Chapter 56: Visas's Origins
"This is not what we want to know!" Edwin's Second Splinter said, "Visas! Visas! Visas! That's all I care about; where does his power come from? Why did the gods stop their research on Visas when they reached Taoyuan Village?! Have they stopped caring about where Visas' power originated from?"
"No, they do care." At this time, Edwin's main body finally finished browsing the information in his hand and said, "Because they clearly understand this point, they have shaped the current structure of the world."
All the splinters looked towards the main body.
"The last research on Visas was conducted by the Eight Great Gods only after the civil war ended." Edwin's main body's eyes flickered with extremely complex light, "They confirmed countless times, and with each other's divine powers, they recreated and deduced everything in Visas' life, and finally discovered the reason."
"What is it?!"
"Taoyuan Village."
The splinters were stunned for a moment, then turned to look at the splinter who had provided the information on Taoyuan Village earlier: "But didn't you just say that there was no power in Taoyuan Village?"
"There is indeed no power in Taoyuan Village, but it is unique enough." The main body said, "It is isolated from the world and unaware of the existence of the Divine Race."
"So what?"
"Not knowing also means not fearing." The main body said lightly, "In ancient times, almost no humans would not fear the Divine Race, and under such extreme suppression, no one would think of challenging the Divine Race."
The splinters looked at each other, still not understanding what the main body meant.
What? Can being unafraid of the gods really grant power? That's too far-fetched.
"Can you be clearer?" The splinters felt dissatisfied.
"I wish I could make it clear directly, but I can't." Edwin's main body said, "Because I discovered that our entire world is a lie. Gentlemen, do you remember what powers humans currently possess?"
"Of course, it's Magic and Divine Arts."
This is the most basic knowledge.
"Yes, Magic comes from human innate talent, and Divine Arts come from the gifts of the gods." Edwin said slowly, "So which is stronger, Magic or Divine Arts?"
"Of course Divine Arts are stronger, is there even a need to ask?"
Edwin's main body immediately focused on the splinter who said this: "Why?"
"Of course, because..." The splinter was about to answer but suddenly thought of something and stopped abruptly.
"This is what the gods have told you." Edwin said, "Because the gods are the most powerful race in this world, their power is naturally far beyond humans, so people who pursue power would naturally subconsciously gravitate towards Divine Arts. But Visas didn't know this common knowledge; no one ever told him."
In an instant, all the splinters in the Deep Dream Realm fell silent, but each of their faces showed the same shock.
"This is the gods' extrapolation." Edwin said slowly, "Visas does not know fear, does not understand what is strong; his mind is not tainted by the Divine Race. He only saw his hometown being sacrificed, saw his relatives slaughtered by the gods, so his heart was left only with anger. And he didn't know how to use power, as no one ever taught him, so he could only rely on himself to survive. In his destroyed hometown, his full rage pushed his potential to the limit, and so he succeeded."
"This... is this really possible?"
"At least the gods believe so." Edwin said word by word, "They believe Visas is the inevitable product of humanity not being mentally corrupted, of having no fear of external forces, and pushing themselves to the extreme. In other words, Visas did not acquire any special power, but under extremely specific conditions, he found the power that inherently belonged to him, and every human has the potential to obtain such power."
"So everyone could potentially become Visas!"
At the moment those words fell, no one spoke for a long time, and the heavy breathing was all that remained in the Deep Dream Realm.
Although everyone agreed with the main body's statement, someone couldn't help but ask, "Is there evidence?"
"The evidence is this current world reshaped by the gods!" Edwin's main body looked brightly, "The fundamental logic of this current world is that the gods are preventing another Visas from emerging!"
"They make all humans into believers! They taint the minds of all humans, telling us that the gods are supreme! That's why they established the Eight Great Churches and the Contract Land to cover the entire world!"
"And even that's not enough! They have added other things to our thoughts. Rhein likes the same sex, Lyra pursues mechanics, Holy Sound likens itself to a note, including Eternal Nightmare, which immerses itself in eternal dreams! They subtly twist our perception, making us clearly human, but no longer 'human' in the normal sense! Because we pursue the power of the gods, we like the things the gods like, every one of us is no longer pure! We are just symbols the gods want us to become!"
Knowing the whole truth, Edwin's main body began to roar in meltdown.
"This world is a huge lie woven by the gods for humans! They do this to prevent another Visas from appearing!"
"And we, who have worshipped the gods, can no longer become Visas, nor can we ever resist them again."
Edwin collapsed in despair on the ground, and the five splinters simultaneously disappeared, leaving him alone in the entire Deep Dream Realm.
He mumbled as if soullessly.
"Never possible again."
