Chapter 139 Six Paths Divine Sect
Zhang Ze went up to the second floor just to get things done quickly.
After all, he was looking for a man in a brothel, and men who came to such places were obviously engaging in those kinds of activities.
Zhang Ze thought that opening each door and interrupting people during their intimate moments, then checking the back of their necks was a bit abstract.
And too embarrassing.
So he decided to go straight to the second floor to find the lady boss, to get the facts straight and avoid unnecessary trouble.
Heaven and Earth, second floor.
The lady boss, Little Yingchun, put down her smoking pipe and glanced at the long sword with the Sword Sect emblem on the table. She fussed with her tail and looked at the young man opposite her.
"Go ahead, young master from a great sect, what business do you have with me?"
Zhang Ze stared at Little Yingchun's tail and ears but first asked a tangential question, "Do all you fox demons like to open such establishments?"
"Not really, it's just a personal hobby. Is that what you came to ask me?" Little Yingchun didn't seem annoyed. She rested her chin on her hand and leaned forward, pressing her chest against the table as she looked at Zhang Ze.
"I have proper business, but I also wanted to ask if you have a relative who opened an inn in Cold City?" Zhang Ze thought Little Yingchun looked terribly familiar.
She resembled a certain flirtatious fox fond of opening inns, but her tone was somewhat lacking.
"Let me think, it seems there was a relative, ah... Right, it's my sister Bai. She is my brother's fourth uncle's second aunt. Why?" Little Yingchun tilted her head and played with her hair.
"Nothing, I was just asking." Satisfied with the answer, Zhang Ze finally got to the point, "I'm looking for a man with a birthmark on the back of his neck."
Little Yingchun glanced slyly at Zhang Ze and then laughed, "Why would you look for a man here? I only have women."
"Anything else? If not, young master, please take your leave. Or would you like me to keep you company?"
Little Yingchun's gaze was seductive, but Zhang Ze was immune to such looks. He simply couldn't understand why Little Yingchun would lie.
Although she acted well, her experience was still shallow. When she heard the word "birthmark," a flicker of panic crossed her eyes.
Logically, since he had revealed his Sword Sect identity, such matters should be simple to inquire about.
Or perhaps this lady was just ethical and never exposed her clients' information.
Or could there be something more behind this?
But Zhang Ze was not in a hurry; he had plenty of ways to handle this. Worst case, he would stake out the place; he didn't believe that man would stay here forever.
"A friend of mine wants to find that person for a chat; it's fine if you don't know, madam."
"One last question."
"Can the legends of the Six Paths Immortal in Lantian County be told by the lady boss?" Zhang Ze shifted topics.
"I do know that one. Let me think... Ah, I remember." Little Yingchun took a puff from her smoking pipe and began the tale.
"The legend goes like this: Once there was a mountain, with a well, and in the well, there was a temple. Every night, in that temple..."
Little Yingchun had quite a knack for telling ghost stories; she told these few lines with a chilling wind effect, leaning forward a little more towards Zhang Ze, but her tone slowed down.
"What about later?" Zhang Ze asked.
"There would be six Daoists coming out of the well, what else could it be?"
After the fake punch, Little Yingchun leaned back, stretched her body gracefully, and then yawned.
"I'm a bit sleepy. Does the young master have more questions, or do you really want to sleep with me?"
Zhang Ze sighed, grabbed his long sword from the table, and prepared to leave and think of another way.
However, someone seemed to misunderstand and thought Zhang Ze was about to turn hostile.
A middle-aged man suddenly rushed out from the back room, his clothes untidy, his face covered in stubble, and he looked quite spent.
"I, Liu, will go with you, but please don't trouble my Ying'Er!"
"Liu Lang, why did you come out?"
"Ying'Er, I cannot let you be in danger. The mistakes of the previous generation should be my responsibility, I..."
"No, Liu Lang, I..."
Watching the one man and one fox perform a tragic opera in front of him, Zhang Ze suddenly felt a bit extraneous.
He felt a pathetic barrier had formed between him and the other two.
If Zhang Ze didn't do something, this scene might drag till half-past eight.
So he took out the Copper Gong from the Hundred Treasures Bag.
With several loud blows, he finally stopped this farce.
Zhang Ze walked forward and turned the dazed man around. Seeing the birthmark on the back of his neck, he nodded.
"Who are you?" Zhang Ze asked.
"I, I'm Liu Yong, you? You don't recognize me?" Liu Yong, who had snapped back to reality, was a bit surprised.
"Why should I know you? I'm here to ask something." Zhang Ze replied naturally.
"You're not here to arrest me?" Liu Yong was incredulous.
"Why would I arrest you? Did you do something wrong?" Zhang Ze scrutinized Liu Yong.
Liu Yong shook his head like a rattledrum, but when asked further, he stammered and rambled.
His words were fragmented and nonsensical, and from the look of Little Yingchun, it seemed there might be a sequel to their tragic performance.
Seeing Little Yingchun hesitating to speak and Liu Yong appearing both scared and curious, Zhang Ze felt staying there wasting time was unnecessary.
The most reliable method was to take him back to the inn and have the Celestial Calculation Disc divine a result.
However, when Zhang Ze brought Liu Yong and the insistent Little Yingchun back to the inn, he got no answer from the Celestial Calculation Disc.
[Just ask yourself]
[I only found out he has deep ties to Taoist Tang Ji, but what exactly, I have no idea]
[Call out the Profound Identification, let it chat with me for a while]
Liu Yong and Little Yingchun, standing on the side, couldn't make sense of the scene before them.
The room was chaotic, a little Daoist and a bizarre-looking Spirit Beast were lying on the floor reading each other's fortunes.
A plate and a mirror were competing in calligraphy, writing nonsense about the weather there.
Liu Yong glanced at the seemingly accustomed Zhang Ze, "You're really not here to arrest me?"
Zhang Ze shrugged, "Do we look like it?"
Little Yingchun and Liu Yong both shook their heads.
Zhang Ze had Liu Yong sit by the table and briefly explained the situation.
"We're just passing by, I'm... never mind how I got here. This little Taoist is looking for his master, so please help. What's your connection to that Taoist Tang, and what's the deal with the Six Paths Immortal?"
Liu Yong let out a long sigh, "I truly don't know that Taoist Tang, but as for the Six Paths Immortal, I do know a bit."
"I'll tell you, no problem, but please give me a chance."
"I'm really a good person."
"Go ahead, our Sword Sect is always fair, never impulsive, and never misjudges a bad act, with judgments always fair and just," Zhang Ze declared confidently.
"Alright, I'll tell you." Liu Yong seemed to have made up his mind to reveal his secret.
"The Six Paths Divine Sect is actually an Evil Cult, and I am the current Sect Leader of the Six Paths Divine Sect."
Zhang Ze, "...."
Zhang Ze placed his hand on his sword but hesitated a bit before not drawing it; he wanted to hear what this Great Sect Leader Liu had to say.
