Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Missing Home

"After boarding the ship, you disappeared. What were you doing in your room?"

Sule asked, watching He Kui wolf down his food in the cafeteria.

"I was relieving some stress."

He couldn't very well say he was catching up on sleep. Perhaps the tension had finally caught up with him, leading him to relax a bit.

Not only was he tired, but he was also hungry.

"Relieving stress... While I don't have the right to say this, isn't that a bit inappropriate?"

Sule's cheeks flushed slightly.

"Uh... Anyway, how long until we arrive?"

He felt misunderstood, but the expression on Sule's fair face seemed to say, "If you keep talking, I'll consider you a rogue," prompting He Kui to switch the topic.

"According to the route, we should arrive in about two hours."

Sule glanced at the tablet connected to the ship's system.

"However, we'll first deploy reconnaissance GINNs to assess the situation with the Alliance, so we need to be on the bridge half an hour early to prepare."

"Understood."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing."

He was thinking about home. He didn't know how long this battle would last, and without Shi He, he felt out of sorts, like someone who was used to clocking in every day suddenly stopping.

It felt very uncomfortable.

"You don't need to worry too much."

Sule reassured him, noting that while He Kui had talent, he was rather timid. This opportunity might be good for him; it would not only show his loyalty to the higher-ups of ZAFT but also help him build some courage. After all, once he reached A-level, there would be even more monitoring tasks ahead.

"Alright."

He wasn't sure how much Sule misunderstood him, but he simply replied in agreement.

An hour and a half passed quickly, and ten minutes before the operation was set to begin, they gathered on the bridge.

The bridge of the warship was equipped with various instruments typical of warships, but the tactical console had been replaced with several bulky monitoring devices.

"System self-check complete, data flow stable. We are ready to launch."

After performing some operations at the controls, He Kui reported to Sule, who was seated at the command chair.

"Then let the reconnaissance operation begin."

"Understood."

With the response from the three green-clad pilots seated in their reconnaissance GINNs, the three GINNs launched from the warship, leaving behind three faint trails of light in the dark expanse of space.

"The radar detection range is continuously expanding. The gain on the flow hood has reached 120%, consistent with laboratory and testing results."

Before He Kui's eyes were numerous data feeds; in addition to cosmic radiation data, there were various heat distribution data from the exterior of the space station being automatically analyzed by the computer.

"It looks clear; we haven't detected any unnatural heat signatures."

This meant there were no ambushes.

"Mm."

Sule nodded and glanced towards the neutron jammer observation team.

"Now it's your turn."

"Understood. Notify all ships that subsequent communications may be disrupted. Proceed according to the rehearsed procedures."

The orders were relayed throughout the entire fleet of ZAFT in the front lines.

"Neutron jammers, launch."

At the command, dozens of Naska-class warships fired their 450mm multipurpose launchers, unleashing a barrage of neutron jammers. The visual count indicated that nearly a hundred neutron jammers were being deployed.

This was a saturation launch; after all, the space station would undoubtedly have defensive capabilities. Only a few of the neutron jammers could penetrate the enemy's radar control network. However, if the jammers proved effective, the enemy's defensive capabilities would be significantly weakened. Most of the Earth Alliance's defensive strength relied heavily on their anti-air radar systems. As long as the radar effectiveness diminished or even failed, the enemy's swarm tactics and missile strategies would also lose their effectiveness.
