Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 235: An Agreement

Damian didn't react, even as I raised Cassian's heart like a trophy. His actions showed he didn't care about Cassian.

Based on what Cassian said and what I'm observing now, it seemed Damian was acting solely to protect his city.

I've been trying to find out what weak link he had since he didn't have any living family members or any friends. Turns out it was this city all along. This city was all he cared about.

"Tell me about this deal you want to propose," I said.

"I'll offer you the chance to take Cassian's place as one of the heads of this city."

Become a leader of Purgatory? That is an interesting offer. I bet the reason he was making this offer was so he could keep an eye on me.

All of this just because Selthia's mother happens to be some powerful entity. I'll have to find out more about this sea witch from Selthia, and I bet that Damian will also be doing his own investigation about us.

"I also want the Veylmont mansion and also the vampires who were under their command. I want everything they owned to be now mine."

Damian stared at me with the same unreadable expression.

"That's fine by me. But Cassian had a wife, I'm sure she'll protest, but I'll leave that to you." Damian then strode towards me. "As for what I want from you, I want you to cease your attack on this city. I also want you to properly handle the sea witch's daughter. Do whatever it takes to not get her mother involved."

I didn't even know that Selthia's mother had such an influence, but Damian didn't know that. Since Selthia was with me, he must've assumed that I had the sea witch on my side too. Damian then held out his hand for a handshake.

"Deal?"

I reached out and shook his hand.

"Deal," I said with a smile on my face.

I held his grip firmly in my hands, trying to get a measure of his strength. I put quite a bit of force behind my hold, but he didn't react. I then pulled him closer so the two of us were just inches apart. I needed to be close enough to hear his heartbeat.

"Answer this truthfully. Did you use your hypnosis on them?" I asked, my eyes glowing dangerously orange as I tried to dissect the truth from him.

Damian continued to stare at me with his usual blank expression.

"Don't worry, they are fine. I only knocked them unconscious. The demon is impossible to mind control because of Lucifer's influence. And for whatever reason, it was impossible for me to mind control the sea witch's daughter."

Hearing that, I felt a bit relieved. It seemed it was impossible for him to mind control people whom I had turned.

Damian then proceeded to lift Selthia and Khalissi off his shoulders and handed them to me.

"I'll be taking my leave. I'll be informing the Queen Witches of the deal we've made today."

"What if they object?"

Damian stared at me blankly. "They can't."

With those words, a thick white fog suddenly began to form around us. The fog covered Damian's figure, making him disappear for just a second before he suddenly emerged from the fog, but this time as a bat with bulging red eyes.

He flew up into the air and soon disappeared into the night's sky.

"That vampire is quite the strange one, isn't he?" Suddenly Khalissi spoke up as I held her up in my arms.

'I knew she wasn't unconscious.'

"You were listening in all along, weren't you?"

"Hmm… maybe. But this is quite the turn, isn't it? Who would've thought that the siren would have a mother powerful enough to shake that odd-ball vampire?" Khalissi chuckled.

"Do you know anything about her?"

"Actually, I don't. It's quite he shock. Though I did hear something about a supposed threat that lived at the bottom of the ocean. But it wasn't a siren; it was some sort of monster, supposedly. The intel was old, so we weren't sure if this monster was still alive."

I didn't have a clue about this monster she was speaking of, but I couldn't worry about it for now. I still have the remaining vampires that came with Cassian to worry about. As if knowing exactly what I was thinking, a smile bloomed on Khalissi's face.

"I'll need you to stay here and protect Selthia," I quickly said.

"Wha! That's not fair! There are a lot of exp out there! You just wanna hog it all to yourself!"

She was exactly right. I didn't like the idea of sharing my kills, especially since I was trying to evolve.

"I'm not planning to kill all of them. Only the weak ones. I'll recruit the stronger vampires into my pack after I break them. Vampires are stubborn creatures, and I am a werewolf. Most wouldn't like the idea of joining my pack."

Khalissi pouted.

"No fair."

I patted her on the head.

"Don't worry, I'll make it up to you."

"You dare make such a promise to a demon. Foolish choice, I'll make you pay ten times over, just you wait." She smirked. She took a few glances at me, looking at me from head to toe. She finally realized that I was still holding her and that I wasn't wearing any clothes.

Transforming into a wolf always left me naked since my clothes were always destroyed. It was a bit of a nuisance, but I didn't mind it much.

"Fine, go ahead."

Maybe I should've made such a promise, but I didn't have time to dwell on it. I could still hear signs of struggle between the members of my pack and the vampires of the Veylmont clan.

My body started to heat as my temperature rose to its peak. My teeth transformed into sharp canines, and my claws got even bigger. Black fur burst out from every inch of my body, transforming me into a giant wolf.

I raised my nose, taking in the scent of blood all around me, and suddenly, I felt stronger.

"Enjoy your hunt."

With my bloodlust at its peak, I burst forward, my mind consumed by the thrill of the hunt that awaited me.
