Vampires Legacy

Chapter 89: Soru Part 2

Black veins surge, Akutenshi activates his curse. The first monster he takes the form of is a beast gorilla. He doubles in size and four additional arms sprout out of his sides. Hind legs form and his face shares the properties of a gorilla with a tiger's fangs and jaw. A tail as long as his body shoots out as well, every part of his body is deadly. He pounds his abdomen with all six arms before charging in, Soru has no choice but to evade. He performs consecutive backflips, evading the monstrous arms slamming into the ground before him. Within a few seconds, the battle moves into the Hunter Academy. Damage is the least of his worries. He has to take out the imminent threat in front of him. Switching gears, he goes on the offensive. Sliding under Akutenshi, he slashes his right ankle causing him to collapse for a second before he heals it. That second was enough for him to get a dozen slashes on his backside. They were shallow though.

"Tch. How tough is that body of yours?"

Without looking back, Akutenshi's bottom four arms twist in an attempt to grab the opponent behind him. Soru jumps up to evade and stabs him in the head. Not even that is enough to stop him. Before he grabs a hold of his blade, Soru yanks it out and leaps back. Using his hind legs, he makes two consecutive jumps off the floor and then off the ceiling, turning his body to face Soru in between the bounces. This attack was only possible thanks to the structure of his body. It would've been unavoidable for 99% of Hunters. But Soru doesn't even evade it. Using the momentum that Akutenshi exerted himself, he slashes through four of his hands and the left side of his chest. This is battle awareness that only the top 20 Hunters are capable of. He tries to follow up, but he catches a glimpse of Akutenshi's right hands. They were ready for the next attack and would've grabbed his blade the moment the next slash landed. Soru has no choice but to back up and let him heal. But this was a fake. Akutenshi eased up for a second thinking he was backing away, but was all of a sudden faced with a barrage of slashes all around him. Soru's slashes are getting deeper. Getting into a panic, Akutenshi heals his whole body in one go while shooting his arms out to get the Hunter away from him. Healing multiple wounds at once is no easy feat for a vampire. Rushing it as Akutenshi just did can cause even more blood loss, which is exactly what happened. But it worked in his favor, the loss blood spurts out from the cuts and some of it gets into Soru's eyes. He runs through the hallway trying to wipe it off. Meanwhile, Akutenshi gets on all eight of his limbs and prepares for an all-out sprint. By the time Soru wipes his eyes clean, Akutenshi takes off. Within half a second of opening his eyes, Akutenshi's snout is an inch away from him gnawing his head off.

Blood splatters.

But it's not from Soru.

The skin of Akutenshi's face is gone, revealing his flesh with a dislocated jaw and empty eye sockets. Soru's reflexes are currently beyond the vampire. As soon as he opened his eyes, he was already in motion for an attack. Shouting out on equal levels as the strength he's putting out, Soru cuts off Akutenshi's six arms, wraps around his body and attempts to slice his head off. It's halfway through his neck, but he can't get it anymore through. Instead of regrowing his limbs, the texture of his body changes. He realizes this form isn't strong enough, so he changes. He becomes even larger, so Soru hops off while he has the chance. He's turned into a gargoyle. He's so big he takes up the entire hallway, but his body is even tougher. Using his stone wings to float a couple of inches off the ground, his horns stab into the ceiling. Knowing he has no chance of damaging that, he flees upstairs. Outside isn't an option because he'll have free reign in the sky. Pursuing him, he tears through the walls. Instead of following up the stairs, he bulldozes through the ceiling up to the second floor. There are several floors, he could've already made it to a higher level. Akutenshi could play a game of cat and mouse, but he doesn't know what Soru could pull. He has to flush him out. Crashing all the way up to the highest floor, he changes into a sea serpent. Immediately, water shoots out of his mouth, flooding the building. He changes once more into a lightning kitsune. Using the water as a conductor, he sends lightning surging throughout the building. He feels a reaction in the current on the third floor and rushes to the area. He sees nothing arriving at the reaction point. Knowing he somehow lured him here, he treads with caution. The floors are still flooded, he can only use the floating desks and shelves as footholds. So where could he have gone?

Slowly removing the ceiling panel, Soru goes for a final slash. If this attack failed, he'd be completely vulnerable in the water. Unfortunately, Akutenshi felt the bloodlust at the last second and evaded Soru. This was the end. Or at least it was supposed to be. Reverting to his vampire form, he grabs Soru and lunges through the window which is hard enough to keep the water from bursting out. Upon reaching the ground, he tosses Soru down.

"What's the big idea?"

"You're strong, Soru. Out of respect for your strength, we'll finish this fight with hand-to-hand combat."

"Hmph. Guess I'll take that as an honor. Wrap this around your waist though. I ain't letting someone with their meat out finish me."

"Very well."

'Man. I was really hoping to beat him,' Soru thinks as he tears his shirt off.

No more words are spoken. The two will settle this with their fists.

Soru lunges delivering the first blow. Akutenshi is met with a strong right hook to his face that makes him spit out blood. With a smile on his face, he returns the favor causing Soru to stagger backwards. Wiping the blood from his mouth, he too has a smile. The two continue their exchange of back-and-forth blows for over 50 seconds until finally, Soru falls.

"Any last words?"

Soru coughs up blood while holding his stomach where he received several hits from.

Just as he's genuinely thinking of his final words, he sees someone appear behind Akutenshi and laughs.

"Haha. Took you long enough."

Shoyo has arrived.
