Chapter 43: Defective Nuclei
Life instantly faded from body of the creature, as its claws slipped out of Draziel's arm, dropping listlessly to the ground, motionless.
Draziel let out a wild grunt that echoed loudly within the now quiet stairs. His body dangling on the air as he held tightly on the tongue. With the they had been moving at, they had passed 100mph! And with the abrupt halt, the force used instantly dislocated Draziel's arm, even with his strength, he was barely able to halt their movement, using that force, the spinal cord of the Mutant snapped, killing it in the process since it hadn't expect something like that to have happened.
Draziel retracted the tentacle and they dropped to the ground floor with a loud thud sound. They were only twm meters above the ground at this time.
All the way from the 40th floor, to the ground floor, one couldn't help but wonder how Draziel had survived, with only a few broken and dislocated bones.
[You eliminated a Type 1 Mutated Human, 5 Evolution points have been extracted]
Draziel laid limply on the dirty ground, his arms and legs sprawled about the place. A few inches above his head was the severed head of a zombie, it's eyes staring dully at him. It's brain had been punctured all the way, rendering it lifeless.
"Raaaaaugh!"
A few zombies had been attracted by the dropping sound of Draziel and the body of the Mutant and ten sounds of legs shuffling the ground echoed. Coming closer each second.
Draziel's expression scrunched up tightly. With his current condition, moving might be impossible for him within this short period. He was waiting for his rapid healing to kick in, but the zombies had other plans for him.
Two dislocated arms, making his shoulders appearing square rather than round. There was a few lumps, jutted around the skin of his arm (the top of the arm bone) under the skin in front of his shoulders.
And two legs which he had lost feeling from and unable to move at the moment, the situation couldn't be anymore dire. If the zombies continued moving this direction, there is no doubt they would happily tear him apart, ravishing his succulent innards.
But Draziel ready to accept he would go down like this.
If he chose to die at all, then he would choose how exactly he wanted to go, not like this and definitely not in the hands of a zombie.
Draziel stretched out his palm, ignoring he stabbing pain shooting through his spine, and a sharp object elongated from within his palm and much like a bullet, it shot forwards with intense speed stabbing deeply into the skull of a zombie that had managed to walk into the stairway.
Mid-flight, the sharp tentacles suddenly changed direction, stabbing the skull of another zombie who was just at the corridor.
"Whoosh!"
The tongue retreated back into his palm, the retraction force pulling his lifeless arm backwards, causing an intense amount of pain crawl up his nerves, making his muscles shudder slightly.
Draziel remained laying in the ground for what seem to be hours and in the fourth hour and after his seventh zombie kill, he could faintly sense pain in his legs, which meant his legs muscles had been revitalised. His ligaments, nerves and tissues that had torn had already healed up, allowing him to move once more.
Draziel expressionlessly staggered to his feet, as though he was just learning to walk, but after his ninth step, he was able to walk properly. His movement were slow and steady.
Not daring to make exaggerated movements to affect his healing.
His heels turned slightly and he slammed them on the ground, transferring force from the ground to his body, he slammed his shoulder to the wall.
A grunt that seem to originate from a wild animal resounded, beads of sweat dripped down his forehead, but Draziel turned to his other side and repeated the same process with his other shoulder.
He let out a breathe of shuddering air as he flexed his arms slowly, unfazed by the pain he was felling from his obvious torn muscles.
Blood dripped down due to gravity, trailing down an hairless forehead, down to the flat nose that only contained bones and melted flesh, and then dropped to the ground with a slight splash, dying the already grey tile floor red.
The steel knife stabbed even deeper, squeezing even more blood and brain juice out from the stab wound, trailing down the knife and the head as it dropped to the ground with a tap tap tap sound.
Draziel's lips pursed, and he withdrew the blade, wiggling his finger through the hole, he rummaged through the skull, probably in search for something.
Nuclei could be found within the brain of a mutated organism and seeing as this person had obvious changes in body structure and its name had Mutated in its status, therefore it must have also developed a Nuclei.
Draziel's eyes appeared out of focus, and then his eyes lit up as it seem as though he had found what he was looking for.
He withdrew his hands, letting a sticky type of grey matter elongate between his hand and the skull before it broke due to distance.
But Draziel's expression instantly dulled as he held what was in his palm up to his face. This wasn't the same as the other Genetic Nuclei he had consumed. This one looked very much like a decayed form of the Nuclei, seeing as it let out a very foul and repulsive odor with its exterior and interior feeling very hard to like to the touch, he could sense something was different with this one.
"Scan." His emotionless voice echoed through the entire stairway as he commanded.
[Defective Genetic Nuclei: A variant of a Nuclei which contains pure and toxic radiation energy gathered from within the body of a being. It can strengthen the human body if ingested Evolution Points ranging from 0.1 to 10 could be obtained, depending on chance. Or it can mutate the body in the direction of the infected genome.]
