Wrong Luggage, Perfect Curves

Chapter 11: The Drive

Min-jae tried to stay calm as he walked around the car, opening the door for Claire. "Don't be rude. Remember, you're not a gentleman if you don't do this," he reminded himself, as if reminding himself of basic etiquette. But as she approached, something caught his eye.

When Claire sat in the car, her dress—so short it barely covered her legs—shifted, revealing a glimpse of her white underwear. She didn't flinch. It was as if she had planned it. Min-jae stood there, frozen, his eyes instantly glued to her legs. "No... This can't be happening. Why is she doing this? Close your eyes, Min-jae. Just close them!"

His mind was spinning. "This is unreal. I've never seen anything like this. She's Claire... always so confident, always so sure of herself." He was completely stunned. He had never had the chance to be this close to a woman outside of his usual social circle, and certainly never one with such a figure, carrying herself with such confidence.

As he closed the door and got into the driver's seat, he couldn't stop thinking about it. "No, this isn't normal. Surely, I'm joking with myself. You deserve better, Min-jae. Get a grip. But why is this pulling me into a parallel dimension where I can't think of anything else except her?"

Claire, of course, was completely relaxed. Although she knew Min-jae was clearly distracted by her bold appearance, she didn't bother hiding anything. She sat comfortably, leaning back in the seat, turning slightly toward him.

"It's a pleasure to see you again," she said with a slight smile. "I didn't realize I missed you, but here we are... I guess luck is on my side again."

Min-jae just shrugged, still not believing what was happening. "Yeah, luck... Right. Always favors you." He tried to sound calm, but he knew he just sounded like a complete fool. "If I don't look, I'll give myself a medal," he muttered to himself, steering the wheel while absorbing every inch of her presence. Her hand rested lightly on the armrest, and her long, slender leg was casually positioned towards the door. "Why can't I stop looking? Is it like a magnet... No. I can't let this affect me, Min-jae. Focus!"

Claire noticed his intense focus on something that had nothing to do with driving, but she didn't bother correcting him. "You have no idea how hard it is to adapt around here," she said, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction, though she was still fully aware that his gaze kept drifting toward her legs.

"Ah, so now you're the 'cool' expert in both Western and Eastern cuisine, huh?" Min-jae replied, trying to joke. "I have to admit, I didn't expect you to get into all that."

Claire smiled and turned toward him. "I'm not your typical person for that, but yeah, I've combined French and Korean cuisine. Nothing too spectacular, but I'm working on bringing a touch of innovation."

Min-jae nodded, only saying, "Sounds good," before turning his gaze back toward her legs. "God, if I'm not concentrating on driving like I'm concentrating on you, this could end badly," he told himself.

Claire nonchalantly shrugged. "Maybe I should've let you know everything before I decided to ask for a ride. I wasn't sure you'd invite me to drive you."

Min-jae glanced at the rearview mirror, almost avoiding her gaze, even though he knew she was watching him closely. "No problem," he replied, feeling that this was going further than he had intended. "Still... well, it was a surprise."

As they neared her apartment, Min-jae began to realize that this was just another reminder of the kind of relationships he'd tried to forget. "No, Min-jae. You need to stop looking. This drive is probably the last time your mind is going to be this chaotic," he told himself. "Why do I feel like a beginner in my own life?"

For him, this was one big, humorous torture he couldn't get over. Claire, as always, was fully aware of her effect on him, but she clearly didn't mind. Calm, composed, full of respect for his awkwardness, but not for his inability to focus on the right things.

Finally, when they stopped in front of her apartment, Claire gracefully stepped out of the car. Min-jae couldn't believe it had ended without major disasters. "Thanks for the ride," Claire said, still wearing that enigmatic smile.

Min-jae just nodded. "No problem."
