Chapter 45: Chapter 45: The Beast’s Prayer and the Super Werewolf Warrior’s First Battle
The Bulgar chieftain, Toldo, bellowed, "Who's there? Come out now!"
"I'll tear you apart!"
A Horse-Bull—slashed cleanly in half by razor-sharp claws—was hurled before Toldo.
This was an unmistakable challenge.
Toldo's eyes narrowed as he studied the corpse. Growing up on the steppes, he could instantly identify the marks of wolf claws. However, these claw marks were far larger than any wolf he'd ever encountered.
"Interesting," Toldo growled.
Wolves were the eternal nemesis of herders. On the grasslands, a wolf pack could slaughter every sheep in a pen—not just to eat but to destroy. This would ruin the livelihoods of entire families, as pastoral societies had no surplus to compensate for such losses.
With the Beast God's blessing, the Bulgars had gained their Beast Knights, tipping the balance of power against wolves. Yet now, deep in Storm Kingdom territory, the tables had turned—a stronger wolf pack had arrived.
From the nearby forests, under the silver light of the full moon, a hulking shadow emerged. The beast stood close to four meters tall and moved with deliberate menace.
The Horse-Bulls whinnied nervously, their muscular bodies trembling.
The figure was unmistakable—a Super Werewolf Warrior, clad in intricately crafted full plate armor, steel gauntlets, and a polished helm. A bow and quiver were slung across its back, its feral instincts perfectly balanced with the precision of a trained soldier.
Toldo and his Beast Knight squire stared in stunned silence.
The squire murmured, "By the Beast God... Could this be a divine beast sent by our god?"
While the Bulgars gawked, twenty Werewolf Messengers launched their ambush. Enhanced by Wolf Bite Potion and their natural ferocity, they tore into the unsuspecting Bulgars with terrifying efficiency.
The Bulgar warriors, while physically stronger than ordinary farmers, were no match for the werewolves. Their average strength of 1 paled in comparison to the Werewolf Messengers' chemically and magically enhanced abilities.
One Messenger pinned a Bulgar to the ground, holding him with its claws. The werewolf's jaw unnaturally stretched, resembling a python preparing to devour its prey. The Bulgar's scream was cut short as his head and shoulders disappeared into the wolf's maw.
The man's final words were, "Beast God, have you abandoned me? Is this creature your emissary?"
Toldo, enraged, kicked a Werewolf Messenger away and freed one of his pinned soldiers. But before he could catch his breath, arrows whistled past him, forcing him to retreat.
He turned to see the Super Werewolf Veteran, Blom, lowering his custom-crafted longbow.
"Who are you to dare harm my warriors?" Toldo growled.
Blom responded by discarding his crossbow and drawing a 650-pound longbow, one of the most powerful weapons crafted by Peter Barony's smiths. While ordinary humans could manage bows of 30-130 pounds and knights typically handled bows of up to 500 pounds, Blom's superhuman strength and agility made him capable of wielding such a weapon with ease.
The arrow flew with the force of a ballista, forcing Toldo to dive out of its path. But Blom didn't relent, firing arrow after arrow, keeping the Beast Knight pinned.
Toldo attempted to reach his Horse-Bull to turn the tide, but Blom anticipated the move. With a commanding glare, he activated Control Wild Wolves, focusing his magical energy on the beast.
The Horse-Bull, terrified, bolted over 200 meters away, leaving Toldo stranded.
"Useless animal!" Toldo cursed, dodging another arrow.
Though Toldo wore layers of stolen chainmail and leather armor, the sheer force of Blom's arrows made direct hits a death sentence. With no alternative, Toldo was forced to rely on evasion to survive.
Through the Wolf Pack Connection, Su Nan observed the battle, recording insights into File #15.
The Werewolf Warrior Program was proving highly effective. Even without activating Rage Mode or additional potions, Blom was suppressing a Beast Knight whose abilities exceeded the average Storm Knight.
Su Nan noted, "Blom's strategic use of ranged weapons demonstrates the versatility of werewolves. Their strength and speed amplify their effectiveness with bows, though crossbows seem less advantageous for their capabilities."
Su Nan's analytical mind also reviewed Toldo's performance:
Beast Knight: Toldo
Strength: 4.0
Speed: 3.5
Constitution: 3.7
Analysis: Toldo's base stats exceed the typical Storm Knight, likely due to the harsh survival conditions of the steppes. The Bulgar Beast Knights, as a whole, may surpass their Storm counterparts.
While Blom maintained the upper hand with his bow, Su Nan hypothesized that a close-quarters fight might tilt the odds in Toldo's favor due to his raw physical prowess.
Suddenly, the air around Toldo shifted. His posture straightened, and an aura of primal energy emanated from his body.
Toldo whispered, "Beast God, I offer you my humanity. Strip me of my chains and grant me your fury."
As he stood, subtle changes overtook his body—his cheekbones sharpened, his ears lengthened, and his movements became unnervingly fluid.
Su Nan issued a command through the connection. "Blom, commence the second test. Use potion-enhanced arrows."
Blom smirked, his cocky demeanor unchanged. "Ah, what a terrifying sight. You look more like a monster than I do. But orders are orders. I'll have to kill you quickly to avoid disappointing my master."
With a theatrical sigh, Blom gestured to Wolf Two, who brought him a quiver of potion-coated arrows. As he prepared his next shot, Blom
muttered, "Don't make this harder than it has to be. I promise it'll be painless."
