CH165-Snap
Illial vanished without a trace, not even leaving a blur as he blitzed towards the boy, lashing his arm forward like a whip.
A loud, thundering boom sent shockwaves in the air as Samael flinched, his eyes staring at Nova's body in between him and Illial, the man's arm submerged within a circular green sphere.
"Fast as usual, Nova," Illial spoke in a high-pitched tone.
Cranking his hands, the sphere began to vibrate rapidly as Illial ripped his arm back, completely tearing it from his shoulder as he dashed back.
The leftover hands were pulverised to pieces, ripped to fine dust by the intense tremors.
"Feisty," Illial whistled.
Nova gritted his teeth as he sent the spheres sliding forward, but Illial simply whipped his hand forth as a whip of light smashed against the orb, sending it off track.
Before Samael could even move again, Nova's body rapidly accelerated as he slid forward and tried to deliver a punch towards the man. But Illial did the same as he launched forward, meeting Nova head-on.
As the two clashed, a harrowing shockwave blew the nearby earth out of proportion as they flew high in the air.
Nova's grunts echoed as Illial giggled, the damage done to his arm rapidly healing as the crushed bones began to mend back to their original position.
Nova shot another attack as he sent two green discs forward, slicing the man in half as the discs continued on their advance.
Illial looked at his chopped body as he opened his mouth, his snake-like tongue lashing out towards Nova like a dart.
Reacting fast, Nova's eyes glowed green as a clock symbol in his pupil reverted, going a few seconds back as he himself was dragged to his last position a second ago, causing the attack to miss completely.
But that time was all Illial needed as his body rapidly restitched itself before Nova's gaze.
Landing a few feet away from Nova, Illial giggled. "Your use of your element truly amazes me. It was truly a waste that you're not pure enough to pass the trial."
"Shut the fuck up." Nova gritted his teeth as he took a stance when Illial smiled.
"I'm afraid this battle ends here," he muttered.
Nova's brows furrowed.
"You're not our objective," Illial said as Nova's eyes widened. "I was merely a distraction."
Nova's brows furrowed. There was no other passage except here; what was he even on about?
"Right now, you must be thinking there's no other way around except here and how we even found this place," Illial said as his smile widened into uncanny proportions. "You've always been so predictable."
Nova channelled his essence forth as multiple clocks appeared within his vicinity.
"The question shouldn't be how we found this place. It wasn't that hard to find a place like this with the help of the fallen," Illial said. "But rather, what made attacking Oros so difficult were the mountains around it."
Nova felt a chill run down his spine.
"But what if we found a way around that too?"
Samael's eyes narrowed as he gazed down, watching a pebble on the earth slowly tremble and slide around the ground.
Looking back, his instincts roared for him to return.
Switching his gaze back towards the city, Samael expanded his essence to the limits as he felt something massive moving through the mountains, heading straight for the walls.
Oros was under attack.
"THE SANCTUARY!" Samael roared as he blasted back. Nova flinched as he looked at Illial's leaving figure amidst the chaos, wearing that same blood-boiling smile.
But Oros was more important.
"Fuck!" Nova hissed as he blitzed back towards the Sanctuary itself.
As Samael's figure flew high in the air, cutting through like an arrow, he eventually got a vision of the city. Landing atop the walls of the Sanctuary, Samael gritted his teeth.
It was coming.
As the rumbling grew louder and louder, the mountains behind Oros began to violently shake as the area near the foot began to break.
As Nova landed beside the boy, they had no choice but to watch as two massive worm-like creatures drilled a hole straight through the bottom of the mountain. Creating a massive tunnel where dozens of figures erupted from, all draped with the same clothes.

White robes.
Samael's bloodlust exploded off the roof. He wanted to rip them to pieces, but before he could even decide his next move, they all raised their hands in the air as Samael felt the essence build.
Samael's eyes widened as he roared at the top of his lungs. "TAKE COVER!"
Multiple streaks of light fired off in the air, painting the sky golden as they illuminated the darkness away. For moments, it felt as though the morning sun had dawned upon them as the projectiles drew a massive arc down heading towards the sanctuary.
"Damn it all!" Nova spat as he raised his hand above his head, planting his feet steadily on the ground as a massive circular clock formed atop his palms, enlarging within seconds as it overshadowed the sanctuary.
Witnessing this, Silvana's face darkened as worry stained her gaze.
"No..." She muttered under her breath.
Samael himself felt breathless at the sheer size of the barrier as he watched the streak of lights begin to rapidly degrade and almost de-age as their luminescent glows were snuffed out.
Standing amongst the enemy soldiers, a man wearing a mask with 3 eyes on its surface stared at the fading barrier as his voice echoed through the ranks.
"Proceed as planned. No matter the cost."
Preparing another round of projectiles, the omens grabbed the men and women shackled behind them, sapping them of their vitalities.
Raising their hands once more, their palms began to ignite golden as pure, unfiltered divine power coursed through their veins.
Seeing the second assault, Samael looked at Nova to find the man breathing harder than before. His eyes were deeper than what they were seconds ago, carrying a heavy burden only Samael could see.
