Chapter 51: Loosening Up
The terrifying explosion and the soaring flames instantly captured everyone's attention.
Some people were woken from their sleep, opened their eyes to look outside the window, and saw what looked like two extra suns in the sky, making them fall back onto their beds in fright.
Allister also saw this scene. Ever since those Wing Tribe members left with two giant dragons, he had been keeping an eye on the direction of Ireya.
Upon seeing the flames, he blurted out, "Did they succeed?"
Only to find Conley and Claudio looking at him as if he were an idiot.
"That's not the kind of light produced by burning pine resin," Conley said. "Besides, if Lannita and the others had succeeded, it would be burning on the ground, not in the sky."
Conley's mind was now filled with panic. Although he had been contemplating how to rid himself of those Wing Tribe members to become a true emperor, now was not the time.
He still needed Lannita and the giant dragons to deal with Ireya and his two allies.
Conley couldn't imagine how he would win this battle without the help of those Wing Tribe members.
Claudio's expression was equally grave. He said, "We should immediately dispatch scouts to investigate nearby."
His suggestion was met with agreement. The appearance of those two masses of heavenly fire was clearly not without reason. Until they understood what had happened there, no one would be able to sleep tonight.
In fact, the city was already in an uproar, with people everywhere talking about the recent explosion and the phenomenon in the sky.
Even in the military camp, no one was sleeping. Some said it was the roar of a giant dragon, spewing flames to burn the invading enemy troops.
However, those who held this view were in the minority, especially among Conley's warriors, who had often seen dragons these past two years and occasionally fought alongside those two dragons. They had gained a certain understanding of such creatures flying in the sky.
They were very sure that what they just heard was not the sound of a dragon, and those two masses of fire didn't look like Dragon Flame either.
"Could it be that entity struck again?" someone murmured.
This had happened before. In the past, when those Wing Tribe members roamed the Bratis Continent, no one could resist them; they were so majestic and dominating.
However, when they ventured to the western lands, ignoring Merlin's warning and angering Saturday, they faced Divine Punishment. Only a few hundred scattered soldiers managed to return.
After that, those Wing Tribe members didn't dare cross Elk Valley again.
Could it be that Saturday was angry again? Who angered him this time?
Everyone looked at each other, a sense of impending doom rising in their hearts.
And just a moment ago, they saw a team of scouts leaving the city.
If this disturbance was caused by their side, there wouldn't be a rush to send people to investigate.
Consequently, anxiety and unease began to spread through the military camp.
On the other side, Ireya was also awakened by the explosion, but quickly received information that the Holy Artifact of the Double Rest Sect had just demonstrated its power.
Miss Rabbit couldn't help but feel a bit curious. When these things were just brought in, the girl wanted Li Yu to show her how to use them.
But Li Yu told her that he didn't know how to use them either, and they needed special Servants to operate them. Moreover, they couldn't demonstrate because once used, there would be one less.
It was also the first time Ireya encountered such a complicated artifact. The previous one, the glowing little panel, was often held by Li Yu, who poked it here and there, which already seemed very complex to Miss Rabbit.
After her efforts, she only learned how to use that little panel to take selfies and watch videos. This new thing was even more intricate than that glowing little panel, but it looked quite majestic.
There were also two long tubes. The barrel of the Italian Cannon was already quite thick, but compared to the new big guy, it was like a toothpick.
Miss Rabbit intuitively felt this thing should be quite powerful, but she wasn't sure how powerful it was.
Until Kaden came to her, telling her that the new Holy Artifact had just shot down two giant dragons and several Wing Tribe members who attempted to raid the camp, leaving Ireya stunned.
Because the place where the two dragons fell was less than ten kilometers away from them, Miss Rabbit simply decided not to send anyone to investigate and went personally, riding her Sun King.
Thomas brought four hundred cavalry to protect her, and Andreyevich also took two squads to accompany them. It was his first time using missiles to blast Flying Dragons and he wanted to see the outcome.
However, by the time they arrived, a large fire had already erupted on the ground. It was winter, a time when dry conditions could easily cause fires.
Moreover, Lannita and the Wing Tribe members carried pine resin, which further intensified the fire.
But what Ireya saw already shocked her greatly: many Wing Tribe corpses hung from the surrounding trees.
Many of them were missing limbs, with terror still etched on their faces, and Ireya even saw half a dragon's wing somehow stuck between two rocks.
As for the dragon's body, Ireya could only vaguely see a dark shadow half a kilometer away through the raging flames, but the fire was too fierce for her to approach.
The air was filled with a charred stench, making it hard to stand there.
Fearing that the fire would spread towards the camp, Ireya ordered someone to go back and bring axes to cut down the surrounding trees.
While they were busy, Andreyevich noticed Little Bee and Smile Boy conspiratorially whispering to each other.
He walked over and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Little Bee raised his head, "Smile Boy saw figures over there."
"With such a big commotion just now, those guys in the city must be sending people to investigate, but with such a large fire, they're unlikely to risk coming over," Andreyevich said.
Little Bee hesitated to speak.
"Do you have something else on your mind?"
"Smile Boy and I want to go say hello to them," Little Bee rubbed his hands and chuckled.
Andreyevich glanced at the OSV-96 sniper rifle wrapped in sheepskin on his horse and reminded him.
"You do know bullets are very precious now, right?"
"I'll only fire twelve shots, no more," Little Bee thumped his chest in assurance. "Those guys must be scared stiff right now. We'll add some weight to their fear, lower their morale, and it'll benefit the war ahead."
Andreyevich thought about it and felt he made a good point, so he nodded in agreement, "Twelve shots, no more. I'll check your bullets when you return."
Little Bee was overjoyed, "Don't worry, I always follow orders."
Having said that, he patted his spotter Smile Boy on the shoulder, "Let's go, let's stretch our muscles too."
