Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 152: City Hunt

The moment I injected my werewolf venom into Yuki's body, a strange pop-up appeared in front of me.

[Ding! Anomaly detected]

At the same time, Yuki let out a loud guttural scream before collapsing to the ground, writhing in agony. She twisted and turned as her fingers dug into the floor to the point scraped the flesh off; smearing the ground in her blood.

"What is happening?" I questioned, looking at her confused.

I then grabbed her to prevent her from harming herself any further. Her screams reverberated off the walls, and they seemed to get more primal by the second. This continued for several minutes until another notification popped up.

[Organ transplant complete!

Race Name and Description:

Ghouls/The Failed Ones: This race is a result of the failed attempt of creating a race stronger than vampires. But instead, you end up with something significantly weaker, and the only thing they have in common with their progenitor is their insatiable hunger.

But hidden within their genetics is a power that even their creator failed to unlock. A secret organ unique to only ghouls. The power this this organ holds is enough to rival some of the most powerful races. The shape the organ takes will vary from ghoul to ghoul based on personality and genetics.]

Interesting… So the ghouls were the djinn's failed attempt at creating a race stronger than vampires. I'm also really interested in this organ that has been transplanted in her. I want to see how it does, and for that, I have to see her in action.

There were a lot more differences between Yuki's status than others. For one, instead of core level, she had organ level. That must mean she'll level up her organ instead of her core.

Another difference was her classification. Instead of Supernatural, she was Preternatural, which means beyond normal nature. This explains why ghouls weren't given systems like the others.

"Ugh, what happened?" Yuki asked as she rubbed the base of her neck.

"I gave you a gift."

She frowned.

"It doesn't feel like a gift. This reminds me of the time I got blasted by a lich's dark magic." She moaned as she held her head. "I'm telling Sissy."

"You can tell her later. You remember our hunt?"

A wide grin immediately appeared on her face as she heard about hunting.

"You mean the people of this city? When? Where? How?" She hastily asked.

"Tonight. You get to kill as many people as you like until you're satisfied."

"Really?"

"Yes. Let's leave Ivy for now. We'll meet up back with her later."

I offered Yuki a hand, which she gladly took, and I pulled her back to her feet. We left the building with her skipping jollily beside me.

"Oi, do you want to hunt ratfolk? I bet they even squeal like mice. Or some gang members? We can take our sweet little time slaughtering them." She asked, seeming more and more excited as she thought about who she wanted to kill.

"I'm not interested in hunting ghouls or ratfolks. I'm thinking anything outside of Grey Waste."

"Oh really? But what about the death knights and the lich? Don't get me wrong, I also want to have a good time with the fresh meat outside Grey Waste, but it's too risky, unless…"

Her face lit up in a hot red blush as she seemed to have thought of something.

"Is this your attempt at creating a double suicide? I might be into that… We'll go out in one big bang! Though if we're going to commit a double suicide i would much prefer we eat each other. A lot of ghoul couples does it right before they starve. It's so romantic."

She giggled as she danced around, looking as if she was on cloud nine.

"Don't worry about the death knights or that lich. I'll handle them. Just hunt whatever you want." I explained.

...

Together, Yuki and I left Grey Waste. The city was alive and bustling, even though it was nighttime. Yuki and I stood atop a tall building, our figures mere silhouettes in the distance as we gazed down at the poor innocent people going about their day blissfully. She seemed as if she could hardly contain her excitement about hunting them. I couldn't lie; I was feeling it too.

"Who should we slaughter first?" she tugged at my shirt, barely containing her excitement. "Oooh! look, there is a family of three!"

I ignored Yuki for the most part as I carefully scanned the crowd, looking at people who would be easy targets.

"Let's go after him," I said, pointing at a creature who I assumed was a wendigo from the large fangs protruding from its mouth. He was staggering along the street, barely keeping himself from falling over.

"He looks drunk. He's perfect!" Yuki squealed before humping from the building without hesitation.

She ducked into an alleyway which the man was about to pass.

The moment the man reached the alleyway, she sprang into action, aiming for the wendigo's neck with her sharp fangs, but just before her fangs reached his neck, he landed a devastating blow to her abdomen.

She underestimated him, and Yuki was weaker than I thought.

Yuki's legs crumbled as she fell to the ground.

"Crazy bitch, what the hell are you doing?! Don't sneak up on people like that!"

The man shouted as Yuki continued to cough on the ground. I acted instantly before anyone could see what was happening. I jumped from the building and shoved the man into the alleyway.

"Are you okay, Yuki?"

"I'm fine; this isn't the first time I've been hit by a man," she said as she struggled to her feet.

I offered her a hand and helped pull her up.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure that tonight is the last time you're hit by anyone. But first, we need to work on your fighting. You were careless. You left yourself open for a counterattack. Plus, you recklessly attacked someone stronger than you, again."

Saying that, I began to approach the drunken wendigo.

"Hey! Who are you?!"

The wendigo panicked and took a swing at me but before his fist could connect, I grabbed his arm and, in one swift motion, I ripped it from his shoulders. He tried to scream, but before he could, my fist met the base of his throat. He collapse to the ground instantly, one hand clutching his throat and blood pouring from where the other hand used to be.

"Seems like a fair enough fight. Finish him off, Yuki."

Yuki looked at the injured man, and a greedy smile appeared on her face as her eyes turned blood red. In the next instant, she jumped on the wendigo and began biting through his flesh like a hungry lion hunting wounded prey.

The injured wendigo thrashed around, trying to shake her off, but her grip was too tight. She chewed her way through his body, devouring him whole. She swallowed blood and flesh, not caring about the man's death spasms.

The scene was savage, but it was well worth it as Yuki immediately leveled up as she killed the wendigo and consumed its heart. But the moment she leveled up, something happened.

She clutched her stomach and collapsed to the ground in pain. I watched her writhe in agony before her body began to change. A red glowing tail appeared behind her. One that looked exactly like a scorpion's.
