Who hid My Corpse!

Chapter 733: Visas's Origins

Edwin stepped into a world of pure white, facing a door tightly shut.

This was his shallow dream, with the deep realm lying beyond the door.

The greatest difference between shallow dreams and deep dreams is that the former still belongs to the Lord of Eternal Nightmare, watched over by him, whereas the latter is crafted by understanding the Lord's power, forming a completely independent dream, untouchable even by the Lord.

Yet, shallow dreams are connected to the brain, allowing information within them to be known in the real world. The deep dream, however, is different, like the tightly shut door before him; once locked, the information within remains unknown to the dreamer unless extracted, making it utterly inaccessible.

Though inconvenient, it ensures safety. After all, acquiring such power that even gods dread under divine surveillance isn't easy.

But now, things are different.

Edwin glanced upward at the void of white light above him.

In the past, it wasn't empty, but rather housed a sinister "sun," symbolizing the Lord of Eternal Nightmare's gaze.

But now, it's gone, the array had evidently taken effect.

"Ha, these black merchants occasionally create surprises," Edwin rubbed his hands eagerly, heading towards the door symbolizing the deep dream realm, "a dream unobserved is truly wonderful..."

Halfway through speaking, Edwin's body suddenly froze, then he swiftly turned around.

Yet behind him was only a blanket of white light.

...What is going on?

In that brief moment, Edwin once more felt a sense of being watched.

Was it the Lord of Eternal Nightmare?

Checking rigorously, Edwin found no sign of the Lord's presence; the shallow dream was clean.

How strange, was it a psychological effect? Having been perpetually observed by the Lord of Eternal Nightmare, is the sudden absence unsettling?

After repeatedly searching for anomalies to no avail, Edwin convinced himself it was an illusion.

This time without hesitating, he opened the door and stepped into the deep dream realm.

Edwin's deep dream space wasn't large, resembling a small office where rows of glowing blue memory cores lay instead of books.

"Finally..." Edwin murmured as he picked up one, "this time I can read them thoroughly without forgetting again."

These memory cores weren't diverse taboos but rather one taboo fragmented by Edwin into this current form.

Edwin has always exercised extreme caution with this knowledge. Even within his deep dream realm, he dared not fully unravel it at once, only reading a bit each time before quickly forgetting, fearing knowing too much may lead to unforeseen consequences; who knows if the gods added any safeguards to this information?

After all, this knowledge Edwin gleaned directly from the Lord of Eternal Nightmare's mind.

Yes, you heard right; the source of this taboo is indeed the Lord of Eternal Nightmare.

As mentioned before, the dream space where the Eternal Nightmare Apostles reside is indeed among the Lord's dreams, and this taboo resides within, stumbled upon by Edwin, the Dream Scholar.

Perhaps it's fate.

Edwin prepared to unravel the memory core but found doing so one by one lacked efficiency and ceremony.

"Indeed, great knowledge deserves birth amidst ritual," Edwin murmured, closing his eyes, "thus, let us..."

At his mental incantation, upon reopening his eyes, five replicas were now present in the room.

All five were Edwin, each holding a memory core, smiling at one another.

"Let us together reveal this taboo!"

They spoke in unison, then contentedly seated themselves on conjured chairs, their memory cores manifesting into books.

Thus, the six Edwins lowered their heads together, engrossed in unraveling the knowledge like participants in an essential academic symposium.

...

Hewinia watched Edwin, eyes shut tight, mumbling incessantly.

Since earlier, Edwin had been dream-talking about "Visas" and the like.

Initially, Hewinia intended to leave, fearing exposure to the Divine Oath Mark outside the array if Edwin inadvertently spoke of the taboo.

Yet, just as she was about to depart, Edwin's words from within the array halted her: "Visas were originally human!"

Her poised foot hesitated, retracting immediately.

After brief contemplation, she abandoned her escape, decisively stepping into Edwin's array.

...

"Visas were originally human!" one Edwin in the dream realm exclaimed, "certainly not a new species, at least not initially."

Every Edwin raised their head to gaze at this Edwin.

"Truly human?" pondered the original Edwin, "though we suspected as much, the confirmation still astounds."

Debate surrounding Visas' humanity isn't new, enduring incessant dispute through the years.
