Void Cultivation

Chapter 102- Dawn and Bright

In a space of twelve meters, everywhere was suddenly enveloped in ice.

The purple scythe turned slow and sluggish, in response to the sudden change in atmosphere. The Phoenix screeched out in discomfort, and flapped it's fiery wings once and flew out of the twelve meter radius of ice.

Seeing this, Grey did not hesitate to throw out another talisman. He did not try to run because he knew that he knew that the scythe was faster than him by far, neither did he try to attack the scythe.

After observing the short fight between the scythe and the Phoenix, he noted that it was very impervious to damage. Only when the Phoenix really breathe out hot flames, would the scythe show some signs of taking damage.

So instead he doing those two, he decided to seal the scythe instead! It was originally sealed in the chubby cultivator's storage bag before, so why wouldn't he be able to seal it again?

The talisman flew and self destructed as soon as it got close to the scythe that was already recovering from the intense cold. A net that seemed illusionary suddenly rushed out and sealed the scythe before it could regain it's speed.

But the net exploded the next moment, but Grey was already been prepared, and had thrown out some more sealing talismans.

The scythe was soon held down by several ethereal nets at once, but Grey noticed that one of the net was already close to exploding, so he threw the scythe that had been sealed by the nets into his storage bag.

He waited for several seconds, but when nothing else happened, he heaved a long sigh of relief. Despite the really short battle, he was already exhausted and tired.

The intense feeling he got from the scythe couldn't be matched by any other thing in his memories. He had used his strongest attacks from the get-go and barely managed to keep his life.

"Now, to interrogate the person who caused all this!" Grey said lightly and looked towards the chubby cultivator that was still laying on the floor, splayed like a broke doll.

His expression was one of bafflement, as he had not expected Grey to defeat the purple scythe! In his mind, as soon as he let out the scythe from his storage bag, he was as good as dead!

Yet, to his surprise, the scythe did not immediately attack him and instead went for Grey as if on impulse. Which lead him to watch the epic battle from a safe distance away.

At first, he was full of joy that Grey would die under the swift attack of the purple scythe. But then, his joy turned to awe, and his awe to shock.

Now his shock was turned to fear as he watched the person who was capable of sealing the purple scythe in such a long time without suffering any injuries.

Actually, although Grey did not suffer any real injuries, he had been forced to use several of his talismans that were one time only. Those talismans had cost quite a lot, so although his body was still in goof condition, his pocket was weeping right now.

"Wait! Wai-it! Don't kill me! Like I said before, if you kill me, the scythe will choose a new soul to latch unto. And since you are the closest to it, you'll be it's new owner!" The chubby cultivator shouted in a hurry.

He was no longer vomiting blood at every sentence, but blood would occasionally slide from the side of his lips from time to time.

Grey paused as if contemplating on the matter, but in truth he was long aware and only wanted to hit the chubby cultivator a bit.

In the end, he walked up to the chubby cultivator and leaned down till he was directly over his face. His expression unreadable, and his voice cold.

"Why did you release the weapon?" Grey asked as if he did not know why. The chubby cultivator wanted to twitch his lips, but he knew it would hurt so he resisted the urge.

After a round of questioning, the chubby cultivator soon fell unconscious due to the lack of blood. Grey sighed deeply and glanced at the Phoenix sitting comfortably on his shoulder.

The Phoenix looked at the unconscious chubby cultivator with an expression full of disdain. It snapped it's mouth repeatedly as if wanting to suppress the flames that wanted to come out of it's mouth.

When it felt Grey's gaze, it turned it's head slightly and screeched loudly. A puff of smoke came out from its mouth as a result.

During the Phoenixe's battle, Grey had noticed it was very prideful about it's feathers. To the extent that when the scythe nearly cut off one of them, it flew into rage and fumed out even hotter fire.

This lead Grey to conclude that the Phoenix was a female, and had thus come up with a name for it. Instead of just calling it 'Phoenix'.

"From now on, I'll call you Roxanne. Because you bring light and radiance, along with your graceful and prideful personality."

"Roxanne also means Dawn and Bright. Dawn represents your death, while Bright represents your reincarnation after death. As a Phoenix, I think this is a perfect name for you." Grey said lowly with a hint of emotion on his face. But in his eyes, one could see a pondering expression, like he was deliberating over something.

Roxanne pretended to be unconcerned, but it one looked closer, they could see a bright glint hidden in Roxanne's bright eyes.

In the end, Grey nodded to himself and threw the unconscious chubby cultivator onto his magic ship, which the shrunk down to the size in which it could enter a bottle.

Grey was not afraid of him waking up, because even if he could, he would be trapped within the inscriptions of the magic ship and be unable to move. Grey had added that feature some time ago in case he needed to contain some live creatures and didn't want to kill them.

After doing that, Grey vigilantly looked around before running down at full speed. His expression remained blurry beneath the mysterious cloak, but his expression was one of nonchalance and caution.
