Chapter 12
As Frankenstein arrived with tea on a trolley and placed it on the side table for Raizel, the latter glanced at the tea and remarked, "It seems not just humans are insecure." Frankenstein, having his own tea while seated nearby, responded, "It seems so. And I'm curious about their results, Master."
Hearing Frankenstein's words, Raizel couldn't help but think, "Another madman." Setting down the file, Raizel took a sip of tea and suggested, "So, shall we pay them a visit?" But Frankenstein expressed his concern, saying, "It's better if we don't."
Raizel glanced at Frankenstein, curious, and asked, "Why?" Frankenstein, mindful of Raizel's sealed memories, explained, "Master, ever since we left Lukedonia, much has changed within the nobility. One significant change is regarding you as a traitor since the former Lord entered eternal sleep. Now, your whereabouts are unknown to them."
After contemplating this, Raizel questioned, "Still, how could they know I was in Europe if I were to visit Antigen?" Frankenstein's next words puzzled Raizel even more, "Because Antigen belongs to nobles."
Raizel knew that nobles usually remained secretive, so the idea of a Lycan-run company owned by nobles seemed contradictory. Questioning this, Raizel asked, "How come a Lycan-run company is owned by nobles? It doesn't make sense."
Frankenstein poured more tea for Raizel as he explained, "Master, about 14 years ago, these Lycans committed a stunt that led to the involvement of nobles to cover up the existence of supernatural beings." Raizel questioned, "A stunt?"
Frankenstein continued, "It was all-out genocide, Master, orchestrated by Lycans, hunting down both their own kind and vampires. It became public knowledge, and before it could escalate, the nobles intervened. Despite the cover-up, the Lycans somehow ended up making a deal with the nobles, leading to the formation of Antigen.".
Hearing about the complex mix-up between the Underworld and Noblesse fiction, Raizel remained silent for a moment before stating, "It's not just humans; even Lycans do not hesitate to kill their own people for their desires." Setting down his cup, Raizel declared, "Still, I wish to visit Antigen. If the nobles are getting involved with outside world, it's unlikely to be for a good reason. We need to find out what's going on.".
Seeing Master is really intent to get involved with Anitgen, Frankenstein offered, "Do you need me to make arrangements for the visit, Master?".
However, Raizel's dismissed it for the time being, seemingly nonchalant.
Then, to Frankenstein's surprise, Raizel posed an unusual question. "How's the weather tomorrow?" His inquiry seemed out of place given their discussion, leaving Frankenstein momentarily awkward.
Nevertheless, Frankenstein quickly composed himself and answered, "Heavy storm, Master.".
------------
While in the old ballet studio, James made arrangements to lure Bella alone to Phoenix by finding her old address and digging through the house before calling her. He successfully convinced her that he had captured her mom and lured her into a trap at her old ballet studio. Unbeknownst to him, someone else had the same idea.
As Bella arrived, following the sound of her mom's voice calling her name on the TV, James reveled in the fear he saw in her eyes. Walking to the front, he began to play with his mirror reflection, intending to further unsettle Bella. With a dark chuckle, he remarked, "That's my favorite part."
To his surprise, a response came, not from Bella, but from someone else. "But mine hasn't even begun yet," a voice echoed from behind him. James spun around, incredulous that someone had spoken without his awareness of their presence. Facing Raizel, who remained stoic yet carried a hint of sarcasm in his words, James seethed with animalistic fury. "Who are you?" he demanded.
aizel responded with a puzzled expression and a smile. "A stranger?" he quipped. In the next instant, James attempted to reach for Raizel's neck, but found himself suspended in mid-air. Raizel's voice turned cold as he warned, "Filth shouldn't lay a hand on me," before effortlessly tossing James aside with his supernatural power.
Terrified, James fled as fast as he could into the night, not expecting such situation. As he ran, he couldn't shake the scent of Raizel from his mind. Initially mistaking Raizel for a mere human, James soon realized the true predatory nature concealed beneath his calm demeanor. After a while, he realized he had been running through the same alley repeatedly. Suddenly, a voice invaded his mind, taunting him with the words, "Too bad, you're not good at running." In the next instant, he found himself back where he started, facing Raizel and Bella once again.
