Chapter 50: Fireworks Show
Andreyevich ultimately stayed behind.
In fact, no one in the entire room left; they were selected as the most loyal warriors.
Besides, Andreyevich understood the Admiral; he knew the Admiral never showed mercy to traitors.
Though the latter said those who withdrew could take the flight home tomorrow morning, Andreyevich knew that once they stepped out of this room, they would be as good as dead.
Since they would die anyway, it was better to die with loyalty.
Seeing no one withdrawn, the Admiral was quite satisfied and revealed more information about this mission to them.
This is not a cross-national mission but a cross-dimensional mission!
Andreyevich found it unbelievable after receiving the new data.
Inter-dimensional travel, reincarnation, faith-based technology, apocalypse... there were too many elements involved, each resembling something from a gaming novel, yet they could all come together.
However, Andreyevich and his team ultimately absorbed it all, not believing the military's top brass would stage such a spectacle merely for a prank.
Indeed, this was true. When Andreyevich opened his eyes again, stepping onto this unfamiliar land, he was struck with unparalleled awe.
After the shock, Andreyevich and the others immediately got to work.
The weapons promised by the Admiral were delivered to this Continent in a manner they couldn't comprehend.
Andreyevich and his companions inspected them to ensure they were undamaged.
Then, taking these weapons, they set out on a journey with the queen named Ireya.
Though the winter in Elk Valley was not as cold as that in Moscow, Andreyevich wanted a sip of vodka.
The local fruit wine was difficult to drink, with hardly any alcohol taste; it was said that over in Green Field, a transmigrator had set up a brewery.
The produced beer and wine had a much better taste but still couldn't compare to vodka.
Andreyevich licked his lips, guessing he might never drink the familiar spirits from home again.
Andreyevich checked the weapons they brought one more time, then seeing it was getting late, went to his tent to sleep.
He didn't know how long he slept when he groggily felt someone shaking his shoulder, calling, "Captain, Captain, the radar has detected something."
Andreyevich woke up instantly and asked, "What have you found?"
"Unclear for now, it seems like a flock of birds approaching us."
Andreyevich donned a cloak and walked out of the tent.
The surrounding woods reminded him of the Siberian Plain, but this was no time for homesickness.
Knowing the enemy included flying Birdmen and giant dragons, Andreyevich used drones for reconnaissance during the day and posted sentries for night watch.
Nearing Elk Valley, he further instructed them to activate the vehicle's coordinate warning radar, a costly endeavor for the fuel-scarce expedition team that had met opposition.
Yet Andreyevich stuck to his judgment, and the second night they were rewarded.
When Andreyevich reached the vehicle radar, the radar team already had new findings.
"Looks like we have guests tonight, Captain," a radar operator pointed at two dense clusters of small red dots and two large red dots on the radar.
"Is that a dragon?" Andreyevich squinted, looking at one of the big red dots.
"If we were still on Earth, I'd be more inclined to think it was a Boeing airliner, but considering our current situation, a dragon's more likely."
"How far are they from us now?"
"About twenty-five kilometers, Captain."
"Well done, keep tracking their movements," Andreyevich patted the radar operator on the shoulder and told another,
"Switch on the fire control radar and let our guests tonight experience the power of space weapons."
Andreyevich's eyes shimmered coldly in the darkness.
......
Lannita didn't quite know why but felt a vague unease tonight.
Even though the White Dragon that terrified them was not here, Lannita still had a prickling sense of danger.
They were children of the sky, but Bratis's skies felt unfamiliar.
No, it wasn't Bratis that was unfamiliar but Merlin and the Double Rest Sect he led.
Ever since Lannita had a round trip on the brink of death, she knew the sky above held more than Mother Goddess Gaia.
That mysterious existence named Saturday also ruled this segment of the cosmos.
Thinking of this, Lannita couldn't help shivering, like there was an invisible eye watching them.
Lannita almost wanted to turn back, but leaving the Double Rest Sect and those strange metal lumps unchecked would mean the upcoming battle would be perilous for Conley and the others.
History taught Lannita never to underestimate Merlin; tonight's sneak attack had to succeed, no matter what countermeasures Merlin had prepared. If they could preemptively undo his arrangements, his plans couldn't unfold.
Drawing closer to Ireya's camp, Lannita ordered everyone silent to avoid alerting the guards prematurely.
Even the two dragons became extremely well-behaved, quietly following the Wing Tribesmen.
Each Wing Tribesman hugged a barrel of pine resin, perfectly compatible with the Dragon Flame the giant dragons spewed; within moments, it could engulf a military camp in flames.
Lannita's heart raced; she could already see the camp ahead. It looked peaceful, meaning they hadn't been detected, making success likely.
But suddenly a white light flashed before her eyes, something shot into the sky at a terrifying speed, and its tail spit out a long stream of flames.
Driven by the flames, it flew toward the Wing Tribesmen like an arrow shot by a God.
The events unfolded in an instant, preventing any thought; it reached them with a frightening speed, hitting the Azure Dragon beside them.
The Azure Dragon was directly blown apart by the missile, flames and flesh mixed with shattered bones and metal fragments exploded in the sky.
The horrifying heat wave instantly swallowed dozens of nearby Wing Tribesmen, while the flying debris further expanded the damage range.
Lannita felt something pierce her chest, but before she could look down, everything went black, and she plummeted from the sky.
The Red Dragon on the other side wanted to flee but Andreyevich had launched two missiles this time.
Another one was locked onto the Red Dragon, an attack even supersonic jets couldn't evade, let alone the Red Dragon.
Almost simultaneously its body exploded too, the sky putting on a grand fireworks show.
The tremendous noise woke not only the people in the distant military camp but also the guards at Deer Horn Gate, who looked at the strange sight in the sky with astonishment.
