Void Cultivation

Chapter 98- Legendary Phoenix (4)

After steeling his resolve, Grey put away his magic ship and stuck several flying talismans into his body. After that, he took to the skies...

The heavenly Phoenix found it the right moment to let out a wild bird call that echoed into the distance, and made the scene of the flying Phoenix circling around a blurry figure seem enchanting and magical to anyone who saw it from a distance.

But Grey didn't think so! He frowned slightly as he watched the Phoenix cry out loud in excitement as it fluttered around his clothes with hot streams of air.

To him, the Phoenix was declaring their arrival to any and all who could give a damn! After seeing Grey fall silent, the Phoenix soon stopped its wild cries and fell silent as well.

After a short period of time, Grey had almost reached the level of the clouds! If a normal human were to be here at this moment, they would hardly be able to breathe due to the low oxygen content and the pressure.

But as a cultivator, Grey only found the lack of oxygen a bit uncomfortable and the pressure to be within what he could bear. But that didn't mean he enjoyed though.

Knowing that he could be in the peripheral of something he shouldn't be, Grey turned cautious. The last time he had used his perception aided by Dragon eyes to scan the skies, he had gotten some states from from unknown creatures lock into him.

But shortly after, they disappeared. Grey did not know whether they disappeared or grew tired of locking into his perception. But he was here in his body, looking out from his eyes.

If he encountered a creature he could not handle in its own domain- which was the sky, he only hoped the Phoenix would be able to stall for him to fly back down.

However, none of his fears came to pass. The passed over the clouds and looked at the everlasting Continent that was seemingl, just above his head.

Grey felt a little beckoning force as he flew higher. At this height, he could hardly breath and the pressure was starting to get to him, but he continued flying anyways.

Soon after, Grey felt the world suddenly turn upside down and he was falling at a very fast speed.

A little disoriented due to the lack of oxygen and the high pressure, Grey was stunned for a few moments before quickly getting himself back. Clearing distracting thoughts from his head, he focused on regaining his balance and in little time, he was back up the sky again.

But when Grey looked up, instead of seeing the everlasting Continent as he was used to. He saw the boundless river that looked like a long and simple oil painting.

They were several small blacks dots on the surface of the water which he tried to pierce with Dragon eyes but the distance was too far.

And when he looked down, he saw the everlasting Continent below. He had gotten through the divider between the skies of the boundless river, and the skies of the everlasting Continent unknowingly.

The feeling of free calling was the act of gravity descending upon him and sending him hurling towards the ground. And with his accelerating upwards, he had unknowingly been increasing his speed in a bid to stop.

"I've gotten through the filament between the two skies, now what?" Grey said out loud. The Phoenix only fluttered around him unfazed. It was clear that it had long experienced this feeling and it was used to it.

Slowly, Grey extended his perception to only a few dozen meters around him. After entering the eigth level of Qi accumulation, his control of spirit- Celestial Qi had long gotten a lot better.

Focusing on landing safely on one of the mountain ranges, Grey took this opportunity to take a look at the Everlasting Continent.

From a point of view in the sky, the Everlasting Continent was a piece of land from all he could see. There were some lakes and rivers here and there, but ultimately, this entire world looked to only be covered in land and mountain ranges.

Although they were also plain fields and different types of terrian, mountains were the most visible. After taking in the sight, Grey soon landed atop mountain.

The whole flight had only been a little over four hours. But to Grey, those four hours were like days of torment. Silently waiting and afraid for the Divine creature that once set his spirit sea ablaze.

Fortunately, that experience looked like a one time thing. Now that he thought about it, it was not everyday a divine existence flew around in the sky. It was probably just a fluke!

As soon as Grey landed, his expression turned vigilant. Even the Phoenix that was always proud and liked to show off grew silent as well.

Although it did not fear death, dying was still not a good experience for it either. And it was only in the First levels of Foundation Establishment.

The small world only allowed cultivators from the Qi accumulation realm and Foundation Establishment realm to enter. Anyone above those realms would either be rejected or expelled. If a cultivator from the Foundation Establishment realm broke through to the Core formation realm here, the world would erupt and the various forces would work together to send him out.

Same thing for the natives of this world! If they reached the Core Formation realm, the small world would not show partiality and similarly kick him out.

That meant that they was no entry into the small world after one passed those realms. But a very high level cultivator could ignore that rule and forcefully barge in.

If he was as strong as, or stronger than the guardian of the pocket dimension. He could stay in the pocket dimension for an amount of time before the guardian accumulated enough power to send him out.

But if the level of the cultivator was higher than that of the guardian, he could remove the role of the guardian and be the new guardian. But each guardian had a certain effect on the smal world they watched over.

If a guardian was expelled, the small world would change according to the new guardian. This was rule of small worlds. The following resources and magic treasures would also change as well. Some may even disappear entirely because the guardian is no longer present.

And that was why the Nascent Soul Transformation expert did not try to forcefully enter the small world when he could. Because all the magic treasures he sought would disappear shortly after he did.

So, he employed a different strategy of sending low level cultivators to the small world to collect the resources he needed. On the day of the gathering, the Nascent Soul Transformation expert had given them all a list of the type of rare treasures that could be found in the small world.

Grey and many other people did not think that he did it out of the kindness of his heart, instead he did it to show each and every one of them subtly, the type of magic treasures he was looking for.

Grey just realized this as he walked on the snowy peak of the mountains.
