Zombie Apocalypse: Creation

Chapter 648: Next Day Exhaustion

When Xiaoyun arrived at the bathroom to take a shower, he was instantly pulled by his wives to the bathtub.

By the time he was out of the shower and sitting in the living room, it was already nine o'clock at night.

"Brother Xiaoyun, you okay?" Lily nervously asked, noticing the tiredness on his face.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine... Did you already feed the babies?" Xiaoyun asked, shifting the conversation away from himself.

"Yeah. And I took Qiaolan and Lianrong to the potty afterward. I also helped them wipe their butts, too."

"That's good. That's good."

As a bunch of clanking sounds came out of the kitchen, Xiaoyun remained seated on the sofa, not daring to check by himself.

"What's happening in there?" Lily wondered.

"Probably someone dropped something... Lily, what do you want to watch?" Xiaoyun asked as he turned on the TV.

"Um... How about a movie?"

"What movie do you want to watch?"

"Any is fine."

Xiaoyun quickly selected the scariest movie he could find. All he wanted at this point was to make himself forget what had happened in the past hours.

---

The next morning...

When Xiaoyun woke up on his bed, he was all alone in his room. Looking up at the clock, it was already past noon.

"Fuck... I still have work today."

He shook his head a little as his body felt beyond exhausted. The moment he tried to support himself back up, a sticky feeling instantly caught his attention.

Memories of last night flooded in as he slowly sat back up. Once again, he noted to himself not to leave his wives alone for more than a few days.

"Ugh, my legs..."

After walking over to the mirror to have a look at himself, he could see the dried stains all over his body, from head to toe.

In the background, the bed was also covered in dried-up stains, from the blanket all the way up to the pillow.

"I'm definitely not cleaning it this time. Yucks..."

Walking over to the bathroom, he quickly entered the shower area, turned on the water, and grabbed the bar of soap to scrub every part of his body.

By the time he was clean enough to head downstairs, it was already almost one o'clock in the afternoon.

"Hey, Honey, you finally up?"

"Yeah... Is there something that I can eat?" Xiaoyun asked as he followed Leyan into the kitchen.

"Of course."

As Leyan carried several dishes out of the stovetop, he quickly noticed that all of the food was nourishment for a middle-aged man.

"Is there anything else I can eat? All of these look so weird." Xiaoyun murmured as they all seemed to be weirdly shaped.

"Honey, have you ever heard of the idiom Doctrine of Signatures? I went to the market to buy all these early in the morning just for you."

She paused for a second as she leaned over to whisper words that instantly sent a chill down his spine.

"We still want more tonight, okay? You know how hard it was for us to hold it in for two weeks?"

"Fine, fine."

Xiaoyun picked up his chopstick in the end, taking a bite of whatever food was on the table.

Although none of the food tasted good, he was too hungry to care at this point as he kept shoving in more rice and more food into his stomach.

"Slow down, honey. You're going to choke if you don't chew your food."

"I'm fine——Ahem ahem."

As she handed him a cup of water, he instantly chugged it down before letting out a small burp.

"I'm full."

"Great——"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Too close."

"What?"

Leyan looked back at him in confusion, grabbing the empty bowl in front of him as she couldn't understand his overreaction.

"N-Nevermind."

Xiaoyun quickly shook his head as his mind thought she was trying to sit on top of his lap to have sex with him.

"Honey, you should probably take a break from work for today. It doesn't hurt to miss a day... Besides, you're already late anyway."

"No, no, no, I have to meet up with Yuqi and Houqin to catch up with everything I missed..."

As Xiaoyun got up from his seat and was getting ready to leave, he turned around one last time to say something.

"Oh, almost forgot, can you clean up the bed later?"

"I was just waiting for you to wake up to clean it."

Before Leyan walked over to wave goodbye, Xiaoyun had already exited the house as the sound of the door closing traveled to the kitchen.

