Vampire God in the Apocalypse

Chapter 301: 298. Preparations for war (2)

Jude glanced over at the large wound just above his ribs. It looked like his skin was torn out.

This made Rameses surprised, because he knew just how strong Jude was. If he was injured... while being inside water, they were all cooked.

"The wound is healing nicely," Jude mumbled, looking up at the sky.

"You are not exactly certain that it's a second class, right?" Rameses asked.

Jude closed his eyes, hearing the military commander speak like this. He knew that this man wanted to have hope, but false hope wouldn't help anything.

"It's the most reasonable answer," Jude spoke.

"I'll discuss with my brother about the matter," Jude said, pushing himself to stand up.

A hand suddenly stopped him from getting up.

"What did you want to discuss with me?" Dexter asked, smiling as he saw Jude was already back from his exploration.

"Well..."

Jude took his time, explaining to Dexter in detail everything about the titans, including their abilities, strengths, and sizes.

"And all of them are titans?" Dexter asked with a frown.

Jude nodded.

"Unfortunately so."

This was one of the worst-case scenarios. The camp was still growing, due to the... should I call it a curse?

That if humans gathered together, monsters would flock there. They had already defended the sun walkers camp from dangerous monsters and even hordes, but this time it was a horde of titans.

"Also, on the way they're bringing a large number of monsters to us. Tracy told me about the sixth-class demonic wolf that you clashed with back at your camp. I suspect this one too would be like it," Jude deduced.

Despite having a calm expression on the outside, Jude was worried on the inside. At this rate, they were done for.

'Maybe I can do that?' Jude frowned, but his thoughts were broken a second later.

"We have to get people to sixth class as soon as possible," Rameses said, a deep frown on his face.

Dexter looked at him with squinted eyes.

'If it comes to it, he won't leave the people behind. The look in his eyes says so.' He blinked, looking up.

"If we can get the witches on board, it might make things easier. But we haven't heard from them in a week. We might have to start teaching people to fight underwater," Dexter suggested, a smile grazing his lips.

"And I have a way to do it."

...

Over an hour later, large horns echoed all over the camp. The people began to come out, responding to the alarms.

"Are those the war horns?"

"The war horns—it hasn't even been up to five days since they made it."

"Danger already in the camp."

"Fuck, I knew it. This place has been too peaceful."

The blaring of the war horns made everyone in the camp come out. Dian and Yuan were present, along with a bunch of people with them.

Everyone couldn't help but wonder what the danger was this time.

On a large platform, Rameses stood, overseeing the entire camp. His gaze caught Flair, who walked out of the inn with a person holding her hand.

He clenched his fists, looking on with a cold gaze.

"The time that we feared is now upon us. There is a horde of monsters coming towards the camp." Rameses paused, observing the reactions of the people.

"But one thing is different now. We have people who are willing to fight and defend the others. There is hope."

Dexter was atop his floating camp, looking down at Rameses with a calm gaze.

"So how would you do it, should we call Collins back?" Dexter asked, looking to his side to see Jude.

"No, I can get help," Jude said, a smirk forming on his face.

"You mean...?" Dexter frowned, a slight smile forming on his face.

"Exactly what I mean. I'll be going tonight, so don't miss me much." Jude chuckled, causing Dexter to look at him with a sly smile himself.

"You know, it's kind of surprising that you're like this now. You were always the reckless one," Dexter smiled.

"What? That recklessness almost cost my life, you know." Jude then smiled.

"It's mostly because of you that most of us are here. You have to promise me something... you can't die, Mom would be devastated."

Dexter leaned back, crossing his legs.

The way Jude was talking, it sounded as if he was going to do something suicidal. But Dexter knew his brother—the idiot loved his life too much.

Rameses was able to brief everyone on the current plan that they made. In the next few days, they would try to raise the main fighting force to sixth class.

Then a lot of the others to seventh class. The stronger they were, the better their chances of surviving the upcoming battle.

At night, Jude left the camp. Saint Petersburg was built very close to the sea, so it wasn't that hard to find an entry point.

The light of the half-moon shone upon the ruined harbour.

As Jude strolled around the place, it wasn't hard to tell how passionate the people were about their boats.

'They might not live.' Jude thought.

His blue eyes stared at the water, and he thought deeply about the decision he was about to make.

'I hope they haven't forgotten me.' Jude smiled, taking a step forward.

With a single motion, he swam forward like a jet, boosting towards the deepest parts of the ocean.

...

Rameses sat in a hospital beside his sister Flair. She was currently sleeping, and he had no need of waking her up right now.

He couldn't help but think about the events that happened. He couldn't help but think about another disaster.

'Flair, we might have to run away. I won't lose you like the others—'

"What are you thinking about so deeply? Do you want to eat her?"

Dexter's voice interrupted his thoughts.

"I didn't even hear your steps," Rameses chuckled, looking up at Dexter.

It was crazy that he once thought that Dexter was a threat to the entire camp. The same person he kept his guard up against, saved his sister.

"Has he left?" Rameses asked.

Dexter nodded, his red eyes shining in the dim light.

"Yes, he can communicate with me from a long range. So we'll see how it'll go."

Rameses nodded, relaxing his back on the wall by the bed.

Their plan had to work. It just had to.
