Why must the devil be Defeated?

Chapter 785: 717 The Limit of Life

The upheaval Shane caused in the Imperial City was certainly no small matter.

Not to mention, the Imperial City was nearly half destroyed, and the Imperial Palace was completely ruined, causing massive shifts in the governance of the Empire. Not only had the Emperor gone mad and been dethroned, but the Imperial Concubine was exposed as a criminal who had attempted to use the Empire for nefarious purposes. Such a significant event would undoubtedly cause a sensation in the Human Realm and would attract attention even in the Divine World and Demon Realm.

Moreover, Shane had killed Moro, who had transcended using an artifact left by the Supreme God, thereby exposing his secret identity as the Hero. This event alone could cause a seismic stir of Level 18.

A thousand years had passed since the last Hero emerged, and it had been only half a year since Shane arrived in Omni Potanssen, yet he was already capable of slaying a Transcendent Level Existence. Once this news spread, peace in all Three Realms would likely be a thing of the past.

Many witnessed that scene, including those involved in the entire Empire coup, and many observers in the Imperial City, whether intentional or not, were keeping tabs on this incident. It would be truly strange if Shane's deeds had not been revealed.

Previously, because the matter of the Hero was so widely discussed, Shane's killing of Moro, who had transcended through the Symbiosis with an artifact of the Supreme God hidden underground the Empire, went slightly overlooked.

However, while the general public might have overlooked this issue, the major powers certainly did not.

Knowing that Shane was the Hero, they would undoubtedly attempt to investigate the ins and outs of the whole affair and dig up all the intel on Shane after he had come into this world.

Under such circumstances, discovering the events that had transpired in the Imperial City, and knowing that Shane had slain a Transcendent Level Existence, was by no means difficult.

Especially for the Old Demon Clan Faction, "Primordial Demon", it would be impossible for them to lack such intelligence.

It was known that Moro had collaborated with the "Primordial Demon". Even if her plans were unknown to the members of "Primordial Demon", there would undoubtedly be those among them keeping tabs on her, even closely watching the events as they unfolded on that day.

Moreover, Moro herself was full of suspicious aspects; despite being slain by Shane, her Branch of Resurgence went missing, and she possessed the Unique Skill "Symbiosis", which significantly piqued interest in her abnormalities.

Shane had reason to believe that there might be someone behind Moro pulling the strings.

This mastermind was the entity engaged in "Symbiosis" with Moro.

And Shane had his suspicions about who this entity might be.

After all, a person had bizarrely been hunted down, saved by Lasha and Lilith, then inexplicably fallen into a coma for several days before vanishing under mysterious circumstances again, all the while having deep connections with Moro. Shane had no doubt that there was something fishy about them.

If this missing mastermind was still in contact with the "Primordial Demon", then it was impossible for the "Primordial Demon" not to know of Shane's slaying of Moro and his challenging of an entity who had entered the threshold of Transcendence.

Knowing this, how could they possibly consider Shane as just a Legendary Level Hero without any significant influence on the situation?

"There must be some insider happenings that I am not aware of."

Shane was certain of this thought.

As Shane pondered these things, nestled in his arms, Chafne looked earnestly at him and suddenly spoke.

"The events in the Imperial City, we actually managed to block off a part of the news under the orders of our eldest sister."

This unexpected comment made Shane startle.

"You know what I'm thinking?"

Shane was surprised.

"A little," Chafne said half-smiling, "My 'Ripple Heart Demon' is a Unique Skill that allows me to connect my mind and others' as a medium. The depth of this connection depends on the relationship between us, so isn't it normal for me to sense some of your thoughts, given our relationship?"

Well, Shane realized, he had gotten to know another mind-reading woman.

At that silent moment from Shane, Chafne looked at him amusedly and then suddenly assumed a serious expression.

"It's Moro, right?" Chafne said, "The moment she transcended, her Magic Power actually penetrated through to the Demon Realm and Divine World, and was perceived by us who are at the same level."

Whether it was the Three Great Goddesses or the Six Great Demons, actually, since that moment, they had relentlessly gathered information related to the political upheaval in the Imperial City, gradually coming to understand the truth.

"It must be said, that so-called 'Death Spirit' indeed has some tricks, managing to forcefully create a possibility to ascend to Transcendence Level. We were all startled," Chafne told Shane.

"But you don't need to worry, stepping into Transcendence in this way will definitely end up the same as you, limited and conditional transcendence only."

This unexpected news caught Shane's attention.

"Is it really just limited, conditional Transcendence?"

Shane couldn't help but ask this question.

"Of course," Chafne nodded without hesitation, and with a wry smile, she said, "Do you think that the 'Reason' laid down by Supreme God Ominis is fake? Do you think the so-called Life Limit can be breached just like that?"

That is the very limit imposed by the truth of the world itself, allowing life to reach up to Level 100 at most, without the possibility to exceed or cross it.
