Chapter 14: The Seeds of Division
Aiha's days grew more calculated. Manipulating Itachi required precision, but she couldn't afford to lose the trust she had carefully cultivated with Shisui. Their connection had deepened since their first conversation, with Shisui confiding in her more often. However, he remained unaware of her growing influence over Itachi—a secret she intended to keep.
It was late afternoon when Aiha decided to set her next plan in motion. She found Shisui by the riverbank, sitting on a rock as he skipped stones across the water. His usually cheerful demeanor was subdued, his eyes reflecting his inner turmoil.
"Shisui," she called softly, approaching him.
He glanced over his shoulder, his expression brightening at the sight of her. "Aiha. What brings you here?"
She sat beside him, her gaze fixed on the rippling water. "I was worried about you. You've seemed... distracted lately."
Shisui sighed, tossing another stone into the river. "It's nothing. Just the usual clan issues."
"Does it have anything to do with Itachi?" Aiha asked, her tone innocent but probing.
Shisui stiffened slightly, then shook his head. "Not exactly. Itachi and I don't always see eye to eye, but he's still my closest friend. I just wish things were simpler."
Aiha tilted her head, feigning confusion. "Simpler? What do you mean?"
Shisui hesitated, his hand tightening around a stone. "I feel like I'm being pulled in too many directions. The clan expects one thing, the village expects another, and then there's Itachi... he's under so much pressure, and I can't always be there for him."
Aiha placed a hand on his arm, her touch light but reassuring. "You're trying your best, Shisui. No one can fault you for that. But maybe... it's time to prioritize what really matters."
He looked at her, his brows furrowing. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that sometimes, trying to please everyone only makes things worse. You have to focus on what you believe in, on what will truly make a difference. And maybe... Itachi needs to realize that, too."
Shisui's gaze flickered with uncertainty. "Itachi is trying to protect the clan in his own way. I can't fault him for that."
"But is he really protecting it?" Aiha asked gently, her eyes searching his. "Or is he just adding to the conflict? Sometimes, even the best intentions can lead to disaster."
Shisui's lips parted, but he said nothing. Aiha could see the doubt creeping into his mind, and she knew she had struck a chord.
"I'm not saying Itachi is wrong," she continued, her tone softening. "But maybe he needs someone to guide him, to remind him what's truly important. And that someone is you, Shisui. You're the only one who can reach him."
Shisui's expression shifted, determination flickering in his eyes. "You're right. I need to talk to him. But... what if he doesn't listen?"
"Then you try again," Aiha said firmly. "Because that's what friends do. You're not just his friend, Shisui—you're his anchor. Without you, he could lose his way."
Shisui nodded slowly, his resolve strengthening. "I'll talk to him. Thanks, Aiha. You always know how to put things into perspective."
She smiled, her heart pounding with satisfaction. Shisui was so easy to sway, his trust in her growing with every interaction. But her ultimate goal wasn't just to influence him—it was to create a rift between him and Itachi, a subtle but effective way to weaken their bond.

Later that evening, Aiha sought out Itachi, finding him in the training hall. He was alone, practicing his taijutsu with precise, mechanical movements.
"Itachi," she called softly, stepping into the room.
He paused, turning to face her. "Aiha. Is something wrong?"
She hesitated, wringing her hands as if nervous. "I wanted to talk to you about Shisui."
Itachi's eyes narrowed slightly. "What about him?"
"I'm worried about him," Aiha said, her voice trembling just enough to sound sincere. "He's been under so much pressure lately, trying to balance his loyalty to the clan and his duty to the village. And I feel like... he's slipping away."
Itachi's expression darkened, and he crossed his arms. "Shisui is strong. He'll manage."
"But does he have to manage alone?" Aiha asked, stepping closer. "You're his best friend, Itachi. If anyone can help him, it's you."
Itachi's gaze softened, and he looked away. "I know. But the path I've chosen doesn't leave much room for distractions."
"Distractions?" Aiha repeated, her tone sharpening. "Shisui isn't a distraction, Itachi. He's your anchor. Without him, how will you stay grounded?"
Itachi flinched, her words striking a nerve. "I don't have a choice, Aiha. The clan, the village... they're counting on me."
"And so is Shisui," Aiha said quietly. "Don't let him down, Itachi. Don't let the weight of your responsibilities blind you to what really matters."
Itachi didn't respond, his expression unreadable. Aiha knew she had planted another seed of doubt, subtly pitting the two friends against each other.
As she left the training hall, a cold smile curved her lips. The Uchiha clan was like a puzzle, each piece carefully interlocking. And Aiha intended to rearrange them all to fit her design.
