid reached into the tomb and brushed his hand against the armor. In an instant, it vanished in a flash of lightm pixelated and reappeared in his inventory, leaving only a weathered skeleton behind…
[Legendary Haribon Guardian Armor x1 Acquired.]
"Successfully looted! A UR-tier drop! My RNGesus skill is making me blush!"
Evelise and Oshan stared, both dumbfounded. Evelise finally broke the silence with a sigh.
"You… you actually looted a skeleton…"
