Chapter 61: It Was Him
For many, tonight is destined to be a sleepless night.
The Guardians of the Contract Land, representatives of the Seven Great Churches, all gathered around an opened tent, staring at the enormous dead body inside.
The corpse belonged to the Prison Director, seemingly severed by some powerful force, with strange tentacles protruding from the abdominal cut, intertwined with the sealing chains of the upper body, making it difficult to discern for a moment.
But the fact that he is dead cannot be disputed.
The Prison Director of the Contract Land, very possibly a living fossil from ancient times that survived until today, died silently just like that?
"Do you have anything more to say?" The leading Guardian coldly gazed at Isaiah, who was surrounded by Guardians but showed little change in expression.
"I have nothing to say," Isaiah said calmly, "because it wasn't me."
Upon hearing this, the leading Guardian suddenly stepped forward, his huge body, not much shorter than the Prison Director, pressed toward Isaiah like a mountain.
"Do you think we're all fools?!" The Guardian angrily drew his sword, pointing it directly at Isaiah's chest, "Do you think there's no one left to punish you?"
When the blade was unsheathed, everyone felt a distinct sense of oppression, making the magic power within them almost sluggish.
This was the unique sealing power of the Guardians of the Contract Land, the spell on the sword could suppress not only Visas but also ordinary magic power. Hence, anyone's power would first decrease by thirty or forty percent during a battle with the Guardians.
Standing beside Isaiah, Mina felt it more acutely, to the extent of almost being unable to summon magic power, yet she still bit her lip hard, standing beside her teacher.
"Evidence?" Mina bit her lip and said, "Without evidence, it's slander."
"Evidence?" The Guardian said, "Who else here has the strength to kill the Prison Director aside from him?"
"So just because my teacher is strong, you suspect him?"
"Ha, if you put it that way, why not explain your teacher's whereabouts tonight then?" The Guardian stared intently at Isaiah, "You used such means to evade our surveillance, what were you up to?"
Mina was suddenly at a loss for words, instinctively looking toward Rocky not far away, whose expression was serious, with an "Ah, how could such a terrifying thing happen tonight" feeling, but apparently had no intention of proving Isaiah's innocence.
And Mina didn't know if Isaiah had seen Rocky at all, so she could only bite the bullet and say, "My teacher can go wherever he wants; he's not your prisoner. Your surveillance of him is the largest affront!"
Such pale and powerless explanation, the Guardian didn't even have the intention to respond, directly ignoring it, just coldly looking at Isaiah.
"Are you going to remain silent, Mr. Isaiah?" The Guardian said, "Or are you thinking about how to kill all of us?"
Isaiah said nothing, nor did he continue to be in a daze. Instead, he stepped forward, walking straight towards the corpse of the Prison Director.
The sword-drawn Guardian did not stop him, just coldly watched, while everyone's gaze focused entirely on Isaiah, only Isaiah's gaze remained on the Prison Director's body.
There was no doubt, this was Hand Eye's doing.
But it didn't happen at the moment he met Rocky, rather it was earlier.
It's just that the body was discovered at the time he met Rocky, which was also the reason why Rocky decisively fled, because on the timeline, it was possible for him to meet Rocky after killing the Prison Director.
In other words, his actions tonight were once again seen through by Hand Eye, and everything Hand Eye did targeted him.
But how did he do it?
Clearly, under so many facilities and devices in the Contract Land aiming at Visas' power, even Isaiah dared not recklessly use the power of the Right Eye, which was why Isaiah dared to use that Blinding Technique. In his view, Hand Eye, who was equally unable to further use eye power, absolutely couldn't see through this disguise.
Yet Hand Eye unbelievably saw through it, almost like a worm residing in his stomach.
And how did this guy kill the Prison Director without being noticed by anyone?
There is no doubt about the Prison Director's strength, even Isaiah could not gauge its depth, yet Hand Eye resolved him just like that?
What level of strength has he reached?
Moreover, judging from Isaiah's previous counterattack, this guy has already mastered the power of the Right Eye completely.
How did he do it?
Many doubts arose in Isaiah's mind, constantly refreshing his understanding of Hand Eye, so much so that Isaiah couldn't help but wonder whether he should divulge everything about Taoyuan Village to ensure Hand Eye's death.
Before this, Isaiah had never had such a thought, because he felt that would be surrendering to Hand Eye.
But if not, then how should he proceed?
"Haven't you thought of an excuse yet?" The Guardian behind spoke, "Your time is running out, Mr. Isaiah."
Isaiah turned around, but he did not look at this Guardian, instead, he looked behind the Guardian, at those representatives of various churches.
