Chapter 155: Chapter 154: The ‘Loss’ of Mochizuki Chiyou
Mochizuki Chiyou stopped Mo Fan, clearly still wanting to save her brother. After all, with Mo Fan's stealth abilities, they had a much better chance of succeeding. However, getting Mo Fan to help her wasn't going to be easy.
"What is it?" Mo Fan stopped in his tracks and looked at Mochizuki Chiyou.
Truth be told, maybe it was some influence from his previous life, but seeing her in that kimono just made him want to reach out. Hmm, come to think of it, ever since he arrived in this magical world, he'd been too focused on training to revisit some classic movies. Tsk, he wondered how the quality of movies in the magic world was?
"You help me, and besides *that*, I'll agree to any other conditions you have." Mochizuki Chiyou bit her lip as she spoke.
Mo Fan chuckled upon hearing this, then whispered something into her ear. Some things had to be said quietly; otherwise, it wouldn't look good.
Mochizuki Chiyou's face became even more furious upon hearing Mo Fan's words! Though she had already had a bad feeling, she still hadn't expected the depth of Mo Fan's shamelessness.
"Absolutely not! There's no way that's happening!" she snapped.
"Come on, you want me to go with you to that place? That's one of Asia's heaviest-guarded prisons. You expect me to help without getting something substantial in return? You must be dreaming," Mo Fan said.
He wasn't in much of a rush; if she refused now, they could always negotiate later. But his attitude had to remain firm! Otherwise, this proud girl would just keep pushing.
Mochizuki Chiyou paused. She realized she might have been a bit too hasty. But it was too late now.
The moon hung high, surrounded by countless stars.
From a secluded corridor, faint sounds of sucking could be heard coming from the bushes. Yet, whenever patrolling wardens passed by, they seemed to think they were mistaken.
Soon after silence returned, two figures emerged from the darkness.
Mochizuki Chiyou was leaning against a pillar, gagging. Mo Fan rolled his eyes and said, "At midnight, I'll come find you. You lead the way, and we'll go rescue your brother."
With that, he left.
Although Mochizuki Chiyou was furious, she had no choice but to hold it in. After all, she had already "lost" something to him, and now her priority was to make sure Mo Fan helped her save her brother. No matter what, his terrifying stealth ability was indispensable! Just now, those patrol wizards were right in front of them, yet none of them sensed a thing.
Later that night...
"Woo, woo, woo…!"
"Whoo-whoo-whoo…!"
At the upper tower, an alert red light suddenly lit up, followed by alarm sounds that echoed through the quiet night like air-raid sirens.
The red light stirred up the West Guard Pavilion, causing it to become a hub of activity. Teams of guards hurried along stairways and corridors, heading to the watchtower's higher levels.
The West Guard Pavilion was essentially a mountain fortress, with the eastern side bordering a sea filled with demon monsters that didn't belong to the Osaka territory.
At that moment, Mo Fan opened his eyes, already expecting it. The alarm had been triggered by Baxia, which probably just passed by the area and accidentally set off the alarm system of the Twin Guard Pavilion.
But it was perfect timing.
Leaving his room, Mo Fan headed straight for Mochizuki Chiyou's quarters. Upon arrival, he found the door locked, but that wouldn't be an obstacle for him. With a ripple of dark energy, Mo Fan silently entered the room. However, he soon realized Mochizuki Chiyou wasn't there.
Just as he was about to search further, Mochizuki Chiyou emerged from the bathroom.
She was dressed in a sleek black outfit, the tight-fitting material clinging to her body and highlighting her anime-like figure even more.
Tsk, it was clear she'd come well-prepared.
"Let's go." Although Mo Fan was easily swayed by such sights, he had enough self-control to focus on the task before them. After all, there was an evil orb to steal, and it wasn't the time to get distracted.
In no time, they arrived at the back of East Guard Pavilion, where she closed her eyes and cast her plant magic, sending vines climbing up the steep cliff.
These vines would be their ladder. The entire eastern mountain was riddled with invisible wards, where even a bird perching on a rock would be electrocuted. Without someone like Mochizuki Chiyou, who knew the layout of these wards, it would have been impossible to enter the East Guard Pavilion.
Even with her leading the way, as they climbed, she constantly whispered warnings and instructions, which showed just how strict the security was.
The East Guard Pavilion was pitch black, blending into the night sky. No starlight or moonlight could reach it. The two climbed up the cliff to the back of the fortress, where they could see the foundations of the castle.
At this point, Mochizuki Chiyou stopped and said, "The castle walls have wards. If I let my plants grow on them, they'll be burnt up. This part is up to you now."
That was precisely why she needed Mo Fan's help, and why she had reluctantly agreed to his unreasonable request.
Mo Fan reached the spot she had mentioned and threw a rope down. Mochizuki Chiyou swiftly climbed up to join him.
She led the way through narrow paths, and Mo Fan noticed there weren't any visible cells or doors along the way, which struck him as strange.
The dim candlelight along the passage cast their sneaky shadows on the walls.
They moved as silently as possible, yet their footsteps seemed loud enough to echo throughout the castle.
Soon, they reached a bottlenecked area, a long hallway with four men dressed in navy-blue uniforms, patrolling it. Judging by their auras, they were likely mid-tier mages.
Mochizuki Chiyou whispered, "Most of the prisoners in the East Guard Pavilion have their powers suppressed by wards, so mid-tier mages are considered very strong here."
Mo Fan nodded and immediately snuck ahead. The dim candlelight barely illuminated the hallway, and it seemed the castle's owner didn't trust modern technology, opting for minimal electrical equipment.
Moving like a flash, Mo Fan took out all four guards, pinning them to the ground.
Whether they lived or died was uncertain.
With no electronic surveillance, it wouldn't matter if they were discovered later. There wouldn't be any evidence to tie him to the incident.
As for any accusations? Mo Fan wasn't going to confess to anything!
At least in Sakura Land, this tiny island wasn't the Holy City, where they could make up crimes out of thin air.
