What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 664: I'm Trying It Too?

Yumiko turned back to us, "How was that? Should I do it more seriously?"

That wasn't even you when you were serious?! Were you holding back when you were fighting those assholes who quite literally betrayed you?

You're seriously telling me you weren't even fighting seriously back when those guys were trying to kill you?! What the heck is wrong with you?!

I turned towards the Zwerger who was just staring at her, "So… What do you think?"

He turned to scowl at me, "Does it look like I could see anything, lass? Could you even see what happened?"

"Of course not. But I thought you might have a keener eye than me so maybe you could see it…"

I mean… All I saw were just her after images literally taking a step in every direction to hit each of her targets across their heads before she returned to her original position.

It felt like I was looking at something happening far away out of the corner of my eye if that made any sense.

Yumiko tilted her head, "Was that not good enough? Should I do that again?"

The Zwerger said nothing and simply tapped on the screen again, prompting more of those projections to appear around her, this time numbering two dozens in total.

I have a feeling he was ramping up the numbers out of spite somewhat…

Yumiko did not protest and merely turned back to face her new targets, settling herself back into a stance again.

Once again, her figure blurred once more and this time she reappeared in a different spot than when she started.

A split second passed and all of the constructs burst into particles of light, indicating they were 'killed'.

The Zwerger smith growled and tapped on the console again, this time summoning twice as many of them as before.

Once more, Yumiko did not voice out any complaints and merely lowered herself into her combat stance once more, almost like she was used to seeing something like this.

Maybe she has to deal with such overwhelming odds during her time in the military? Heck, most likely even as a pirate too, now that I think about it.

All of us watched as she sucked in a breath before she disappeared again.

This time though, instead of just reappearing somewhere and stopping, I saw her reappearing in the air while in the midst of a backflip. She then landed on top of one of the targets before her figure blurred once more.

I managed to catch sight of her appearing in between two of the targets for a brief moment like she was catching her breath before she struck both of them at the back of their heads in an instant.

She then took a final look around as the hard light constructs all shattered into light shards before she 'sheathed' the metal stick at her waist to straighten herself.

"Was that good enough? I might be able to do better if I had two swords though."

She's seriously telling us this isn't even her best…

The Zwerger actually puffed up his cheeks before pointing at her, "You wait here."

He then ran out of the training hall and left us standing there staring at each other.

I decided to take that time to confront Yumiko and stormed up to her in a huff.

"Yumiko…"

She spun to face me, "Eh? What is it, Mistress?"

"You… You were holding back when we had to fight those people who betrayed you… Weren't you?"

She grimaced, "Ah… It's not like I meant to… It's just that I unconsciously did so because they were people I knew… Or at least people I thought I knew…"

Hmm… At least I know that she has compassion for her people then… Unlike a certain parasite that was being researched by Mara right now… Or those assholes who betrayed her.

She tilted her head at me, "Mistress… Might you also want a sword for yourself as well?"

"Eh? What made you say that?"

"I noticed you watching me really closely, Mistress. Was that just my imagination? I thought you were trying to learn my moves so I tried to move slower than normal so that you could see my movements more clearly."

That was your 'slower than normal'?! Are you serious?!!

I huffed, "Who could even see any of that clearly? You were moving so fast that I bet a camera would even have difficulty catching you in a video!"

Ries nodded beside me, "That's right! You were so cool, Yumiko!"

"I could see her though, Daddy? She's definitely moving faster than other trash but I could still see her quite clearly."

Renata, you keep quiet. People who are questionably not normal shouldn't chime in at this point.

Yumiko tilted her head at me, "Mistress… I believe you should be able to see me though?"

"Why are you even so sure about that?"

"Mmm… I don't know how to explain it, but I feel that Mistress is just capable of it?"

"I have no idea what gave you that idea but all I saw is just some afterimages of you moving around… and they're not even clear images too but really blurry ones."

Yumiko stared at me for a moment before she turned to Ries, "Umm… Ries? Are you able to operate that control panel to create those dummy targets again?"

Ries thumped her chest, "Of course I can! This wouldn't even be the first time I operated something like this! I used to work in a weapons testing range too and they also had one of these!"

Err… Are you girls sure this is a good idea? I mean… This isn't exactly our place, right? Why are we messing with their stuff?

But before I could even ask that, Ries had already gone over to the console and took position in front of it.

In the meantime, Yumiko handed the metal pipe to me, "Mistress… Why don't you try it out for yourself?"

I took the metal pipe purely on reflex before raising my eyebrow at her, "Eh? Me? Are you sure?"

She nodded, "It would be better to experience it yourself instead of hearing someone else talk about it, right?"

Experience myself? Experience what?

Right then, twelve of those targets suddenly popped up in front of me right as Yumiko stepped away.

Ugh… I guess I was also a little curious about how this thing worked so I wouldn't mind trying to see if--

"Ah… Oh no…"

All of us turned to see Ries looking a little panicked at the back.

She looked up at me, "Err… I'm too used to setting it for live fire testing… So those things would actually move and attack…"

Eh?

I suddenly felt danger coming from the front and my body moved before I could even process what that danger was.

All of a sudden, I realised I was holding the metal pipe in front of me and using it to block a strike from one of those target dummies that tried to swing at me.

Right then, I felt a jolt coming from the side, almost like I got jolted by static electricity or something.

Turning to look, I realised it was due to one of the target dummies shooting their gun at me which caused the jolt.

While it wasn't exactly painful, it was certainly annoying and I could feel a little numb from it.

It definitely would not be a good idea to keep getting hit especially if all twelve of them attack me at the same time.

I sensed something coming from behind and this time I didn't try to fight the feeling and spun around to swing the pipe behind me, smashing it into the head of one of those target dummies.

Another uneasy feeling came from the side and I reacted by swinging the pipe back around, parrying a dummy from trying to strike at me before I kicked it away.

After that, it felt like things became a blur as I started swinging the pipe while also shifting around to avoid the blows and shots from the training dummies.

And when I figured out that I could actually use the metal pole to redirect the bullets coming from the dummies, I also started swinging it to deflect them back to my shooter.

I don't even remember most of what happened as I shifted in between the targets since I was just letting my body move on autopilot, mostly more out of instinct than anything else.

That wasn't to say that I was flawless though, since I still got shocked a few times from being hit.

It really felt annoying so I quickly started making a conscious effort to avoid getting hit while also prioritising taking them out as quickly as I could.

Soon enough, I found gaps in their defences and quickly dispatched the remaining target dummies while avoiding their attacks, smacking each of them in the head and eliminating them from the field.

I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding before turning back to my girls, intending to tell off Ries for doing something dangerous but only to see the girls clapping enthusiastically at me.

Err…. What happened?
