Chapter 27: Only Divine Arts Can Counter Divine Arts
"Who are you?" The Black Hand looked at the somewhat unfamiliar face before him and asked, "From which family?"
"My name is Hui, I have no family," the young man said.
"A commoner, then how did you get in here?"
A hint of murderous intent appeared in Adela's eyes. The more he looked at Hui, the more he seemed like a spy sent by those Western people. Because of his fear of Saturday and the Double Rest Sect, he was now wary of all these chaotic people and objects.
"I am a commoner, but also a messenger," Hui said calmly, seemingly not noticing the hostility from Adela.
"Whose messenger?"
"Your Emperor Allister, and also a messenger of the Priest of Cornelia."
"How can you prove it?"
Hui pulled out a letter from his chest and was about to step towards Adela, but was stopped by a guard on the side.
One of the guards took the letter from his hand and presented it to the Black Hand on the main seat.
After reading the letter, the doubt on the latter's face disappeared, replaced by a look of surprise. When he looked at Hui again, his tone had softened considerably, and his attitude had even become respectful.
"I knew His Majesty and the Priest of Cornelia would never abandon us. You mentioned you have a way to solve our current crisis."
Hui nodded, "Only Divine Arts can counter Divine Arts."
Adela felt his breathing become rapid, and he asked excitedly, "The Life Goddess... is she also going to intervene?"
Hui remained expressionless, "Yes, this is not the Western region. Saturday is not so powerful or invincible on this land, which is also our opportunity."
The nobles in the hall, upon hearing his words, also rekindled hope and began murmuring among themselves. They had heard of the Life Church's renowned name.
This foreign church arrived on the Bratis Continent even earlier than the Double Rest Sect and developed better.
The Empire's upper echelons were once entirely followers of Valria, and the late Emperor Edward II was extremely devout.
It is said that the marriage of Allister with the Northern Territory and leaving the Royal Capital was arranged by the Priest of Cornelia, and later, Allister's ability to lead troops to occupy the New Moon Land was also aided by the Life Church.
So if there is a god who can rival Saturday, it is undoubtedly the Life Goddess Valria.
"Has the Priest of Cornelia also come to the Golden Valley?" someone asked expectantly.
Hui did not answer.
Adela asked again, "How does the Life Goddess plan to deal with the evil Saturday?"
Hui still did not give a definitive answer, only telling Adela.
"Gather your vassals' soldiers and recruit as many allies as possible to form a large army within ten days and leave the rest to us. Also..."
Hui paused and added, "Remember to pray to the Life Goddess; she will bring you victory."
......
Ireya felt that this trip to the Golden Valley seemed a bit too smooth; the enemies encountered were as fragile as paper, hardly a fight.
Basically, after a couple of rounds of cannon fire and a round of musket volleys, the morale of the opposing side crumbled, leading to either going through the motions or breaking down in tears.
This battle could be said to be without any sense of accomplishment.
Whenever they encountered defenders planning to hold the city, if the walls weren't sturdy enough, the Italian cannon could bring them down in no time. And when faced with a fortress, Miss Rabbit had a way.
Throwing incendiary bombs and smoke bombs, and taking advantage of the fact that the defenders on the walls couldn't see anything, ladders were placed, and they could climb the walls.
With well-equipped weapons, it wasn't long before the rabbit flag of the Arias family would fly over the enemy's castle.
Another unit, seeing that Ireya was almost single-handedly storming through the Golden Valley, started to get anxious. Ramsey gathered ten thousand men and set off quickly, and during the journey, various lords came with troops to join, and they were about to leave the Western region.
The main worry was that if they arrived late, there wouldn't even be a cup of soup left to drink.
Ireya led the army for several days, and after a couple of battles, the lords they encountered either knew they couldn't win and surrendered early, or abandoned the city and fled.
Miss Rabbit noticed that those who fled had taken quite a few men with them, reminding her of when she dealt with Solomon and his Wing Tribe allies, she had also chosen to pull back her forces for a final decisive battle.
There was probably a larger force coming, but the Lady was not in a hurry. She even maintained a week of double rest while marching because Li Yu had said that using compensatory rest sparingly was better.
Ireya thought that giving the enemy some time to gather everyone and settle it all at once was also good, more convenient than slowly grinding through every town and fortress.
On Friday, the Western forces arrived beside a lake. Ireya checked her Disney Watch and estimated that in about an hour, the sun would set.
So she decided not to continue forward any further and had the army camp by the lake. Tonight, Lilania and her troops would also catch up, just in time to spend the weekend together.
However, before seeing Lilania, Miss Rabbit unexpectedly encountered an unexpected guest.
The man introduced himself as Wolf of the Fanrasen family and requested an audience with Ireya.
Miss Rabbit was unfamiliar with the name, and it was only after Ivan's reminder that she realized the visitor was a new noble and seemed quite famous among them.
This left Ireya with a poor first impression of Wolf, but the young girl also admitted that this guy was indeed bold.
To dare to come see her alone, regardless of whether she would kill Wolf, there were many bandits and robbers on the road in the current Golden Valley environment.
It was evident that Wolf was confident in his martial arts.
The head of the Fanrasen family immediately said to Ireya upon meeting, "I wish to serve you."
"There have been too many people wanting to serve me recently; you might have to wait in line," the young girl said.
"I am different from those useless ones," Wolf said, "I can be your blade, piercing the enemy's heart for you."
"But I already use muskets," Miss Rabbit shrugged.
Wolf didn't know what muskets were, but he could hear the disdain in the young girl's tone, so he asked.
"Did I offend you before?"
"Ivan told me about you. I heard you killed several nobles consecutively in a martial competition just to catch Solomon's attention."
"I was just trying to survive."
"But Solomon said you could survive by taking out just one opponent, right?"
"Alright, I did it for territory and money," Wolf admitted. "The Vespasian family wasn't willing to give me these, but those Wing Tribe people were, so I joined them.
"But I can promise you, I will never betray you again."
"I don't believe your promises, nor can I satisfy your appetites," Ireya said. "Leave, we shall meet on the battlefield instead."
