Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 136: Contribution Points

Ivy's chest felt heavy as she thought of it. She had once believed all of that was only a string of accidents. But now she could see it more clearly. The military had most likely played a hand in everything.

She clenched her fists under the table, hiding her anger. Thinking back… maybe everything had started from the moment Uncle Stephen died. Maybe Ronan hadn't tried to kill him just because of a grudge… but because a mastermind had guided him.

"What was the answer you got after investigating Ronan?" Ivy asked. Her mind was racing, and many events that hadn't been linked before started to connect.

There was once a guy that a military base wanted to recruit, but he wanted to build his own base.

Later military kicked him out, and the guy, having no choice, decided to stay in an enemy base of military base.

Unfortunately, that guy ended up in Black Vultures, and later, during one of the wars, he died. He was a rather talented and powerful superhuman.

His potential was staggering, S-rank in the thunder element. His potential was only second to Talia and Silas.

Now… it looks like a military base was behind his death.

"Ivy?" Silas's voice snapped her out of her daze, "Can you tell me the content of your vision and who had schemed against us?"

Ivy coughed and explained, "I don't know the face, but I do know that your father died under a fake accusation, while your sister died because of the trauma she had incurred, as for your brother… he died due to his best friend's betrayal."

Silas's expression turned grim. From Ivy's words, he could make out one fact. All of his family members died.

He knew his family members, as well as the resources his family had hoarded. In the next few years, they could live like a king and yet all of them died…

If there was no conspiracy behind then Silas would change his name. Taking a deep breath, he asked in a solemn tone,

"Should my family take over the military base completely?"

Ivy froze; she had never thought of this proposition. After thinking for a while, she nodded with a complex expression, "You can try. But…"

"But?" Silas motioned her to continue. When it comes to scheming, almost no one can win against him, and yet he felt that Ivy was much more knowledgeable than her.

"But I think you will most likely fail." Ivy's heart was heavy. The memories of her previous life made her realize something that she had overlooked.

"Why do you think so?" Silas's heart tightened, and he asked.

Ivy looked down at her hands, her voice low but steady.

"Because the military isn't just one power. It's a mix of many families, groups, and old forces. Even if you take over one base, the others will never allow you to keep it. They will crush you before you grow stronger."

Silas leaned back, frowning. "So you're saying even if I succeed once, I'll just make more enemies?"

"Yes," Ivy said. "They'll see you as a threat. According to my vision, I didn't notice it at first, but the military always acted together in the shadows. One base might fight another on the surface, but when someone outside tried to rise, they united to destroy that person."

Silas crossed his arms, his sharp eyes fixed on her. "Then what's the point of trying at all? Should I just sit and wait for them to crush me?"

"No," Ivy shook her head quickly. "You should still build power, but not by taking their base directly. You need to build your own, one that doesn't rely on them. Make it strong enough so they can't swallow it. And most of all, make them need you."

"Need me?" Silas repeated, his tone thoughtful.

"Yes," Ivy said firmly. "If you control something they can't live without, like resources, supplies, or even people with rare powers, then they won't dare to strike openly. They'll have to work with you. That's the only way to survive against them."

Silas stayed silent for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then he gave a short laugh, though his eyes were still dark. "You really think far ahead, Ivy. Anyways, I will discuss everything with my father."

"Hm." Ivy nodded. "I have made dinner, let's eat it first."

...............…..

The small room was dark and damp. The wind whistled through the broken gaps in the wall, and water dripped from the ceiling into a rusty bucket.

The woman sat on the edge of the bed, her hands on her knees, her face pale from hunger. She looked at the man, her voice weak.

"Are we going to go hungry again today?"

The man's chest tightened when he heard her words. He forced a small smile and reached out to hold her hand.

"No. Don't worry. I will find food for you. Soon, we will have a full meal. Just a little more, and we will collect enough contribution points."

The woman curved her lips into a smile, but it was thin and weak. Her eyes showed the truth. She was starving.

She was only smiling to make him feel better. Seeing that smile made the man's heart ache even more.

That day, he joined a team of fighters who went out to clean the zombies around the base. The battles were long and bloody.

His arms felt numb from swinging his weapon, and his body was covered with sweat and dust. By the end of the day, he was exhausted, but when he went to collect the reward, his heart sank.

Only twenty contribution points.

He stared at the number in silence, then gave a bitter smile. All day of fighting and risking his life, and it was worth almost nothing.

Still, he did not complain. He pressed his lips together, took out the two hundred contribution points he had saved up, and added the twenty points.
