When Dragon Balls Descend Upon Marvel

Chapter 247: Thor’s Wish

Elsewhere.

At the temporary residence of Jane Foster and the others, Erik Selvig looked on helplessly as Thor and Jane bustled together in the kitchen. Just last night, he had reminded Thor not to hurt Jane Foster — yet after one drunken evening, it felt as if months had passed and the two were suddenly acting like a couple.

Darcy Lewis sat with her laptop, looking excited.

"Everyone, maybe my dream wasn't fake after all — I've found evidence!"

Startled by Darcy's tone, Dr. Selvig asked,

"What?"

"What did you find?"

Darcy turned her laptop screen toward him.

"Information about the Dragon Balls. I didn't expect so many people online to be buying them, and they're listed across all sorts of platforms.

"Even on the dark web, the highest offer for a Dragon Ball has been driven up to ten million dollars."

Jane Foster came over to look, gasping.

"Oh my god, how is this possible?"

Selvig was equally stunned.

"This is incredible. At such a high price… could your dream actually have been real?"

Darcy nodded.

"Very likely. Otherwise, no one would offer that kind of money."

Jane turned to her.

"Darcy, how much did you sell your Dragon Ball for?"

Darcy froze, then answered awkwardly,

"Five hundred dollars."

Originally, she had been proud of that — selling something she picked up for $500 was a great brag. But now, learning that others were willing to pay ten million for it, she just felt like a fool.

Jane shook her head.

"Darcy, looks like you missed your chance to get rich."

Thor, now fully understanding, looked at Darcy.

"That Dragon Ball — can it really grant any wish?"

Darcy shook her head.

"I don't know, but from what I've gathered, if you collect all seven Dragon Balls, you can summon the Shenlong (Divine Dragon), and it can grant any wish."

"Shenlong…" Thor muttered.

"Can I see what a Dragon Ball looks like?"

Darcy typed for a moment and brought up a picture showing all seven.

"This is them — seven Dragon Balls, each with one to seven stars inside."

As Thor stared at the image, a thought struck him — he could gather all seven Dragon Balls and use them to resurrect his father, Odin.

Jane cut in,

"Don't think about something so unrealistic. It's like the magic lamp from Aladdin. Besides, seven of these would cost seventy million dollars — none of us could afford that. And if it were real, would seventy million really be enough to buy a wish? That's way too cheap.

"And if a Shenlong really existed, why hasn't there been any sign of it?"

Darcy spoke softly,

"Jane… remember the recent global blackout event?"

Jane fell silent. They had investigated that incident but found nothing.

"Alright, enough about something so far away from us. Thor gave me a new idea, and I'd like to share it."

Jane then explained the Bifröst, the Nine Realms, and the World Tree, as Thor had described them.

Dr. Selvig listened and then said,

"Jane, it's an interesting idea, but the biggest problem is that you have no evidence or scientific basis for it. Without proof, no one will believe it."

Thor, however, wasn't thinking about that at all — his mind was on the Dragon Balls. Were they real? Could they be collected? Did the Shenlong truly have the power to revive his father? As Odin's son, he had never heard of such a legend. If Midgard had such a treasure, why hadn't his father conquered it to claim the Dragon Balls?

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door and the sound of familiar voices.

Turning, he saw four figures outside and was stunned.

Just yesterday, Loki had told him he was permanently exiled and forbidden from returning to Asgard, and that his mother didn't want to see him.

"We found you!"

Their appearance startled Jane, Darcy, and Selvig so much they dropped their cups.

Recovering, Thor rushed over.

"My friends! This is wonderful!"

Selvig, who had just been hearing a tale straight out of Norse mythology, murmured,

"Amazing… truly amazing…"

After embracing the Warriors Three and Sif, Thor introduced them.

"These are my friends — Sif and the Warriors Three. I'm glad to see you, but you shouldn't have come."

Hogun frowned.

"We came to take you home."

Thor looked puzzled.

"You know I can't go home. My father died because of me. I must remain in exile. But here, there's a divine object called a Dragon Ball that might be able to bring my father back to life.

"Since you're here, you can help me find them."

Sif didn't understand what Dragon Balls were, but she knew Odin wasn't dead. Her face turned serious.

"Thor, your father is still alive."

Thor froze, then quickly realized Loki had tricked him again.

He'd been fooled by his brother since childhood, but this time he was truly angry — not for being kept out of Asgard, but because Loki had lied about their father's death. That was unforgivable.

Still, the thought of using the Dragon Balls remained. If he could gather them, he could wish for the removal of his seal, regain his power, and return to Asgard.

"Wonderful! I knew Father was fine. Loki is far too mischievous — when I return, I'll give him a good beating. As for the wish, I'll just change it to removing my seal."

Hearing Thor's biased tone, Sif and the Warriors Three exchanged glances. Finally, Sif asked,

"Thor, what is a Shenlong? And why do you want to make a wish to it?"
