When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 300: Thena

Thena stepped out, spotting the two figures at her door.

"So, we have visitors," she said calmly.

But the moment her gaze fell on Fox, it was like staring into a mirror. Her pupils glazed over, turning completely white—an attack of Mahd Wy'ry overtaking her. In an instant, her weapon materialized in her hand, and she lunged straight for Fox.

The sudden strike stunned Fox. For a moment she was frozen, wondering if this woman was some long-lost twin. She had never once heard of having a hidden sister. Lost in thought, she barely registered the golden blade tip closing in on her eye.

Gilgamesh's face twisted.

"Damn it, not now!"

Though cursing, his body reacted immediately, his fist swinging toward Thena's shoulder.

Smith Dole had been watching closely since Thena first spoke. The instant her state shifted, he seized Fox and leapt back in a burst of speed.

"Boom!"

He carried Fox out of range just as Gilgamesh's hand clashed with Thena's shield. Her spear thrust missed its mark, redirected by her battle instincts.

Breathing hard, Fox glared.

"She just tried to kill me?"

She drew her pistol, but Smith shook his head.

"Put it away. That won't work on her."

Meanwhile, Gilgamesh was going all out, looking for an opening to knock Thena unconscious—ending her episode. In this state she fought purely on instinct, lacking her full precision.

Each clash thundered through the small homestead.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Fox lowered her weapon, realizing bullets were pointless here.

"I'll handle this," Smith said, eyes narrowing. His aura flared as he dove into the fray.

Thena spun, axe sweeping toward him.

"Careful! She's lost to Mahd Wy'ry!" Gilgamesh warned, rushing alongside.

Smith ducked under the strike, drove his shoulder into her chest, and launched her like a cannonball.

"Boom!"

Thena crashed through their modest kitchen wall.

Gilgamesh whistled, thumbs up. "First time I've seen someone actually knock her back."

But Thena rose again, weapons shifting—axe in one hand, sword in the other. With a feral roar, she charged, collapsing what remained of their home.

The axe slashed down, forcing Smith into a desperate sidestep. The sword whipped around, already cutting back.

"Thena! Your fight's with me!" Gilgamesh bellowed, intercepting with bracers shimmering along his arms. He swatted her sword aside and raised his fist.

Above them, Smith's eyes flashed.

"Magic Eye Beam!"

Twin crimson rays blasted into Thena, staggering her long enough for Gilgamesh to slam her unconscious.

"Thud!"

She collapsed, finally still.

Gilgamesh sighed with relief, then glanced up at Smith, hovering midair. A warrior like that… he reminded him faintly of Ikaris.

He hoisted Thena onto a table.

"The danger's passed. You can come here now."

Smith and Fox approached. Smith studied her—his blows, even the beam, had left no mark. The Eternals' strength was clearly far beyond the movies he remembered.

Fox frowned.

"What was that? Why did she attack me the moment she saw me?"

Gilgamesh bowed his head slightly.

"My apologies. That was Mahd Wy'ry. When it strikes, she lashes out without reason. Thankfully, no one was harmed." He studied Fox more closely. "But tell me, who are you both?"

Smith introduced them.

"I'm Smith Dole. This is Fox."

Fox added, "We're staff for the Dragon Ball Tournament. We're here to verify the holder and confirm their participation."

At the mention of Dragon Balls, Gilgamesh smiled.

"Finally. We've been waiting for you. But… the holder is Thena. We'll need to wait until she wakes."
