Villain System: 10,000x Reward On Murder In The Apocalypse!

Chapter 45: Extraction

His steps seem sluggish as they ascended up the stairs. Even then, he was still faster than an average human in clambering those stairs.

After what appeared to be forever, Draziel reached a familiar floor with half its door blasted into splinters. A quarter of the metal door was still intact though. Draziel shifted it off its hinges and as he came into the hallway, several corpses of Mutated Giant Pigeons laid motionlessly on the ground, crimson blood bleeding rapidly into the floor, forming blood pools in a few caved in parts of the ground.

There was a splash as a foot stepped into one of the blood potholes. Draziel headed directly for his room since there were no evidence of a living mutated beast on this floor any longer.

They had possibly been scared off by the powerful Type 1 Mutant, which was why there weren't any of those flying beasts on this floor. His room seems no longer inhabitable with corpses, blood and organs at every corner of his room, wafting out horrendous odour to the environment.

The furniture in his room had all been destroyed by his battle with the beasts and even the ground had multiple claw marks on them.

Draziel stabbed his knife into the skull of a Mutated Gaint Pigeon and rummaged through it, but he was unable to find a nuclei within its skull.

"Tch." Draziel pursed his lips as he was deep in thought. Nucleus are probably developed by Type 1 monsters or beings that had gone through the evolution process and had grown, not just ones that possess strength a few levels above normal.

He found the first-aid box on the ground, a few of its content broken, some bandages drenched in black blood but luckily, he found two intact syringes he could use.

They were still within their plastic container. Therefore, there was a high chance it hadn't been contaminated yet.

Dropping the Mutant's body to the ground, he laid the corpse on the ground with its belly facing the floor, exposing its back. He then extended its wings even further and clipped them to the ground with the leg of a broken table and the sofa, getting easier assess to the spinal cord.

There were little spikes at the back of the Mutant which appears to have grown from its spinal cord, extending from its neck all the way to its tail.

"Procedure for cerebrospinal fluid extraction."

His Bionic smart lens flashed and a few words appeared along his line of sight including all the procedures needed to extract the fluid. Draziel turned the corpse to the side, chin tucked to the chest and knees pulled up to the chest.

When the back is in a curved position, he stabbed his knife into the back, piercing the thick fleshy skin of the Mutant before jabbing the needle between the bones of the spine (vertebrae) below the level of the spinal cord.

The plunger of the 150ml size syringe was then pulled and a yellowish fluid from the spinal canal was then slowly sucked into the container, which was immediately filled.

Draziel was pleasantly surprised. He expected to have found a little bit of the liquid with how thin and skinny the Mutant was but the 150ml container had been filled and there seem to be more of the liquid within the body.

Draziel squirted the liquid in a clean flask and then repeated the process. This time, the container was filled almost halfway before it stopped and placed it within the flask, locking it tightly. This didn't make Draziel disappointed though. Calculating the amount he had extracted, he had acquired a bit more than 200ml of the liquid, meaning he only needed one more Mutant before one of the requirements would be completed.

[Nuclei of 1st Degree infected (0/3)]

[Spinal Fluid of mutated human(203/350ml)]

[Bone Marrow of Type 1 mutated beast(0/5kg)]

[Heart of a 2nd Degree infected or a Rank 2 Mutated beast or a Type 2 Mutant or a Level 2 Enhanced Human(0/1) ]

Draziel smacked his lips while reading the list, after which he dragged the corpse towards the store room at the edge of the hallway and locked it inside. He might need quite a few materials from the corpse later and if the corpse hadn't decayed or rotted by then, it might be of great help.

The entire 40th floor reeked with the stench of both human and beast corpses, with blood splattered over the wall and pools of blood on the floor. This place was not inhabitable.

Moving to the floor below is a no go since the floors below the 40th floor were exposed offices but above the 40th floor were enclosed offices that very much looked like a suite therefore, he could only move upwards if he wanted a nice room and a decent bed.

Moreover, the other survivors would have also gone upwards, maybe a few tens of floors upwards, he just didn't know which one. Making one wonder if he really cared or not.

Moving up three more floors, Draziel found the 44th floor was clean and wasn't affected by the attack of the beasts. But they seem to have been preoccupied judging by the weapons pointed toward his face the moment he walked out of the stairway door. It seems they were laying an ambush to catch the creatures off guard.

"Draziel? You are alright, that's good." Jacob heaved a sigh of relief and lowered his sword while the others were also relieved it was someone they knew.

Katniss and Glinda's expression wasn't looking too good. They had thought Draziel might have been devoured by the creatures, but it seems he would live to see another day. As the saying goes, good people die quickly while the bad people always live to see another day.

"Come in quickly. We can't afford to stay here much longer."Jacob said, wide eyes as he locked the metal door behind him. The others assisted him in placing three water dispensers side by side, to keep the door more secure.
