Chapter 96- Legendary Phoenix (2)

"For now, you will be with me. You can lessen the degree of the divine flames in my body and can be a great help to me when I'm hunting creatures. Which reminds me, we still have have creatures to hunt!" With a gesture of his hand, the magic ship began to move in the direction of one of the creatures he had locked unto before.

After getting close enough, he dived into the cold waters. The Phoenix followed in after him. The surroundings waters immediately turned slightly warm. Grey looked at it in approval before swimming to his marked target.

It was another sea eel! The moment the eel felt killing intent from Grey, it chose to fight instead of flight. Grey only nodded inwardly as he swam towards the eel that swam in a corresponding zig zag pattern that could not be interpreted.

With his arms outstretched, he clapped underwater and a cold stream of yin energy was sent outwards. The eel and the red fish were blasted backwards.

Soon after, the red fish blasted a wave of hot air in annoyance that contrasted his cold yin. After that, it looked at Grey in annoyance as if telling him not to do that again.

Grey took note and apologized internally. But he didn't have any other ranged attack just Forbidden Stream. But it looked like he didn't even need to attack as the hot wave of energy from the red fish was enough to directly kill the eel and almost cook it's flesh.

With a sudden burst of speed, the red fish appeared by his side, with a sleazy and proud look on it's face. Grey thought that if it had a human appearance, it would be like the calm but arrogant demeanor of a young noble master.

But that didn't bother him right now, he was more worried about the eeld that the red fish had hunted for him. Other than looking at Grey from time to time, it didn't seem to any interest in the eel which made Grey sigh in relief.

When they were back on his magic ship, the eel hung above Grey who diligently absorbed the corrosive substance, which was greedily eaten by his shadow. It was like a cycle!

The red fish, which had now transformed into a beautiful and awe inspiring majestic Phoenix, was observing as Grey absorbed the corpse eel's corrosive substance in confusion.

Normally, cultivators avoided corrosive substance with all their might as it was a bane to divinity and could taint and corrupt one's soul. Yet, this human who was hidden by a mysterious cloak was busy absorbing it greedily as if afraid that all the corrosive substance in the world would suddenly disappear.

As a divine being which had lived countless lives, it was familiar with the reincarnation cycle and knew that it was just a new born. After living and completely digesting its own former power would it ascend to it's former glory.

And although the Phoenix could rely solely on it's own power to grow. In fact, it could even sleep for a hundred years and become powerful. But for it to grow stronger than it's previous lives, it had to consume other divine flames that quickened its growth.

That was the reason why it was currently hanging around Grey right now. He felt the sealed divine flames within him and could slowly feel it's strength growing.

Rigth now, it was barely at the level cultivators called Foundation establishment. As a divine existence, it didn't measure its strength in realms.

So when it saw Grey absorbing the corrosive substance like it was his favourite meal, it was quite shocked. Even though it reincarnated, some of it's previous memories were still ingrained in its soul.

And it knew how deadly and lethal the corrosive substance was to mortals who were still ascending on the path of the divine, it knew that Grey's actions could be called weird.

But what was even more weird was that despite the amount of corrosive substance that entered his body, his body did not suddenly break down and mutate, or become corrupted and tainted, his body remained.

In confusion, the legendary Phoenix could only watch as Grey continued to diligently absorb the corrosive substance.

When the eel corpse had been completely dried out, Grey opened his eyes. He felt his control of the Shadow sect secret art become more precise. He could now shape and move his shadow fluently, like he was moving his own limbs.

As he was absorbing the corrosive substance, he was also absorbing the celestial Qi and the cold yin energy in the surroundings which made his levels deepen as well.

With a single thought, his magic ship started to move towards the next target speedily. The Red fish- Phoenix, also helped him to hunt which made the entire process much swifter.

After three days, Grey was finally on the precipice of entering the eighth level of Qi accumulation. His cold yin energy had also increased and he was in the middle of mastering another technique of the Forbidden Monarch art.

After the fourth day when he had tracked down and hunted each and every of the creatures he had once marked, Grey set his sights on reaching the everlasting continent far above.

But before he attempted it, he decided to enter the eight level of Qi accumulation before he tried it.

Sitting down cross legged, Grey focused on absorbing the Celestial Qi in the air. His body trembled lightly in excitement as the energy filled celestial Qi surged into his body and filled up his spirit sea.

Soon, the size of his spirit sea increased and entered the 1000 feet range. At that moment, a slight purple flicker appeared in his eyes.

If any one could look into his eyes at this moment, they would see a purple moon peeking out of large clouds.

Grey felt the phenomenon of being bathe in energy filled liquid. What followed was the expulsion of black goo from his body. The sudden pain made his thoughts go white in pain.

He fell into agony and pain and gnashed his teeth. Soon, a loud bang rang out in his mind and Grey felt like a whole new world had been opened up to him.