"Geez, do I look that scary?" Leyan murmured as she thought back to how she treated Xiaoyun last night.

---

"Commander, you okay? You look a little exhausted today." Houqin curiously asked as Xiaoyun sat across from her.

"I'm fine... Have you done last week's report?"

"It's in my cabinet right now."

Houqin quickly reached over to her cabinet, taking out a file before handing it over to Xiaoyun's hand.

Opening the cover, the information inside was things that Yiming had already told him the day before.

From the 3rd army corps heading over to Zhongshan, or south of Guangzhou, to the surge of zombies towards Dongguan, there wasn't anything new.

But after flipping past the first few pages, he finally noticed something different in the western direction.

"Zhaoqing is almost finished?"

"Yeah. It's been pretty much cleared, other than a few remote towns that the troops haven't reached yet." Houqin answered.

"That's good... Tell Yezi to keep going west. He needs to reach Yanfu city and then go down the road towards Maoming next."

Houqin nodded, noting it in her notebook.

"Also, tell Han Bang to be careful when attacking Zhongshan... His job isn't to clear the city. He just needs to hold the zombies at bay."

Houqin nodded again as Xiaoyun got up from his seat, walking over to the strategic map that rested on the other table in the room.

"Tell Yiming to get ready to leave the eastern front. He's going to be the one in charge of taking Jiangmen city in the south."

"But how about the defense at Shenzhen and Dongguan?" Houqin questioned.

"The 4th Army Corps is going rotate in to take their place... Might as well have them out for some real combat experience rather than training all day."

"Yes, sir."

After writing down all of Xiaoyun's orders, Houqin soon noticed something that was missing.

"Commander, who's going to be in charge of the 4th Army Corps?"

"Hm..."

Xiaoyun fell into silence as his mind couldn't think of a person who stood out particularly during his stay in Shenzhen.

"Is Lingang free yet?" Xiaoyun asked.

"He's still on his last week of vacation break since he came back from Shenzhen... Do you want me to recall him early?"

"Just have him be the temporary general for the 4th army after his break ends," Xiaoyun answered.

"Okay..."

"I almost forgot, how's the 5th Army Corps recruitment going so far? Are they fully trained yet?"

"Um... Let me check it for a second."

Houqin turned towards her computer, typed on her keyboard, and a result popped up on her monitor.

"They had been training for a month so far... I don't think they are ready for combat yet."

"That's fine... Is there anything else I need to know outside of this report?" Xiaoyun asked as he put the file back down onto her desk.

"There's a letter that Mayor Leifeng had sent over... He wants you to read it personally."

As she pulled out a closed envelope from her drawer, Xiaoyun was a little surprised, as he didn't expect Leifeng to send him a letter.

"Leifeng? Why would he send a letter through you rather than through Yuqi?"

"I don't know, sir."

Xiaoyun quickly opened the envelope, only to see a small piece of paper the size of his hand.

Inside was a little request, one that asked him to loosen the restriction on soldier recruitment and expand the number of soldiers being recruited.

"No wonder he sent this letter through you... Yuqi would definitely not like this if she got her hands on this."

Putting the letter back into the envelope, he signaled Houqin to put it away for him before he created a piece of paper in front of her eyes.

"Let me borrow your pen real quick... Okay, can you send this letter back to Leifeng? And make sure Yuqi doesn't know about it."

"Commander... Can I ask what's inside the letter?"

Houqin curiously asked as she sealed the letter Xiaoyun had written into a brand new envelope from her drawer.

"It's just me telling him I will think about it... He asked me to loosen restrictions on military recruits."

Xiaoyun quickly added the last part after noticing her face looked a little confused.

"I see... But why don't we loosen it? I don't really see the need to put such a strict guideline in recruitment."

"That's why I said don't show this to Yuqi earlier."

"Oh! Right... I completely forgot about that." Houqin shyly murmured, feeling a little embarrassed by how slow her brain reacted.