Or so he thought.
"Nova! No!" Silvana roared as she landed atop the wall the two stood upon. Her hair fluttered back as the wind harshly whipped her in the face. Yet, the fear in her eyes remained a silent testament of what would happen next.
Looking at the woman and upon Oros, Nova steeled his resolve as he once more raised his hand. Slowly, green chains slowly slithered up his forearms as a clock sigil appeared upon the back of his palm.
As the beams of light fired one after the other, the sky was once more painted golden as the streaks smashed against the barrier. Meanwhile, the clock on Nova's palm began to hasten every shot that landed.
As the second wave finally ended, Nova's hands slowly lowered as Samael's eyes widened.
There were now white strands of hair on Nova's head. Ones that were never there before.
He was ageing.
Samael shifted his gaze towards the masked enemies. They weren't here to attack Oros.
They were weakening Nova.
As the Omens began to prepare for another wave, the man with 3 eyes on his mask raised his hand in preparation. His pale gold eyes narrowing in anticipation.
Silvana tried to inch closer, but Nova was swift as he blocked the woman with a wave of his hand.
"Please!" Silvana roared as she tried to shatter the chrono orbs binding her down.
"No," Nova replied, his eyes tired. "It is my duty. I cannot forsake the city."
Staring at the man, Samael's fist slowly balled into a fist. Looking at the man in the centre of it all, Samael knew he was strong. Stronger than him, at least.
Right now, the enemies were exploiting Nova's duty to protect them all by constantly pummelling him, leaving him no time to strike back.
Looking at the people evacuating below, Samael knew Nova wouldn't budge unless everyone was safe.
In the end, was he going to be another burden?
Samael felt something snap within him as he felt a churn in his stomach. Yes, this disgust was familiar.
Sovereign's will. The spirit of a king. Yet, at that moment, he was no king. He was nothing but another baggage in need of protection.
Grinding his teeth down, Samael's face shifted, one filled with fury as his bloodshot eyes darted forward.
The Void gave him a chance, paving the path of a sovereign for him so that he would be able to achieve his dream, his ambitions and his one goal.
To protect.
"Fuck this."
As Nova raised his hand to brace for another attack, his attention was snatched away as he watched a figure burst forward.
"Samael?!" Nova roared. "What are you—"
Nova's eyes widened as he saw Samael's gaze stare at him for a brief moment. One filled with determination and flames.
Nodding at the boy, Nova dropped the barrier.
The omen's eyes narrowed as they watched the green barrier fall and vanish without trace.
The general himself was left puzzled. "What..."
"Void Cleave."
The Omen's eyes widened as he barely avoided the slash, grazing his forearms as the armour he wore was completely lacerated.
However, the wave didn't end there, as it continued to mow down dozens of the omens behind him, cleaving them in two as the upper half of their bodies slid off clean.
But it didn't end there; before the general could even utter another command, Void Raven appeared inches from his face, the sharpness of the weapon sending a silent warning through his bones as he swiftly bent his body back, allowing the weapon to pass through.
A thunderous boom echoed behind the general as he looked at the setting dust where a pair of crimson dots glowed amidst the endless darkness. In its hand was the head of one of his men, severed and slowly turning to black ash.
The other omens tried to regain their distance as they began to shift their attention to the man.
However, the general roared at the top of his lungs, breaking them out of their chaotic stupors. "Focus on Nova! I will handle him—"
The general felt a shiver run down his spine as his eyes bolted wide open.
"BACK AWA—"
But it was too late.
"Dome Cleave."
Samael's blade wove in a frenzy as it sent a plethora of Void cleaves at random, causing severe destruction and havoc as the omens unfortunate enough to be hit were diced to nothing but globs of flesh.
The surrounding mountain was pulverised, and the very ground itself was slashed into segments, causing the ground to shake violently and shift.
"Fuck!" The general roared as he blasted forward, gauntlets of light forming over his fist as he flew in the air, attempting to break through.
But before he could, another voice overshadowed his.
"Not so fast."
For a moment, time itself seemed to crack as the general found his movements slowed for a brief second.
But that second was all Nova needed as he delivered a reckoning kick towards the jaw of the omen, sending him flying through the feet of the mountain as it fractured upon impact.
Sensing Nova's presence, Samael slowly stood up as he dusted himself. "Are the evacuations done?"
Nova smirked as he watched the Transcendent Omen slowly stand back up. "Thank you for buying me enough time. Quite ironic, isn't it? I wield it, yet I lacked it."
Samael watched the omens slowly rise up from the destruction he caused. Amongst them he could feel three saints.
Could he win against all three?
Samael shook his head.
Fuck it, I don't care anymore.
A Sovereign never backs down from a fight. This one wasn't any different.
But it seems he wasn't the only person who the enemy pissed off.
"This fight isn't yours alone."
Looking beside him, Samael saw Ajax slowly descend from the skies, black tendrils jutting out from his back.
Behind him, Silvana followed close as her eyes held a sharp glint. Slowly, water began to levitate inches from her body.
"Well, you guys are fucked now," Nova chuckled.
"Let's end this."
