Chapter 11: Season 1, Episode 11: Re-Match, Part 1
After Frank's duel, Joseph, Frank, and Nick ran into Clyde. Clyde said, "Well, well, well. Look who it is, the only person I've ever lost to." Joseph said, "Hello, Clyde." Clyde showed Joseph his deck and said, "What do you say to a re-match? Here and now." Clyde activated his duel disk, and so did Joseph. Joseph said, "Clyde Tinker. I accept your challenge. Now I have seven coins. How many do you have?" Clyde said, "7 also. And five say I win." Joseph said, "Agreed. So the loser gets two while the winner gets 12." Clyde said, "Agreed. Now draw your cards, and let's get started." Jenn got an alert on her computer, so she pushed the button on her remote, and it showed Joseph's duel with Clyde on her TV screen. Jenn said, "Clyde's in a re-match with Joseph. I got to see this. Maybe even the people will enjoy it." Jenn sent the video file to every TV in the city so those not participating in her tournament could watch the duel. Clyde and Joseph drew their first five cards. Clyde saw he drew Gamma, The Magnet Warrior, Graceful Charity, Fusion Gate, Super Junior Confrontation, and Pot of Greed. Joseph drew Ninja Sword, Eva, the Ninja Girl, Jacob the Musketeer, Mountain Cave, and Kitty the Wizard.
Both their Life Points started at 8000, and Clyde began the duel. Clyde drew Winged Kuriboh from his deck and said, "I play Gamma The Magnet Warrior (1500/1800) in Attack Mode. That ends my turn." Joseph drew Malena, the Ninja Girl, from his deck and said, "I can't play anything, so I pass this turn." Clyde said, "I can't believe I lost to you." Clyde drew Fusion Recovery from his deck and said, "Gamma, attack him directly!" Frank said, "Joseph doesn't have anything to protect himself." Gamma attacked Joseph's Life Points, and Joseph lost 1500 Life Points, bringing him down to 6500. Clyde said, "That ends my turn." Joseph said, "And starts mine." Joseph drew Palace Dungeon and said, "I lay 1 card face down and end my turn." Clyde drew Elemental Hero Bubbleman from his deck and said, "I summon Elemental Hero Bubbleman (800/1200) in Attack Mode." Joseph said, "Activate trap, Palace Dungeon." Then, the entire field turned into a Palace Dungeon, and Clyde's monsters got shackled. Joseph said, "With this trap out, all your monsters get trapped, decreasing their power by 300 points. They also can't change their battle positions or attack since they got trapped in my dungeon. But of course, as a price, I'll have to discard a card from my hand each turn. If I can't, the trap will get destroyed." Jenn said, "Now they're in for it. If Joseph keeps losing cards, he can't play them, but if he doesn't discard them, Clyde will get the chance to attack." Joseph's family watched the duel on TV and thought Joseph had the upper hand for now. Then Gamma's power dropped from 1500 to 1200, and Bubbleman's dropped from 800 to 500.
Clyde said, "It's still my turn, and I play Graceful Charity. So, I draw three cards and discard two." Clyde drew Y-Dragon Head, Polymerization, and A Hero Emerges. Then he discarded Super Junior Confrontation and Polymerization. Clyde said, "That ends my turn." Joseph drew Megan the Wizard from his deck and put Mountain Cave in the graveyard to keep Palace Dungeon on the field. Joseph said, "I'll throw away a card to keep my trap and end my turn." Clyde drew Negate Attack from his deck and said, "I lay 1 card face down, and I'll play another monster face down in defense mode. And since your trap only works on face-up monsters, my defense card will remain un-effected by your Palace Dungeon. That ends my turn." Jenn said, "Clever way to avoid Joseph's trap. These two are practically even, and predicting who wins is hard." Everyone participating in Jenn's tournament watched the duel on TV screens and cheered for whoever they thought would win. Duelists also started to arrive at their location and watch the match.
Joseph looked at his deck and thought, "The Palace Dungeon is a good start, but I can't play any monsters in my hand. I need to draw one that I can." Joseph drew Treetop Snake Pack from his deck and thought, "Perfect." Joseph said, "I summon Treetop Snake Pack (1300/1250) in Attack Mode. Destroy Gamma, The Magnet Warrior!" Clyde said, "Activate Negate Attack! As said in the name, Negate Attack negates any attack thrown at me." Joseph said, "Yes, but only for one turn. So next turn, you're Magnet Warrior or Bubbleman, is a goner. I'll discard a card to keep my Palace Dungeon and end my turn." Joseph then discarded Jacob The Musketeer from his hand and sent him to the graveyard. Clyde drew Swords of Revealing Light from his deck and said, "I lay 1 card face down and play the magic card, Pot of Greed. Now I can draw two new cards from my deck." Clyde drew Prophecy and Monster Reborn from his deck and said, "I'll lay another card face down and end my turn." Joseph pulled Musketeer Attack from his stack and said, "I'll now sacrifice my snakes to summon…." Clyde said, "Wait. I activate Prophecy. This magic card lets me guess whether you're about to play a monster card above, below, or equal to 2,000 points. And if I happen to guess correctly, the card is mine. And my guess is it's equal to 2000." Joseph looked at his card and saw it had 2,000 attack points. Joseph said, "Lucky guess."
