Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost

Chapter 318: The Trio of Lab Rat Players Officially Formed_1

Wang Linchi observed the three Players who had climbed over the wall and onto the third floor. He sensed that these individuals were indeed not constrained by the game's conventional thinking.

This also confirmed one thing: the Game System might be unable to directly intervene or even monitor the situation within an instance. Otherwise, such a ridiculous scenario wouldn't have occurred.

After all, with nearly all the monsters gone, why bother sending in more Players?

Clearly, the Game System was unaware of what had transpired in this game instance; otherwise, it wouldn't have wasted such manpower and resources.

Teleporting Players in also incurred a cost, not to mention these Players hailed from all corners of the land.

The three Black Dart Guests' ascent to the third floor was so unnervingly smooth it made them question reality. Now, they were deeply suspicious, having encountered no monsters at all.

What bewildered them further were the rooms on the third floor. What were once individual rooms had been transformed into a vast, open-plan dormitory. All interior walls had been demolished, even some load-bearing ones. It was no wonder the exterior of the inn looked as it did; it was a miracle the building hadn't collapsed entirely.

"Without rooms, how are we supposed to defend against the Evil Demons…" the Black Gun Guest said, his voice tinged with helplessness. Previously, on the fourth floor, they had relied on kiting monsters between rooms to successfully neutralize six Evil Demons. Now, the Evil Demons could charge them directly.

"It's not a huge problem. The Game System wouldn't assign us an impossible task. There must be a sliver of hope," Black Sword Guest stated.

It had to be said, the three possessed a high degree of gaming acumen. They quickly began utilizing their surroundings and available materials to construct defensive fortifications, maximizing every possible advantage.

Watching this unfold, Wang Linchi mulled over a question.

Can humans become Erroneous Sin?

The concept of Erroneous Sin was peculiar. They could manifest as people, phenomena, absurdities, or even inanimate objects and buildings. The Shadow of Devourer, for instance, was humanoid.

So, if a human were to be corrupted by an 'error,' could they become an Erroneous Sin?

The NPCs in "God-given World" could awaken, so perhaps humans could too. After all, humanity predated the Game System. If not for the Abyss, the Game System might never have come into existence.

In Wang Linchi's eyes, Players weren't truly human but rather a fusion of humans and game characters.

As for Players being corrupted by 'error' through death and respawn, that was true. However, this 'error' wasn't a fundamental one. More precisely, it was an error derived from the Game System itself. If this corruption became too profound, instead of transforming into Erroneous Sin, Players would become part of the Game System.

The current Players were, at best, living puppets of the Game System. Though incapable of resistance, they still possessed their own consciousness. If they truly became part of the Game System, they would exist in a state worse than death—unable to truly live, yet incapable of dying.

Therefore, Wang Linchi pondered: what if humans could be turned into Erroneous Sin?

Could they then counteract the special status of Players?

He had been too busy before, and lacking the necessary raw materials, he hadn't been able to conduct experiments.

But now, things were different. He could use these three Players as test subjects.

If he succeeded, he could potentially dethrone the Game System, or at least significantly diminish its sphere of control.

Wang Linchi couldn't defeat his adversary directly. Thus, the best strategy was to muddy the waters rather than engage in a head-on confrontation.

Only amidst Chaos could he find an opportunity to develop.

It was just like in the Soul Aspect World. If the Dajing Court hadn't descended into Chaos, where would he have acquired his resources? How could he have possibly succeeded?

With social hierarchies solidified, paths for advancement monopolized, and resources controlled, how could he have risen without widespread Chaos? Even he, blessed with Strong Luck, had struggled merely to survive, let alone achieve Growth.

Previously, a natural disaster had plunged Great View into Chaos. But now, Wang Linchi intended to orchestrate a man-made catastrophe, aiming to force the Game System down the same ruinous path as the Dajing Court.

"Game characters are like an Order-aligned version of a Progeny's Egg. To cultivate sufficient errors, corresponding Chaos is essential. Only in the crucible formed by this Chaos and Order can 'they' successfully mature."

Wang Linchi didn't plan to transform these three Players into Progeny's Eggs; such a complicated process wasn't necessary. They already harbored inherent errors; they just needed a little nudge.

Besides, there was another reason: Wang Linchi wanted to ascertain if the Game System was truly incapable of monitoring activities within an instance.

If it could, the Game System would undoubtedly intervene and eliminate the Players the moment an error began to sprout, threatening to sever their connection to its control.

In that scenario, Wang Linchi could withdraw promptly, avoiding any negative repercussions.

However, if he confirmed that the Game System couldn't intervene or monitor, Wang Linchi could be far more audacious in his subsequent endeavors.

At that point, he could delve deeper into why the Game System was unable to oversee instances. He might even be able to weaponize this knowledge, turning it into a technique that would allow him to operate as an undetectable phantom, roaming the world and reaping various benefits.

Subsequent situations would then become much easier to handle.

"Players primarily need only a few things: Experience, currency, equipment, Skills, and so on."

"Experience and currency can't be fabricated at present. As for Skills, forget it; those require activating data within the game character, a feat beyond my capabilities."

"Most other things aren't suitable."

"Equipment, however, is quite suitable."

Wang Linchi conceived a highly profitable scheme.

He could disguise the errors he intended to inject for the experiment as equipment. There was no need to worry about the attributes; he could fabricate them.

This meant that while the numerical values would be displayed, they would be purely for show, having no actual effect.

It would be enough to fool these three Players. As long as they didn't engage any monsters, the impressive-looking attributes would suffice.

"Let's see... an assassin, a gunman, and a swordsman. All physical damage dealers," Wang Linchi quickly identified the basic classes of the three.

The Black Gun Guest's primary weapon was a polearm, not a firearm.

However, as the game world merged with reality, many real-world professions had gradually become the new mainstream. Careers like Gunners, Special Agents, and Special Forces members took the stage, and the Game System had lifted previous restrictions.

Wang Linchi could guess the reason. Previously, restrictions weren't lifted due to the constraints of The Power of Order. Now they were, because the Game System held the authority. The stronger its Player puppets became, the more power they could acquire for it, which was naturally better for the System.

"Then I'll create a universal accessory, one for each of them."

Wang Linchi quickly crafted them. This wasn't very difficult to create; the real challenge lay in injecting the errors into their bodies without triggering the game character's 'shell' alarms or defensive mechanisms.

Fortunately, he also possessed the 'shell' of a game character. With data to assist, the experiment was relatively simple; he just needed to bypass those defenses.

"Done. Who wouldn't be impressed by this?" Wang Linchi mused, looking at the three items. They appeared incredibly powerful, but in reality, they were just basic (white-grade) accessories with a mere +1 Attack Power.

Wang Linchi had used some camouflage and modifications to make them appear to possess so many attributes and effects.

Of course, he had modified existing in-game gear; he couldn't have created them from scratch.

And there was a catch. Once they left the instance, the items would reveal their true form. Inside the instance was effectively a local area network, preventing the Game System from participating in data exchange. But once they left and reconnected to the main network, the deception would definitely be discovered.

The items weren't foolproof even within the instance. Once the error was fully injected, the disguise would fail, exposing their true nature. This was estimated to happen within 24 hours at most.

But that didn't matter. Wang Linchi's main goal was to get them to equip the items. Even if the truth was revealed later, it wouldn't be an issue. Once the error injection was complete, the experiment would officially begin. They would be his lab rats; how could they escape his grasp?

Well, even if they did escape, it wouldn't matter. Once they left the instance, the first entity to settle accounts with them wouldn't be Wang Linchi, but the Game System.
