Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 154: Back to the Inn

For a second, it felt as if the world had frozen still. The sound of his magic was so vivid. The air itself changed. It was so thick that it felt like breathing took twice the energy it used to. At that moment, I acted instantly and grabbed Yuki before the lich's magic tore through the city.

The ground shook from the massive release of power as the dark flames that erupted from its magic consumed everything in its path, incinerating them in an instant. I barely managed to escape with Yuki in time.

Yuki and I stood silent for a second, letting reality settle. The smoke from the lich's flames lingered in the distance as the screams from those unlucky enough to get caught up it the destruction slowly faded. Yuki and I watched from atop a building further way.

"That skeleton is crazy," Yuki spoke before breaking out in an hysterical laughter. "Did you see it? He almost got us!"

She cackled as she clutched her stomach.

"There are bound to be a few civilians caught up in the destruction." I replied.

"That lich doesn't care. He's killed more than a few people before. There are no prisons here in Purgatory so if you step out of line, you're dead. That's just how it is. Anyway, what should we do now? Should we continue this hunt and have the lich chase us around the city on a wild goose chase? That sounds like fun."

My heart felt as if it was beating out of my chest.

I couldn't have survived that. I had a small burn mark on my arm which wasn't healing. If we didn't escape in time then we would've been done for.

That lich is more powerful than I thought. It's a reminder that not only the vampires and witches hold power in this city. There are ones here that would put the demons on the outside world to shame.

"No, we should go back to the inn. I've already done what I wanted. Tomorrow things will get a lot more interesting…"

Yuki looked at me confused and tilted her head.

"What do you mean?"

"For now, never mind that. Your sister must be there waiting for us."

"Sissy?" Yuki smiled and clasped her hands. "Let's go!"

A few minutes later, we arrived back at the inn. The familiar scent of alcohol and sweaty drunk men wafted in my nostrils. They weren't as rowdy tonight; instead, they stood gazing at the banshee singing a beautiful tune up on the small stage. They were all completely smitten by her voice.

Behind the crowd was a beautiful blue haired girl watching with a frown on her face. I approached her without her even noticing I was there while Yuki wandered off to find her sister.

"Why don't you give it a try? I'm sure they'll love you," I said as I stood beside her.

Selthia turned her head to look at me and a gentle smile appeared on her face.

"I would go up there, but my voice is only for my darling and not for the enjoyment of random idiots."

"I wouldn't mind."

I must've said something she didn't like because immediately her smile turned into a pout.

"Can you at least try being more possessive of me?"

"Possessive?"

"Yes, and more controlling."

"Is this some kind of fetish?" I asked trying to understand the logic behind her request.

From the look on her face I could tell that she was serious.

"It's just something I'd like going forward." She responded.

"Well, if that's your wish, then okay." I stepped closer and pulled her into me by her waist. The moment I grabbed her, her face turned crimson, and that attitude she had disappeared in an instant. "As your possessive and controlling alpha, I command you to climb up on that stage and sing for me."

She stared up at me and gulped hard.

"O-okay!"

Without hesitation, she climbed onto the stage and took over from the banshee, who reluctantly stepped aside. At first, the crowd began to grow restless when they saw the banshee leave and an unknown woman take her place, but they all calmed the moment they heard her voice.

The entire inn was enveloped in the beauty of her melody. It was soothing as it gave a sort of healing effect to the mind.

They were all captivated by her just like I was the first time I heard her sing. I could tell she wanted to sing on that stage from the moment she came to the inn, but she was like Isabella in some ways. They deny the things they really want simply because they think they won't be able to get it. It was a ludicrous mentality that I hope to break.

As Selthia continued to captivate the crowd of drunk men with her beautiful voice, I went to find Ivy and Yuki. It didn't take long before I spotted the two embracing each other. Ivy hugged her sister tightly while Yuki returned her embrace.

I approached the two, interrupting their tearful reunion. The moment Ivy saw me approaching, she pulled herself away from her sister and wiped the tears from her eyes.

"What happened? Where did the two of you go? I thought something happened," she asked.

"It was your sister's fault." i responded and immediately Yuki's jaws dropped.

"Wha! No it's not!"

Yuki tried to deny it but her sister merely sighed exhaustedly and shook her head. She knew exactly what her sister was like so it wasn't that hard to believe.

"That sounds like her. I'm sorry for her crazy behavior, and thank you. Your help means a lot."

Yuki pretended to feel hurt that her sister didn't believe her butt quickly brushed it off as she had something else to share.

"Sissy, Liam gave me a gift," Yuki said her excitement palpable while Ivy stared at her with a puzzled look on her face.

"What kind of gift?" She questioned but then her eyes suddenly widened. "Wait, did you turn her?"

"Yes, I did. Why do you sound surprised?"

"Well, I'm not surprised that you tried to turn her. I figured you would do something like that. I'm just surprised that she allowed you to turn her in the first place."

"This means we're part of a werewolf pack," Yuki said as she grabbed a hold of her sister's hand in excitement.

I decided to give them both some space since they had just reunited. I excused myself and decided to go back to my room. The moment I opened the door, an ominous feeling settled in my stomach when I saw the lamia, Asia, lying unconscious on the floor.

At first, I thought that Isabella's mother might've woken up, but I looked towards the bed and saw that she was still there, laying unconscious. This must've been caused by something else. I rushed over to Asia and tried to wake her up.

Her face was as pale as a ghost. I shook her, and she slowly started opening her eyes.

"Master Liam, what happened?" She asked weakly.

"I found you passed out on the floor. Are you okay?"

"Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I forgot to feed again and I forgot that constantly using my venom drains my stamina. Silly me, haha."

'So she spent all her time here watching over Isabella's mother all because I asked her to. And because of that, she forgot to take care of herself.'

I lowered myself towards her and offered her my neck.

"You can feed on me."

"Eh?! I can't do that! Your blood is too special; it would be wasted on someone like me. Someone like me is undeserving. I still have some lamb blood from yesterday's slaughter, or I can simply ask my father for blood."

"No, this is my gift to you for your help. I'll be offended if you don't."

"Oh no, please don't feel that way," she panicked when she heard I would feel offended. "Okay, I'll only take a bit. Enough so I'm strong enough to move."

That was all it took. Her naivety made her easy to manipulate.

A pink blush danced on her cheeks all the way to the tip of her pointed ears. Her breathing grew erratic as she brought her lips close to my neck. Her warm body slowly wrapping around me. It felt as if it was pulsing.

'So this is what being wrapped up by a lamia feels like...'

Her scales were soft and squishy; exactly like a snake's.

Her trembling lips brushed against my neck before I felt a sharp pain like being pierced by a needle.
