[Chapter: 109 Rescuing Jill And Jill's Feelings]
Jill's body fell toward the ground as she smiled bitterly. "I didn't expect to die in this place. I'm really unwilling."
"William, you still owe me ten cases of cigarettes," Jill yelled disgustedly. Yet, it was the guy she thought of at the very end.
"It seems so. I'm here to return the smokes," a voice passed into Jill's ear.
Jill's eyes widened. It was William's voice—but how could this be possible?
There was no time for Jill to think. She felt herself embraced in a firm hold. Her eyes darted upward to see a familiar, abominable smiling face looking down at her.
"William, it's you," Jill said, her voice trembling with disbelief.
"It's me," William replied with a smile.
"You—let me go! Let go of me!" Jill began to struggle, trying to escape William's arms.
William laughed. "No problem, if you don't mind the zombies below."
"Roar... wow..."
Jill glanced downward, her scalp tingling with numb fear as she saw countless zombies clawing up at her. She was barely over a meter away from the horde.
Jill froze in shock. "You didn't fall? How is this possible? What kind of magic is this?"
"Magic?" William chuckled. "I just have power that no one else can match."
Jill recalled the strange abilities William had displayed when fighting alongside Alice and the Nemesis before. Her lips curled into a sneer. "Pervert."
"This 'pervert' just saved you," William retorted.
"Hmph. Don't expect me to be grateful," Jill said, turning her face away.
"Grateful?" William raised an eyebrow mockingly. "Do I look like someone who saves people for gratitude? I'm famous for doing good deeds without leaving my name." He struck a dramatic pose, looking upward as though he were Superman.
Jill's expression darkened. "The survivors above! William, take me up to them!"
"OK." William's body began to rise toward the top floor.
When they reached the top, a horrifying sight greeted them. A large group of zombies was feasting on the corpses of the survivors. The few living survivors watched in horror, helpless to act.
Jill sighed. "It's too late..."
"In this world, they wouldn't have lasted long anyway. A few more days at most. Better to die now than later," William said heartlessly.
Jill shot him a sharp glare. "Am I even talking to a human?"
"I'm just stating a fact. You have to admit it," William replied calmly.
Jill snorted and fell silent. Though William's words were harsh, they were true. In a world overrun by zombies, ordinary people stood no chance. Still, having spent time with the survivors, leading them to find refuge, she couldn't help but feel attached to them.
Suddenly, a deafening roar erupted. A mutated zombie wielding a massive axe glared up at William with bloodlust in its eyes.
William's expression darkened. "It's you. That damned monster that nearly killed my Jill. I'll end you now to vent my hatred!"
Jill's eyes widened at his words. "'My Jill'?!" she shouted. "Are you looking for death, calling me that? How dare you take advantage of me!"
"Don't sweat the details," William said dismissively. "Just watch me take revenge for you."
The blackness in William's pupils expanded rapidly, forming the shape of three wind blades. In an instant, seven or eight streams of air swirled around the zombie, slashing its body with incredible speed.
The mutant zombie roared in agony as its body was torn apart. Its head, arms, and legs fell to the ground in pieces.
Jill was stunned. "This power... it's similar to Alice's."
"Yes, it's telekinesis," William said with a nod.
"So you..." Jill hesitated. "You've fused with the T-virus?"
"Yes. It's become a part of me," William said nonchalantly.
Jill shook her head. "You're terrifying. How could someone like you even exist?"
"Because I missed you," William said tenderly. "So I came to find you."
Jill's cheeks flushed slightly. "Shut up! Stop spouting nonsense!"
"Alright, alright, my bad," William said with a smirk. "Let's find a place to talk and catch up."
He flew forward, still holding Jill tightly in his arms.
"Where are you going?" Jill demanded.
"To look at the sea together. Ha ha ha!"
When they reached the coastline, Jill stared at the filthy, yellow water that emitted a foul stench. The sea was no longer the beautiful blue it once was—it was dead.
"Do you find this interesting?" Jill asked, annoyed. "You can't even find a place to stand!"
"Interesting? Absolutely," William said honestly. "Because I get to hold you and don't have to let you go. It's the perfect spot for me." He flashed a cheeky grin.
"You..." Jill was momentarily speechless. She had never met anyone so shameless.
"Don't say anything," William whispered, pulling her closer. "It's been so long... have you missed me?"
Jill's face turned crimson as her heart began to race. "Hateful! Let go! Who would miss a guy like you? Narcissistic and arrogant..." She cursed inwardly. Why is my heart beating so fast? Calm down. Calm down!
"Is that so?" William asked, locking eyes with her.
Jill quickly looked away and muttered, "Of course it is. Don't keep asking me! Where have you been these past six months?"
William gazed into the distance, his tone poetic. "I've been silently missing you from afar, dreaming of days long gone..."
