My eyes opened up, and I stared at the ceiling with sweat dropping from my forehead. I could hear my heart beating fast and was unable to calm down. My body was set in a fight or flight mode, and right then, a surging headache came to me. It felt like my skull was being split in two, and I grabbed it hard, gritting my teeth.
"ARGH!" I tried to hold back any scream by biting down on my tongue, but it was not helping. "AAAARGH!" I yelled in pain.
"Kazu-kun?" Ai called out my name, and I could see her silhouette in the dark. My eyes started to hurt, and I could see nothing but her blood vessels before me. How her blood was pumping through them.
I stretched my hand to reach for her, and she leaned against me. Her scent entered my nose, and I couldn't hold back any longer. I pushed her down against the bed and grabbed her head in my hand, pulling it away from her shoulder. Her sweet spot on the neck was calling for me to drink from it. Her scent, her taste, Ai….I want it.

"Go on…" she sweetly whispered in my ears, and I could no longer hold back anything. I dug my teeth into her neck and started drinking from her. It was as if I had never tasted blood before. It was sweet, nostalgic, like the hard little candies I had back in the day. I sucked on them, over and over, savouring every bit of the sweet taste. They slowly melted in my mouth with my saliva and got slightly smaller with each suck. They are my favourite types of candies. I can decide how fast or slow I want to finish them. Taking my time or letting the greed take over. Where I have complete control.
My headache slowly started to subside, but it was still prominently stabbing against my skull. Every single fibre of my body felt like it was being rejuvenated as I continued the suck more from the candy. This one was special, like a super candy tasting and smelling absolutely heavenly. It was filled with every nutrient I needed at the time. I started to feel slightly light-headed, and my vision started to focus less, but I still didn't stop sucking.
I felt a hand on my back, lightly patting it. Aah, I see. It's happy that it is being of use to me. Then I'll make full use of it. I sucked harder, making it lose more of its size with each gulp. My body felt a lot stronger, and I pressed it against something soft and cold. It was like hugging a soft, cold cloud, and I couldn't ask for a better feeling. More, I need more of this feeling. I need it.
The candy reached the smallest size it could before it would break under any sort of pressure. I pulled away, not wanting to break it just yet, but I wasn't satisfied. It wasn't enough. My vision had turned red, and I couldn't see anything except for the red lines before me held up in a big bunch. It was moving rapidly, as if trying to push something through it.
Looking to my side, I noticed another bundle of red lines before me. I could smell the sweet scent they were emitting. It was different than before, but it drew me towards it even more than the one before. My headache had still not subsided, so I needed more of the sweet medicine.
The bundle came closer to me and pressed my lips against its cold surface. The smell overtook me, and I couldn't hold back. I grabbed the bundle and pushed it against the bed before I dug into the sweet lines again. It was different, it was better. So much better than before and so much more nourishing than before. My body had the surge of energy pushed through it as I sucked. Nothing the moment could have been more satiating. My headache was calming down faster than before, and I could feel my stomach filling up to its limit, yet I was not able to stop. It was more of a want than a need. My body wanted no more, but my mind didn't agree with it.
I had an overfull feeling in my belly, but my mind decided to ignore it. My body wanted to puke everything out as it couldn't handle much more of any candies. My teeth started to feel a bit too sweet, and soon my entire mouth. I loved sweets, but it was getting too much. I decided to slow down a little, sucking on this candy. It slowed down on its shrinking, and I decided to just enjoy the flavours. It was not nostalgic like the one I had before. It had more of a new, exciting taste to it, I couldn't quite explain. I was still not fully used to it, but it tasted so good that I was not able to stop enjoying it. So sweet, so tasty, and so fragrant.
My headache finally subsided after some more minutes. I started feeling even more lightheaded and fell down, my body fully limp. I could feel all the pain I had gone through before pulled out of my body, and I felt as if I could float if I kicked the ground a little too hard. My vision was blurry, but my senses were still quite active.
I could feel a pair of hands grabbing at my body and squeezing me against something extremely soft and cold. I was being held against a cold mochi, and it was amazing. My head, which finally stopped hurting, was being scratched in the right spot, sending shivers down my body as I held onto the mochi. After such a hearty meal, something like this was like throwing me into an overflowing place of bliss. If there were a paradise, this is exactly what I thought it would feel to be.
My eyes shut, and I let my body float away in the land of dreams. I wish I could tell it was a pleasant dream, but that was far from the truth. I stood there, holding two extremely limp bodies weighing down on me. I looked at them, and there were giant bite marks on their bodies. I could slowly make out the faces, and my eyes widened in horror. Their eyes have lost all life and colour. Their skin is turning paler than usual. I scurried around to look for the culprit. I'll massacre the person who did this to them.
"Are you angry?" A familiar voice asked me, and I turned to meet her eyes. Tears slowly welled up in my eyes, and I couldn't muster the words of relief at being able to see her. "Want revenge on the person who did this to them?"
I couldn't say anything, only nod my head. She reached from behind her and pulled out a mirror, holding it against me. I fell on my back, still holding onto their limp bodies. My mouth was sullied in blood. Their blood. I was the reason this happened to them.
I looked down at them frantically trying to close off the wounds, but it was already too late. Their bodies were disappearing right before me, turning into nothing but dust. I tried to hold onto those ashes, wanting to put them back all together, but nothing worked. I frantically ran after every bit of ash that was flying away from me, but something caught on my leg, and I fell face-first. I turned around to see what it was, and another familiar face of a close person lay before me, body torn open and no life left in her eyes. My hands shook as I slowly reached out for her skin, but another body appeared around her, then another, and another, and another, and another. Soon, I was standing in a room filled with torn-open bodies.
"You did this," the person said to me as they looked at me. "You couldn't protect them, just as you couldn't protect me. Though I wonder if their fate is much crueler than mine. Brutalized by the person they care about."
I tried to crawl away from her, but I started to step on the bodies of people I knew, and my legs stopped. I did this? I caused this? They didn't deserve this. They were so kind and loving to me, and this is what I did? Unforgivable. This is not what was supposed to happen.
"Are you angry at the person who caused this pain?" she asked me, and I looked at her, my body shaking, but I still nodded. "You want to take revenge?" she asked and pulled out a familiar-looking sword.
"Do it," she said as I held the blade in my hands. Without a second thought, I flipped it and screamed as I stabbed it into my heart.
"Kazu-kun!" I heard a familiar voice as my eyes opened up. I could feel water flowing down them, and I stared at the ceiling as two concerned faces entered my mind.
Oh god, what did I do now?
