Chapter 18 - The Little Star Extinguished by The Pursuer II
In the splendid hall, Wang Yuanchen was leaning on a pillar, looking around indifferently. No one dared to come forward and strike up a conversation. Even though he was as beautiful as a dazzling star, the gloomy aura exuded by his whole person was enough to scare away all his admirers.
This was a strange and nonsensical celebration banquet. There was no protagonist in the exhibition, and the only assistant who could represent the protagonist seemed to be in a very unhappy mood. Only Jiang Fengluan, the owner of Moses Gallery and a well-known boss in the industry, was still there. He dutifully made his opening speech on the stage, praising the emerging painter Mr. 215 in all aspects.
The guests dutifully began to applaud, trying to dilute the thick awkward atmosphere in the banquet hall.
Wang Yuanchen yawned and put down the red wine glass. He had no interest in this low-quality liquid, nor in the so-called “celebrities” present. If it weren’t for Han Zhuo’s sake, he would have wanted to go to the guest section in person and give that chattering fat bald man a shove into the sewer.
“Hello, Mr. Wang.” Someone suddenly spokes behind him, “This way, please.”
Wang Yuanchen glanced back at him.
The other party was an ordinary waiter, he added in a low voice: “Mr. Shi is waiting for you.”
.
“Mr. Shi?” Bai Xi plugged in his earphones, “I thought it was Huang Jingyuan. You said it was him last time, with a big position in the underground warehouse.”
“He has a status, but not the most powerful,” Han Zhuo said, “He was not qualified for today’s negotiation.”
“Who was this Mr. Shi?” he asked, “Was he Huang Jingyuan’s boss?”
“He was not just Huang Jingyuan’s boss,” Han Zhuo said, obviously hesitating, but continued, “He was the person in charge of the entire underground warehouse, and he had been abroad before.”
Bai Xi held up the jelly his hand but it rolled to the ground, and he said in shock: “The mastermind behind the scenes?”
Han Zhuo nodded. In fact, even he did not expect Shi Tian would choose to appear at this time.
.
In the living room of Moses Gallery, Wang Yuanchen pulled out a chair. He sat in an arrogant posture and his eyes were full of distain. He turned the diamond ring on his hand and looked at the man opposite him without saying a word – he was probably in his forties, with a lean body, a black suit of good quality, and neatly combed and shiny hair. He looked well-educated and had a kind smile. He was exactly the image of a philanthropic entrepreneur in a magazine.
But he was the nightmare of all superpowers and the mastermind behind all the bloody incidents over the years.
“Baby, you are still so beautiful,” Shi Tian poured him a glass of wine himself. “Try it. If you didn’t like it, we could change it.”
“Tell me, what’s the purpose?” Wang Yuanchen leaned back in his chair, “I’m only responsible for delivering the message.”
“I understand, but I’m surprised that Han Zhuo would ask you to negotiate with me,” Shi Tian leaned forward slightly, his lips leaned close to Wang Yuanchen’s ear, “He clearly knew that I always admire you.”
“He probably thought you were dead like me,” Wang Yuanchen’s tone was cold and mechanical, “Get back to your chair, otherwise I’ll do it myself and tell you to go back.”
“I’m not interested in fighting with you now, and you’re not my opponent,” Shi Tian shook his head and turned back to his original position, “Well, actually, this matter is really nothing. I just want to find a chance to talk to Han Zhuo face to face, but I didn’t expect that he could actually control you.”
“You have many ways to see him,” Wang Yuanchen raised his eyelids, “In the end, you chose to help a stranger opening a painting exhibition?”
“I can explain it to him in person,” Shi Tian suggested. “What do you think?”
Wang Yuanchen threw the spyware in front of him.
“Thank you.” Shi Tian smiled, then picked up the small microphone on the table, “Unfortunately, this gadget does not have a video function. I think we have not seen each other for a long time. Let me think about it, five years?”
.
The voice coming from the spyware was hoarse and eerie, and Bai Xi was a little nervous.
Han Zhuo patted him comfortingly and signaled to be silent for the time being.
“I need to explain the art exhibition first. There is really no conspiracy. I just wanted to express friendship simply because I was sure that you would take over it personally after learning about it.”
Shi Tian did not care about the silence on the other end and continued to be patient. He said, “This matter started with your new employer. We only suspected it before, but we were not really sure if he was the young mutant back then. It wasn’t until you appeared that you indirectly confirmed my guess.”
“What do you want to do?” Han Zhuo asked coldly.
“I want you to go home.” Hearing his voice, Shi Tian became obviously excited. He threw himself forward on the table, looking like he wanted to get through the small microphone immediately. His trembling and sharp voice sounded like the iron spoon scratching the glass, and a steady stream of words came out through the spyware –
“I want to remind you not to forget the vow you made back then. You will always stay in the underground warehouse and be the best hunter in the world.”
The little star in the living room went out instantly, and Bai Xi shuddered unconsciously.
Han Zhuo held him in his arms with one hand and whispered, “Don’t be afraid.”
“Who are you talking to?” Shi Tian asked alertly.
No one answered. A harsh sound first came from the spyware, and then it fell silent, as if it had been completely damaged.
“His oath was never to be loyal to you.” Wang Yuanchen sneered contemptuously, his eyes gradually becoming dangerous and violent, “but to completely destroy you.”