Since Clyde was right, Joseph and Clyde walked up to each other, and Joseph gave the card he was about to play to Clyde. Joseph said, "Here." Clyde took Joseph's card and looked at it. Clyde said, "Eva, The Ninja Girl, huh? I can't wait to play her against you." Clyde and Joseph then walked back to their positions and continued the duel. Joseph said, "Don't think my turn has ended. I'll still sacrifice my snakes to summon a different ninja monster, Malena, the Ninja Girl (2000/1400). And I'll power her up with Ninja Sword. This magic card gives my ninja a 300-point boost. Then, Malena's power rose from 2000 to 2300. Joseph said, "Now, Malena, the Ninja Girl, destroy Elemental Hero Bubbleman." Clyde said, "I reveal, A Hero Emerges. This trap lets you randomly select a card from my hand, and if it's a monster, I can summon it to the field." Joseph said, "Card #3." Clyde said, "Thanks. You've allowed me to summon Y-Dragon Head (1500/1600), and he'll take the blast for my Bubbleman." Then Malena, the Ninja Girl, destroyed Y-Dragon Head, and Clyde lost 800 Life Points, bringing him down to 7200. Joseph said, "I'll now discard 1 card to keep my trap and end my turn." Joseph discarded Musketeer Attack from his hand and sent it to the graveyard. The people watching started to cheer for both since they were going at it like two evenly matched duelists, and Jenn was impressed by both and their strategies.
Clyde drew Card Destruction from his deck and said, "I'll sacrifice my Elemental Hero Bubbleman to play the card I got from you, Eva, The Ninja Girl (2000/1100). Joseph said, "Now she gets trapped in my dungeon." Eva, The Ninja Girl, then got shackled, and her points dropped from 2000 to 1700. Clyde said, "I'll end my turn." Joseph drew Rapid Ride from his deck and said, "Malena, The Ninja Girl, destroy Gamma, The Magnet Warrior!" Then Malena, the Ninja Girl, destroyed Gamma, the Magnet Warrior, and Clyde lost 1100 Life Points, bringing him down to 6100. Joseph said, "And that puts me in the lead. I'll now discard a card to keep my trap and end my turn." Joseph discarded Rapid Ride from his hand and sent it to the graveyard.
Joseph's family and fans were impressed and cheered for him since he took the lead. Clyde drew Queen's Knight from his deck and said, "I throw a monster face down in defense mode and end my turn." Joseph pulled Queen's Palace from his stack and said, "I play the field spell, Queen's Palace." Then, the entire field changed from a dungeon to a castle, and Clyde's monsters disappeared. Clyde said, "Where are my monsters?" Joseph said, "Down in the dungeon, of course. I can combine Queen's Palace with Palace Dungeon and make this field a giant castle with its very own dungeon. And with Queen's Palace in play, no dragons are allowed on the field. Now, Malena, The Ninja Girl, go into the palace's dungeon and destroy your partner, Eva, The Ninja Girl." The Malena went into the dungeon and destroyed Eva, and Clyde lost 600 Life Points, bringing him down to 5500. Joseph said, "I'll now discard 1 card to keep my trap on the field and end my turn." Joseph threw Kitty the Wizard out of his hand and sent it to the graveyard.
Clyde drew Breaker the Magical Warrior from his deck. Ella, who was watching, said, "Joseph has Clyde on the ropes. It doesn't matter what he plays." Luna said, "What about that?" Clyde said, "I play Breaker The Magical Warrior (1600/1000) in Attack Mode." Joseph said, "It doesn't matter. My ninja is much more powerful, and my trap will chain your Breaker." Once the chains from Joseph's trap came at Breaker The Magical Warrior, Breaker The Magical Warrior sliced them in half. Joseph said, "What? My trap didn't affect your warrior?" Clyde said, "Nope, because thanks to his arrival, I placed a spell counter on him, which raised his power by 300 points. But I returned his power to normal by removing the spell counter so I could destroy one of your magic or trap cards. And I'll give you one guess on which one I chose." Joseph looked at his Palace Dungeon trap and saw it got destroyed. Joseph said, "He destroyed my Palace Dungeon trap." Clyde said, "That's right. And now that I have, I'll take control of this duel."
